Chapter 70 - CH.70

The Ancient One had lived for over a thousand years.

As a pure Earthling, her natural lifespan barely reached a hundred. The secret to her longevity lay in a dangerous source: she had absorbed the power of Dormammu from the Dark Dimension.

It was a serious violation of Kamar-Taj's rules. After all, the very purpose of Kamar-Taj was to defend Earth from Dormammu's incursions. And yet here she was, taking in the power of the very entity she was supposed to guard against—an act that could only be called outright rebellion.

But the world had been in chaos. The Nine Realms teetered on the brink of destruction, and Earth itself had been in dire straits. In that desperate moment, the Ancient One had no choice.

A thousand years later, Earth had grown stronger, the chaos gradually subsiding. And the Ancient One, weary of living, began to contemplate retirement. The dark energy she wielded couldn't be revealed, so she maintained a cold, distant exterior, keeping people at arm's length. Even after revealing herself as the Supreme Mage, she remained, at heart, just a person longing for family, friendship, and even love.

A millennium of solitude had led her to a single thought: find a worthy successor to inherit the mantle of Supreme Mage, then quietly step away. If the transition went smoothly, she could eventually return to Earth without betraying her master's dying wish.

Everything changed with Thor's arrival. The news of Thanos's invasion forced her to make a perilous choice. She would push her own power to the limit, absorbing even more from the Dark Dimension, and gamble everything in a one-to-one confrontation with the enemy.

To contain the risk, she secluded herself in a hidden chamber, ensuring the dark aura would not leak and endanger others. Only the king knew the truth within Kamar-Taj.

Now, Thor looked at her, floating in midair and radiating raw dark energy, and asked, eyes widening in concern, "What… happened to you?"

He had felt a trace of the Dark Dimension's power before, but never anything like this.

Suppressing the storm of darkness in her heart, Gu Yi closed her eyes. "I'm fine. I called you here because I need to know… where is Thanos?"

The power she had absorbed teetered on the edge of consuming her. If she didn't act immediately, she could fall to the darkness and become Dormammu's puppet—a disaster for the entire planet.

Thor hesitated, then said carefully, "I've heard from the other gods that Thanos built Titan near Asgard. That's likely where he is."

The other deities, furious over Asgard's destruction, had launched reckless raids across the galaxy. Their intelligence-gathering had been constant, even if direct confrontations hadn't occurred.

Gu Yi, still suppressing the bloodlust and dark urges threatening to spill over, asked quietly, "Can you take me there?"

Thor nodded. "Now?"

She opened her eyes, and an aura of darkness surged through her. In an instant, her vision was consumed by shadow. Thor gripped Stormbreaker tightly, anxiety etched across his face. "Are you alright?"

Gu Yi said nothing. Slowly, the dark energy receded, absorbed back into her own body. Her eyes returned to their natural glow.

"It's alright. Open the Rainbow Bridge. Take me there."

Her voice was weary, yet unwavering. Thor felt a strange pang of sadness but quickly pushed it aside.

"This isn't the place to do it," he warned.

Gu Yi smiled faintly, a spark of mischief beneath the exhaustion. She spun in a circle, her hands weaving an intricate pattern in the air. Without a single suspension ring, a black portal tore open in front of them.

On the other side, a snow-capped mountain loomed, battered by a fierce blizzard. But at their level of power, the storm was nothing more than a breeze.

Ancient One, visibly drained, said, "Let's move."

Thor nodded. Raising Stormbreaker, lightning crackling across the sky, the two vanished in a flash.

Meanwhile, on Titan, in the Milky Way…

Today, the Supreme Court would try the Guardians of the Galaxy.

A crowd of onlookers filled the courtroom, murmuring in curiosity as they stared at the five defendants.

"Are those the ones who fought against Lord Thanos?" someone whispered.

"Yes… I never thought even Thanos's daughter would be tempted by the enemy."

"These alien men are truly vile. Living with Miss Gamora before marriage—no shame at all, no sense of chastity."

"Exactly. Poor Gamora. She was deceived and led down a road with no return."

"If you ask me, those alien men deserve to die. No honor, no backbone—just fooling around."

"But Miss Gamora is innocent."

The voices drifted upward in a low, self-righteous buzz.

High above them, on the top floor of the towering structure, Thanos sat in silence, his expression unreadable. His massive figure was still as stone, as if the noise below had nothing to do with him.

People only needed to know what he allowed them to know.Knowing too much led to dangerous thoughts—and dangerous thoughts disrupted social order.

Suddenly, Thanos's eyes narrowed.

He felt it.

Two immense forces were descending upon the planet.

One carried the chill of pure darkness. The other radiated unmistakable divine power.

His gaze sharpened. At least Heavenly Father level… both of them.

The next instant, his figure vanished without a sound.

At the same time—

On a jagged mountain peak on Titan.

The wind screamed across the frozen terrain, howling like a living thing. Snow and ice whipped through the air in a relentless blizzard, cutting visibility down to almost nothing.

If not for the purple moon hanging in the sky, Gu Yi might have questioned whether she was still on Titan at all.

A moment later, she sensed it too—the distant surge of overwhelming destructive power.

She turned to Thor, her expression firm, eyes steady yet heavy with resolve. "My time is running out," she said solemnly. "I don't know if I can succeed."

A trace of sadness flickered across her face before she continued, her voice quieter but no less serious. "But you must tell Doctor Strange… the Time Stone cannot be completely trusted. We—" she paused, then exhaled softly, "—we are all just pawns."

Thor stared at her, completely lost.

"What do you—"

He never finished the question.

A voice filled with cold fury and barely restrained hatred thundered across the mountains.

"Thor."

The single word sent a chill down his spine.

"You dare come back?" the voice continued, dripping with contempt. "And you even brought backup?"

Thanos appeared in the sky, his towering form framed against the storm.

When he had destroyed Asgard, he hadn't been able to find Thor. That was when he realized the God of Thunder had escaped via the Rainbow Bridge.

He hadn't expected Thor to be this bold—bold enough to come looking for him.

At this moment, Thanos wore the Tyrant Armor, the Tyrant Blade clenched in his hand, the Infinity Gauntlet gleaming on his left. Facing two opponents of Heavenly Father level, he felt no fear at all.

When Thor laid eyes on him, memories surged like a tidal wave—his parents' deaths, Asgard in ruins, the annihilation of the dwarf planet.

The fury inside him exploded.

"Thanos—!"

"Die!"

With a thunderous roar, Thor tightened his grip on Stormbreaker. Lightning erupted across his body, arcs of electricity snapping through the air as he launched himself forward, a living bolt of divine wrath.
