I needed to get myself together.
Because at this point, every tiny expression from Caspian felt life-changing, and that probably was not healthy, but I don't think my heart cares about my health more than it cares about seeing that small grin on his beautiful face again.
The silence settled again after that, softer now, less strained than before. I kept driving, my hands finally loosening slightly on the steering wheel now that I wasn't actively humiliating myself every five seconds.
And slowly—very slowly—I started remembering something important.
Caspian wasn't a stranger.
My brain had been treating this entire thing like I had somehow been thrown onto a first date with the most terrifyingly beautiful man alive without warning, but the truth was… I already knew him.
Not completely.
Not deeply enough.
But enough.
We had spent over a year talking.
