Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Holiday Heat

The school gates closed behind them with a soft clang, and for the first time in weeks, Yumi felt the sweet release of freedom. No lectures. No classmates staring. No jealous glares or tense confrontations. Just the long, open stretch of summer ahead—and Pherrie's teasing smirk right beside her.

"So… holidays," Pherrie drawled, hands in his pockets as they walked along the quiet streets. "Finally, we can have some fun without worrying about anyone watching."

Yumi's heart skipped. "Fun… like what?"

He stopped suddenly and turned to face her, his gaze locking with hers. "Oh, Princess… I was thinking about things like long walks, late-night ice cream, stealing your attention whenever I want…" His voice dipped into that teasing, low tone that always made her knees weaken.

Yumi flushed, trying to hide the way her heart hammered. "Y-You're impossible."

"And yet," Pherrie replied, leaning just a bit closer, "you let me be."

The air seemed to crackle around them, the teasing warmth of his presence making it impossible to focus on anything else. Yumi felt her chest tighten every time he smiled that knowing smirk, every time his fingers brushed hers—lightly, but deliberately.

From across the street, Kai's voice rang out, laughing lightly. "Enjoying your freedom, huh?"

Yumi looked up to see her walking alongside Damian, who scowled but didn't approach. Kai's eyes flicked between Yumi and Pherrie, a mix of amusement and irritation in her gaze.

Pherrie's hand found hers without hesitation. "Ignore them," he murmured. "We have all the time in the world, Princess. Just us."

Yumi's pulse raced. Holidays, it seemed, weren't just about freedom—they were about the closeness, the teasing, and the warmth that Pherrie brought wherever he went. Every laugh, every soft glance, every playful nudge made her feel lighter and heavier at the same time.

They wandered to the edge of a quiet park, the grass soft under their feet, petals drifting from nearby trees like tiny, drifting confetti. Pherrie suddenly stopped, spinning Yumi gently so she was facing him. His eyes held hers, intense and teasing all at once.

"You know," he whispered, leaning closer, "I think I'm going to enjoy having you all to myself these holidays."

Yumi's breath hitched. "P-Pherrie!"

He grinned, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "What? I'm just stating facts. You're mine, Princess, and I don't plan on sharing."

Her cheeks heated, and her heart pounded. The world seemed to shrink around them—just the two of them, the teasing, the laughter, and the promise of days that could stretch endlessly, wrapped in warmth and playful tension.

For the first time, Yumi realized: holidays weren't just about freedom. They were about letting herself fall into the pull she couldn't resist… and letting Pherrie take her there, teasing, protective, and dangerously close.

And she wouldn't have it any other way.
