Chapter 114 - Chapter 115: Kakashi’s Chidori

Today, Seiryū found himself with a rare bit of free time.

Tsunade had given their team a few days off.

After nearly three months of hard labor, Seiryū was feeling worn out. He was only nine years old and already being forced to work.

Konoha's system was truly inhumane.

This was child abuse.

Unfortunately, Konoha didn't have a child protection organization. If they did, every lawsuit would be a guaranteed win!

With nothing to do, Seiryū planned to visit some friends.

He also wanted to see how far Kakashi had come in developing his new technique, Chidori.

If he remembered correctly...

In the original story, Kakashi had already mastered Chidori by the time he met his Jōnin Instructor, Minato, for the traditional bell-snatching "assessment."

However, with his presence as a butterfly effect...

Kakashi hadn't graduated at age five. Instead, it was delayed until age eight.

Perhaps due to inexperience, Kakashi hadn't completely perfected Chidori while at the Ninja Academy.

Now another three months had passed.

He wondered if Kakashi had fully developed Chidori yet.

If not, Seiryū didn't mind giving him a few pointers.

Seiryū had already passed the "newbie phase," and the system would soon issue new missions.

Maybe he could continue farming new missions from Kakashi and the others.

Using cheats was definitely faster than cultivating bitterly.

Before long.

Seiryū arrived at the Hatake residence and knocked on the door.

Footsteps approached, and Kakashi opened the door. Seeing that it was Seiryū, he looked slightly surprised. "Seiryū? What are you doing here?"

"Just came to visit, and check in on how you've been lately."

Seiryū answered briefly, then looked into the house and asked, "Is Uncle Sakumo not home?"

"He's out on a mission."

Kakashi replied, then stepped aside to let Seiryū in.

He went to the kitchen, poured a cup of tea, and handed it to Seiryū. "Don't you have a mission today?"

Seiryū took the teacup, took a sip, and said, "Day off. Got a more dangerous mission in a couple of days. Speaking of which, have you guys taken any C-rank missions yet?"

"Not yet."

Kakashi shook his head and said calmly, "But Minato-sensei is preparing to let us take on some more difficult ones."

Seiryū said, "Our generation's pace should be about the same. You need to complete a set number of D-rank missions before being allowed to take C-rank ones."

Newly graduated Genin had to complete a quota of D-rank missions before they were eligible to take on more dangerous C-rank ones.

Then, Seiryū asked the real question on his mind. "By the way, how's the development of your new technique going? Have you perfected it?"

Kakashi didn't hide anything. "More or less mastered it, but there are still some issues."

"Chidori is a thrust-type Ninjutsu that focuses on a one-hit kill. It requires pushing speed to the absolute limit, but my eyes can't keep up with it—"

After three months of developing and refining, he had successfully completed Chidori.

But there were still lingering problems he hadn't been able to solve.

Seiryū nodded slightly. "I see."

As a transmigrator, Seiryū naturally knew about Chidori's side effects.

In the original story, this side effect wasn't solved until Kakashi transplanted one of Obito's Sharingan.

In other words...

The ones most suitable for Chidori—or rather, Raikiri—were those with ocular Bloodline Limits.

Seiryū smiled and said, "Can you show me? Maybe I can help think of a solution. I'm pretty good in this area."

"Alright."

Kakashi was not one for unnecessary words and didn't refuse.

He knew Seiryū's talent. Minato-sensei's Rasengan had only been fully perfected because of Seiryū.

Maybe Seiryū really could find a way to fix Chidori's flaw.

"Lightning Release: Chidori!"

In the backyard, Kakashi formed hand seals, gripping his right wrist with his left hand.

Lightning chakra quickly gathered in his right palm, producing a high-pitched chirping sound, like a thousand birds crying in unison.

Swoosh!

Then Kakashi moved. The Lightning Release chakra activated his body, and his Body Flicker Technique became even faster.

In a straight-line dash, like a flash of light, he reached the wooden training post in an instant.

Chirp!

Sparks of lightning burst from his palm as the sound of chirping intensified. A single thrust pierced cleanly through the wooden post, leaving a hole straight through. The destructive power was terrifying.

Phew—

Withdrawing his right hand from the post, Kakashi exhaled slowly.

Chidori still consumed a lot of chakra. At his current level, he could only use it twice before running dry.

"This is the Lightning Release Ninjutsu I developed. Because the sound it makes is like a thousand birds chirping, I named it Chidori."

Kakashi briefly introduced the technique.

Then he turned to Seiryū and said, "Minato-sensei said it's still an incomplete technique, due to its side effect. Only after that flaw is resolved can it be considered perfected."

Seiryū said, "Its destructive power isn't quite as good as Rasengan, but the piercing ability is stronger. It should be an A-rank Ninjutsu, right?"

Kakashi nodded. "Yes. Both Minato-sensei and my father evaluated it as A-rank."

"Do you think there's a way to fix Chidori's flaw?"

Kakashi looked at Seiryū.

The reason he was always second-best at the Ninja Academy was because of Seiryū constantly pressing him down like a mountain.

He had poured so much time and energy into developing Chidori, but Seiryū seemed to have already created many new techniques.

Both his father and Minato-sensei said Seiryū's talent for developing Ninjutsu was comparable to the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama.

No—he surpassed him.

Because Seiryū was simply too young.

"There is."

Seiryū laughed and said casually, "The best solution is to transplant a pair of eyes with top-tier dynamic vision, like the Uchiha's Sharingan or the Hyūga's Byakugan."

Kakashi fell silent. "..."

You really dared to say it!

"Of course, that's not very realistic. You'd be beaten to death."

Seiryū was just joking.

He continued, "Instead, you can start from the angle of Sensory Ninjutsu. Predicting the enemy's next move in advance should resolve Chidori's flaw to a certain extent."

Kakashi shook his head. "Konoha's Sensory Ninjutsu mostly focus on detecting or tracking chakra. There aren't any that can predict an enemy's next action."

Seiryū was momentarily stunned. "Konoha doesn't have Sensory Ninjutsu similar to Kenbunshoku Haki?"

Kakashi paused, then said, "I don't know what this Kenbunshoku Haki is, but among the Sensory Ninjutsu I know, none can predict the opponent's next move."

"No wonder."

Seiryū finally understood.

In the original work, it wasn't that Kakashi didn't consider that direction—it was because Konoha didn't have that kind of Sensory Ninjutsu.

In his memory, Karin's Mind's Eye of the Kagura, the passive sensing of Sage Mode, and the negative emotion sensing of the Nine-Tails Mode.

Those did have predictive effects.

But each was harder to learn than the last, and ordinary people couldn't train in them.

The requirements were too steep.

Seiryū had thought Konoha would have some kind of Kenbunshoku-like Sensory Ninjutsu, even a weaker version.

Turns out, they didn't.

If Sensory Ninjutsu wasn't a viable path, he'd just look for another solution.

Seiryū indicated that he also understood Chidori quite well, so he smiled and said, "Since boosting perception isn't very feasible, then let's work on improving the Chidori technique itself—"
