I'm standing in front of the car, and I still can't get my mind to properly accept what just happened.

It keeps looping in a way that feels almost useless, like my brain is trying to force meaning into something that happened too fast for me to properly process. I keep replaying it from the beginning, from the moment I asked, to the way he looked at me, to the exact pause before he answered, as if I examine it closely enough, I'll suddenly understand what reality I'm supposed to be living in right now.

Or at least… he didn't say no.

And that's the part I can't move past. Because I prepared myself for rejection. I built the entire conversation in my head, assuming it would end cleanly and painfully. I was ready for distance. For coldness. For the usual wall he puts up when things get too close.

But he didn't do that.

He stayed in it.
