The shower helped.
I barely had enough energy left to stand properly by the time Ryland shut the water off.
Steam still curled faintly around the bathroom, clinging to the mirrors and the walls, and I was standing there trying to catch my breath when Ryland stepped closer again. He grabbed a towel first and wrapped it securely around his waist before reaching for another one.
Then a robe.
Before I could even ask what he was doing, he stepped behind me and carefully slid it around my shoulders.
The soft fabric settled against my damp skin immediately, warm compared to the cool air left behind by the shower.
I opened my mouth to say something.
But Ryland was already moving.
Again.
His arm slid beneath my knees while the other wrapped around my back, lifting me off the floor before I could react fast enough to stop him.
"Grayson—"
"No."
I stared at him in disbelief as he carried me out of the bathroom like this was the most normal thing in the world.
