Chapter 23 - CH.23

Odin's energy continued surging forward, racing across the void—but in its path stood Thor.

"No!" Odin roared, halting the blast mid-stream.

But Thanos, ever relentless, reappeared in an instant. His destructive energy surged forward, amplifying the force already in motion. Thor bore the brunt of it. Pain ripped through him like fire and steel. His skin sizzled and blistered, his internal organs were shredded as if hit by countless invisible blades.

"Ahhh!" Thor's scream echoed across the vacuum as the raw energy hurled him through space. He tumbled across millions of kilometers, finally colliding with a distant asteroid cluster, barely clinging to consciousness.

Odin's eyes widened with fury and fear. His son's body was weak, barely holding on. If Thor wasn't saved immediately, the consequences would be unthinkable. Channeling all his divine power, Odin surged after him—but Thanos blocked him instantly, appearing like a shadow in the void.

"Now, no one will disturb our battle," Thanos said, calm and terrifying. His gaze held no fear, only cold precision.

Odin's heart pounded with rage. That monster had almost killed his son. Thor's shallow breaths were a cruel reminder of how close disaster had been.

"Thanos! Die!" Odin bellowed, the Spear of Eternity blazing with brilliant, pure white light. Simultaneously, his body radiated a soft, almost blinding glow—his full divine power unleashed in one surge.

Thanos responded instantly. The Tyrant Blade spun in a streak of purple light, colliding with Odin's beam. The force of the impact created a shockwave that rippled through the surrounding meteor fields, shattering nearby rocks into cosmic dust.

Odin's pulse raced, tension gripping him. Yet relief surged as he spotted Sif streaking across the battlefield. Every enemy that dared stand in her way fell in seconds, cut down with precision and deadly efficiency.

Still, the battlefield was far from favorable. Asgard's warriors, once overwhelming in numbers, had suffered tremendous losses. Warships lay in ruins, depleted of energy, and the relentless attacks from the Black Order left even the bravest Asgardian soldiers faltering.

No, thought Odin. He had to neutralize Thanos first, and only then could he turn to support his subordinates.

With a deep breath, Odin ended the energy shockwave. Gripping the Spear of Eternity tightly, he surged forward, the spear leaving streaks of white light as it cut through the void.

Ding!

Even as Thanos met him head-on, Odin did not falter. Each strike reverberated with immense power, a clash that shook even the distant remnants of meteorites. Thanos's destructive energy roared in response, his purple aura flaring, creating waves of distortion that warped space itself.

The battle pushed both combatants gradually to the edge of the star system, an area littered with meteorites ranging from a few meters to hundreds of kilometers. This natural barrier, meant to shield the system from external impacts, now became their arena.

A massive meteor, over 100 kilometers wide, slammed against Thanos as Odin drove him backward. The impact shattered the rock into dozens of jagged fragments, which scattered violently in all directions. Thanos used the debris to steady himself, laughing with a cruel sense of amusement.

"Is this the power of the galaxy's rulers? Nothing special!" he sneered, activating his Ruler's Skill. In an instant, his energy surged again, an overwhelming purple force that pressed against Odin like a tidal wave.

"What?!" Odin gasped. Thanos had been holding back. The new surge of power revealed that he was several levels above Odin's current output.

With a roar, Odin unleashed all his remaining divine power—but this time, a golden light shimmered within the white energy radiating from him. Above the battlefield, a phantom of a golden cup manifested.

"Dropnell Cup," Thanos muttered under his breath, recalling the artifact's name. The cup was a support-type divine artifact, capable of accelerating recovery, restoring energy, and temporarily amplifying strength.

Odin's transformation did not end there. His armor glowed a radiant gold, and his helmet morphed into the shape of an eagle, wings flaring majestically across his head. Though the Eagle Helmet and Golden Armor were lesser-known divine artifacts, their combined effects elevated Odin's power further.

With the four divine artifacts now active—Spear of Eternity, Dropnell Cup, Golden Armor, and Eagle Helmet—Odin's strength finally rivaled Thanos. He surged forward, forcing Thanos backward with sheer force, retreating slightly while maintaining a relentless barrage of energy from the Spear.

This attack was no longer a single shockwave. It was continuous, beams of pure white light firing like divine lasers, unyielding and unrelenting. Thanos swiped the Tyrant Blade casually, deflecting streams of energy and sending them crashing into nearby meteorites. Odin's beams pulverized the rocks, reducing even massive meteorites into cosmic dust within moments.

The battlefield became a chaotic storm of energy and debris. Meteorites larger than ten kilometers were obliterated. Shards of cosmic rock ricocheted in all directions, carrying with them the echoes of divine conflict.

Even Odin, with all his experience, felt the immense strain. His body radiated heat and light, every nerve and muscle channeling absolute power. Yet Thanos matched him blow for blow, his energy a dark, suffocating tide that threatened to crush everything around them.

Thor, now recovering thanks to Sif's intervention, watched from a distance. His hammer, nearly shattered from the earlier attack, glowed faintly as he channeled his lightning. Even weakened, he was ready to leap back into the fray—but Odin's command restrained him.

"Thor! Wait!" Odin shouted, knowing the stakes. Thanos had not yet revealed his full strength. Even a lightning strike from Thor could not pierce the giant's defenses alone.

But Thor's eyes burned with determination. The screams of the fallen Warriors Three haunted him, and he could not stand idle. His grip on Mjolnir tightened, the storm in his heart matching the storm in his hands.

Odin, sensing his son's fury, realized the delicate balance: Thanos was powerful beyond imagination, but Odin himself could hold him—if he maintained control and used every artifact at his disposal. Misstep, and both father and son could die, leaving Asgard vulnerable to total annihilation.

Thanos laughed—a deep, resonant sound that echoed through the star system. "Finally," he murmured. "An opponent worthy of my strength." Purple energy swirled around him, thicker and darker than before, a visible manifestation of his full power.

Odin's heart tightened. This was no ordinary battle—it was the clash of titans, a confrontation that would reshape the system itself. The debris from destroyed meteorites and shattered energy beams lit the void in chaotic bursts of white and purple, reflecting the titanic scale of their fight.

The two warriors continued exchanging blows, each strike sending shockwaves through the vacuum. The force of their energy could have obliterated entire planets if focused on a larger target. The golden light from Odin's artifacts clashed with Thanos's purple aura, creating blinding flashes and arcs of energy that danced across the shattered remains of the meteor belt.

Even Sif and the remaining Asgardian forces could only watch, powerless, as their leaders battled. Odin's every movement was precise, deliberate, a veteran's control attempting to counter Thanos's overwhelming force.

Yet one thing became clear: Thanos had more hidden reserves. Odin could feel it, a subtle but terrifying shift in his opponent's energy—a latent strength he had yet to unleash.

The battle had reached its tipping point. Every meteorite in the vicinity was destroyed. The void was filled with glowing fragments, streams of white and purple energy streaking across the battlefield, crackling and smashing into each other.

Odin's armor gleamed, his helmet eagle-shaped and radiant, the Dropnell Cup's golden aura reinforcing his divine body. He had finally matched Thanos—not entirely, but enough to withstand the fury of the Mad Titan.

And yet, as Odin pushed forward, sending Thanos tumbling back with raw force, the purple giant only smiled. He thrived in battle, eager to face the full measure of Odin's might.

This was more than war. It was a test, a deadly chess match played in the void of space, with the fate of Asgard and countless worlds hanging in the balance.
