"Improving Chidori itself?"
Kakashi looked puzzled and asked, "How would you improve it?"
This touched on a blind spot in his knowledge.
Just developing Chidori had already consumed a great deal of his time and energy.
So far, he hadn't thought about developing any other variations.
"Chidori is a Lightning Release Ninjutsu that combines nature transformation and shape transformation, right? Then you can work on its shape transformation."
Seiryū spoke clearly and smoothly. "There are many forms of shape transformation."
"Take Rasengan, for example."
As he spoke, Seiryū raised his right hand and formed a Rasengan in his palm, which spun rapidly as he explained, "This is a standard Rasengan."
"Increase the amount of chakra injected, maintain a higher rotation rate and size, and it becomes the Great Ball Rasengan."

"Besides the Great Ball and Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan, there are many other variants. I won't list them all. But these are all derivatives formed through shape transformation."
Dispersing the Rasengan in his hand, Seiryū continued, "My point is, even a technique like Rasengan has many derivative versions just from shape transformation. Since Chidori also combines shape and nature transformation, there are many possibilities."
"The simplest one: aren't you good at swordsmanship? You can channel the lightning from Chidori into your short sword to enhance the power of your slashes. Lightning has a paralysis effect, so the lethality would be stronger."
Hearing that, Kakashi's eyes lit up. "Why didn't I think of that?"
It wasn't that Kakashi hadn't considered such applications.
It was just that Chidori had only been developed recently, and he had been focused on resolving its flaws.

"S-rank Ninjutsu wouldn't be enough to describe it. The entire Ninja World would be shaken. Your Ninjutsu would set a precedent, and an SSS-rank technique would be born."
"With that, Konoha would be begging you to become Hokage. You could even start your own clan. I'd be standing on the sidelines shouting with envy."
Seiryū was getting more and more carried away.
But truth be told, if one had the strength...
Chidori Sharp Spear could really become the 'Excalibur' of a certain ahoge king and split the world apart.
Just look at a certain movie. Someone's golden sword literally sliced the moon in half.

Listening to Seiryū's increasingly bizarre ideas, Kakashi's face filled with question marks.
Combining Chidori with a blade and changing its shape into a sword—that was doable.
The "Chidori Sharp Spear" that Seiryū named also seemed possible.
But eighty meters? A thousand meters? And what was "Excalibur"? That was getting completely absurd.
Was that even still Ninjutsu?

They had been together for over three years, so Kakashi was used to this.
According to Kurenai, it was a "condition."
And it was something even Tsunade-sama had no way to treat.
Exhaling deeply, Kakashi said with admiration, "You really are a genius. Just one look and you already know how to develop new derivatives."
"Anyone else would think you'd studied my Chidori for years—"
He was sure this was the first time Seiryū had seen his Chidori.
Only the members of Team 7 knew about it.
And yet, just after one look, Seiryū had already thought of so many derivative ideas?
What kind of brain was this?
Seiryū came back to his senses and waved his hand. "That's just the length aspect of shape transformation. You can't neglect width either."
"Right now, Chidori only gathers in your right hand. It's a close-range thrusting technique meant for targeting a single enemy."
"But what if you could expand its coverage across your whole body?"
Without waiting for Kakashi's reply, Seiryū said directly, "Then it becomes both offensive and defensive. A technique that could attack multiple enemies indiscriminately, a wide-area AOE Ninjutsu. Let's name it Chidori Stream!"
Seiryū began again, "If Chidori Stream could cover the whole Ninja World, or even the entire planet, you could manipulate the magnetic field beneath your feet to spin—forward, backward, left, right, any way you wanted!"
"Planetary rotation would be under your control. 'The sun rising in the west' wouldn't just be a phrase anymore—it could become reality."
"Way cooler than that Rasengan: Uzuhiko, which spins with the planet's rotation and never stops attacking as long as the world keeps spinning."
"You could even stop the planet from spinning—"
The corner of Kakashi's mouth twitched wildly under his mask.
This is getting out of hand.
"Stop!!"
Kakashi quickly stopped Seiryū's wild thoughts. He didn't even bother to comment on how ridiculous it had become.
He was already used to it.
He was surrounded by "unique" people.
Guy's abstract behavior, Seiryū's episodes, Obito's baseless confidence, Asuma's fake maturity...
He had seen it all.
Kakashi's tone turned serious as he expressed his gratitude. "The Chidori Sharp Spear and Chidori Stream you mentioned do seem feasible. I'll try developing them in those directions. Thank you, Seiryū."
"If you want, I can teach you how to use Chidori—"
Without Seiryū's input, he might not have thought of these derivative techniques.
Inspiration and direction were just as valuable as developing a new technique itself.
They were enough to be treated as brand new Ninjutsu.
