Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Old Cat

In the end, Bardock left Dr. Gero and his daughter's hot pot restaurant behind, but not without leaving two Tree of Might fruits.

As for whether they would eat them, Bardock didn't care. He had already explained the pros and cons clearly.

If they ate them, then before Piccolo Jr. appeared, no one on Earth would be capable of threatening them. They would be invincible for decades.

If they didn't eat them, using the fruits for research wasn't a bad option either.

Leaving the hot pot restaurant, Bardock shot into the sky and began flying aimlessly, searching for Korin Tower.

Since he had already come to Earth, was he really going to leave the Senzu Beans for that fat slob Yajirobe to waste?

In his previous life, watching Yajirobe eat Senzu Beans like regular meals had always made Bardock's heart ache.

That gluttony directly caused a severe shortage of Senzu Beans later on—so bad that during the Cell Games, the Z Fighters practically wished they could snap a single bean in half.

More importantly, at this point in time, Dr. Brief hadn't even invented Hoi-Poi Capsules yet.

If Bardock wanted to find the Dragon Balls, his only option was to meet Kami at the top of Korin Tower.

Bardock released his ki.

In an instant, the entire Earth trembled.

Countless martial artists looked toward the sky in horror.

"What terrifying ki!"

"So evil… even more sinister than Mercenary Tao's! What kind of slaughter is this?!"

Bardock ignored those weaklings and continued searching for Korin Tower.

What a joke.

Bardock had slaughtered entire civilizations on Planet Plant (Zufuru). Countless lives had ended by his hands.

This was a racial war—not child's play.

How many people had Mercenary Tao killed? He didn't even qualify to be compared.

Moreover, Saiyans of Universe 7 were fundamentally different from those of Universe 6.

Perhaps because of their tails and the ability to transform into Great Apes, their ki was inherently violent and oppressive.

Even Bardock's son, Kakarot, who hadn't been born yet, was originally violent and bloodthirsty when he first arrived on Earth.

If Kakarot hadn't accidentally hit his head and become kind, it was uncertain whether Grandpa Gohan would have been crushed during a full moon—or simply killed outright.

On an island in the East Sea, Master Roshi, dressed in his colorful shirt, was drenched in cold sweat.

"This ki… stronger and more evil than King Piccolo. Who in the world could it be?"

After circling Earth several times at extreme speed, Bardock finally stopped in front of a tower that pierced the clouds.

He looked it over and muttered, "This should be Korin Tower, right?"

With that, he shot upward like a bolt of lightning.

At the top of the tower stood a white cat holding a wooden staff—Korin, Earth's legendary Cat Hermit.

At that moment, Korin was standing in front of several massive jars, muttering to himself.

"How strange… how did it disappear?"

A voice suddenly came from behind him.

"Old cat, are you looking for me?"

Korin jumped in fright and spun around, only to see Bardock in his black-and-red battle suit.

His teeth began chattering uncontrollably as he stammered, pointing, "Da—Da—Da… Dad!"

Bardock raised an eyebrow and said casually, "You don't need to call me 'dad.'"

He stepped forward, his eyes carrying a clear threat. "Just now, I felt someone spying on me. That wasn't you, was it?"

Korin shrank his neck and denied frantically, "No! It wasn't me!"

Bardock snorted. "You know who I am?"

Korin nearly collapsed on the spot. "N-no!"

As he spoke, he shuffled his body, desperately trying to block the four massive jars behind him.

Bardock's gaze sharpened. "Old cat, you're acting awfully suspicious. What's in those jars?"

Cold sweat poured down Korin's face. "N-nothing! There's no secret!"

Bardock already knew the truth.

These were the legendary Magical Water Jars, said to reflect the past, present, and future. As for the final one, it was rumored to connect to the Ice Maze.

Bardock had long been suspicious.

When Future Trunks brought medicine back, Goku must have drunk something like this, triggering his heart disease.

A normal human would've died long ago, but Goku's Saiyan body kept him alive.

As for the so-called "power increase," it was well known that Saiyans grew stronger after recovering from severe injuries.

Was it really strange that Goku became stronger after writhing on the ground half-dead?

Bardock shoved Korin aside. "Move."

Korin stumbled and nearly fell, not daring to say a word.

Bardock stood before the middle jar and peered inside. "Strange… there's nothing?"

The water surface was completely still.

Then Bardock focused his thoughts on Raditz.

Instantly, Raditz's image appeared—doing push-ups at the Imperial Kindergarten.

"So this one is the present," Bardock muttered. "Then the left one must be the past."

He moved to the next jar.

Scenes from Bardock's life flashed rapidly—his birth, his battles, everything up to the present moment.

Only this life was shown. His previous life and the original Bardock's memories were absent.

Finally, the future.

Bardock's eyes gleamed with anticipation. "Let's see what my future looks like."

He looked into the final jar.

Blackness.

Pitch-black, like ink, with a swirling vortex forming inside.

Bang!

The future jar exploded.

Bardock frowned. "No future? Or am I simply not allowed to see it?"

After a moment, he shook his head and laughed coldly.

"Nonsense. Even if there's no path, I'll carve one out with my fists."

Korin cautiously approached. "Th-this has never happened before…"

Bardock shot him a glare. "Shut it."

He crossed his arms. "Old cat, I heard you've got something called Senzu Beans. Eating one keeps you full for ten days. Let me try."

Korin trembled as he pulled a dried bean from the pouch at his waist and handed it over.

Bardock tossed it into his mouth, chewed twice, and swallowed.

Instantly, all the ki he had expended was fully restored.

He nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad. Truly miraculous."

Then his tone turned dangerous. "How many more do you have? I want all of them."

Korin hesitated. "Senzu Beans are extremely precious… this is all that's left."

He handed over the pouch.

Bardock's expression darkened. "Don't lie to me, or I'll send Earth straight to hell."

Recalling the brutal scenes he had glimpsed of Bardock's past, Korin shuddered violently. He rushed into a room and returned moments later, panting, carrying several large jars.

Bardock inspected them.

Each jar contained tens of thousands of beans.

Altogether, over a hundred thousand—more than enough for him and his clan for quite some time.

He found a sack, dumped all the beans inside, even emptied the pouch, and stuffed it into his clothes.

Hoisting the sack over his shoulder, Bardock grinned. "Farewell, old cat."

Korin watched him fly away, finally letting out a breath of relief.

Then his face went pale.

"Oh no… Kami!"
