"Tell me the truth, father." Alex said, walking into his father's office without knocking.
"Are you really okay with Jett dating a boy?"
Their father exhaled slowly, like the question weighed more than it sounded.
He stood up from the office chair and walked the tall windows that overlooked the city. "I already told you. I said it is okay."
"That's not what I asked," Alex snapped. "I asked if you're okay with it."
There was a brief silence between the both of them. Their father rubbed a hand over his face before answering.
"No," he said quietly. "I'm not."
Alex's lips pressed into a thin line. "Then why did you sit there and act like it was nothing?" he demanded.
"Because reacting the way you wanted me to would've solved nothing." Their father replied calmly. "Do you think shouting at him would change anything? Or do you think telling him he's wrong would suddenly make him stop?"
"It would've made him at least think twice!" Alex shot back.
