[4 days ago from Present Day]
2 weeks.
2 weeks when our son was taken away
2 weeks ago when everything has changed since that day…
For weeks, we have searched for solutions, lawyers and even the police however none ever responded with a clear answer
Li An sat on the living room couch, looking at his photos and videos through the phone-The memories of them being together rather than in this familiar yet unease quiet home.
The front door then opened, walked in was her husband-Wu Shao Ning who has a visible tired and exhausted expression on his face.
Li An: "Do we have news on the lawyers?"
Wu Shao Ning: "...…No...He left after hearing on the details. He said it would be difficult and time consuming on the Zhong Family mental hospital situation"
Li An: "Shao Ning, that was the second lawyer we have. This isn't normal. We should find a private investigator"
Wu Shao Ning: "I know! Why did you think where have I been! I have been searching for lawyers, connections, relatives! Just to get our son out!"
Li An: "...…Why are you so loud at me! Why are you shouting at me, I am your wife!"
Wu Shao Ning: "…Let's wait for the police to respond...…"
Li An: "Shao Ning! Have you seen the police report they sent this morning?!"
Li An then slammed the police report on the living room table extremely loud, it's echo surrounded the living room for a few seconds.
Wu Shao Ning slowly picked up the police report. Titled 'Chongqing Official Police Statement Report'. He then read the following:
'Dear Mr Wu and Ms Li. We're from the Official Chongqing Police Department. After much further investigation on the case, we can firmly and officially concluded that the deceased cause of death was suicide. Due to the public unrest, Mr Li Heng unstable mental condition and advices from psychologists. The Zhong Family mental health hospital has decided to place temporary psychotherapy until further notice.
Commissioner Chai
Chongqing Police Department'
Wu Shao Ning froze, the report slowly slipping away from his hands and falling onto the ground but no way picked it up, too shocked in the moment
He slowly put down his bag and lay on the couch next to Li An. They never talked for a few minutes, still processing the moment. Li An then leans on Wu Shao Ning, tears slowly rolls down her face.
Li An: "Shao Ning, what are we going to do…?"
Wu Shao Ning said nothing. He hugged his wife tightly on her shoulders as the two sat together in silence until someone knocked on the front door
…
They both slowly got up and walked through the front door, the knocking sound stopped. As Wu Shao Ning peeked through the peephole, he saw Chen Xian outside at the hallway, unsettled and scared like a kitten
Back at the living room, the two parents sat on the couch while Chen Xian sat at another couch beside them, her hands sat on her legs, eyes constantly blinking and looking everywhere and the glass of waters on the tables simultaneously.
Li An: "Chen Xian" She suddenly spoke
Chen Xian: "Ah-Yes? Sorry, Aunty Li...I just...…Want to know how Li Heng is doing!..That's all..." Her voice spoke with uncertainty and at the last part with more unsettling and quietly
Li An: "...We don't know yet…"
Wu Shao Ning coughed lightly and looked at Chen Xian
Wu Shao Ning: "Chen Xian, how are your friend group being doing?"
Chen Xian looked down in silence, her face blocked by her head staring down at the ground
Chen Xian: "It's not good, all of us have been facing rumors. Ren Yen couldn't handle it and …Left us...…Yong Sheng and his friends got into fights daily because of this…Ren Yen too...Yong Sheng fought with him a while back"
…
Chen Xian: "I'm sorry…"
The sudden words filled the air as the two parents unable to react or reply with her words
Chen Xian: "I'm sorry…That I couldn't be…A better friend to Li Heng"
Li An and Wu Shao Ning looked at each other and slowly patted Chen Xian's shoulders
Li An: "Chen Xian, we always thought you all as our children. We appreciated that you were by his side…As his friend."
Hearing this, Chen Xian slowly looked down to the ground, tears slowly dropped from his face and onto the ground. The hiccups and loud sneezing sounds filled the living room
[3 days ago from present day]
At the Chongqing police station, it was a stormy day for both the police station and Yu Ting as her inner heart was filled with mixed emotions
Police Officer 1: "Good morning, Sister Yu"
Police Officer 2: "Good morning"
As she walked to Commissioner Chai's office, she noticed the visible respects from the police officers, something she never had before. Tempting yet dangerous. With her thoughts and doubts, she entered the office and saw the Commissioner sitting at his desk with several documents and reports put neatly in front of him.
Commissioner Chai: "Welcome, Yu Ting. Please…Sit"
Commissioner Chai: "So, how was your school life?"
She sat down slowly and looking at him unsettling.
Yu Ting: "It's nothing, sir. I have completed the mission"
Commissioner Chai sat back on his chair, lighted a cigarette beside him as he continued listening
Commissioner Chai: "Good...Very good. Who know that such a normal mission could have some interesting and unexpected outcomes"
Yu Ting said nothing as Commissioner Chai placed one of the files in front of her, gesturing her to open
Yu Ting: "What is this, sir?"
She slowly opened the document. Inside, it shows a middle age couple soaked in their bloods on the floor. She flinched and nearly dropped it however was composed enough to hold it
Commissioner Chai: "An incident report from yesterday. One of our suspects family-Cheng Xi's family was found murdered of each other…Or that's what the forensic report said."
Yu Ting: "That's impossible…"
Commissioner Chai: "We suspect to be someone extremely secretive involved before our department heads called off the investigation and remained as it was with no further operations"
Yu Ting slowly sink to the revelations, this wasn't normal. Everything about this was abnormal in reality. Her thoughts tangled with each other
Commissioner Chai: "...Another thing, the court suddenly want to start a trail on our another suspect- Li Heng"
Yu Ting thoughts went blank, she looked up at him in confusion and Commissioner Chai then suddenly got up abd started to walk behind her
Yu Ting: "...…Why?" That's the only word that she could squeezed out in her blank mind.
Commissioner Chai: "...That's not my word to call. That's the court to said…I've already assigned the Crime unit to inform Li Heng…"
Yu Ting: "What about his parents? Did they know yet?"
Commissioner Chai: "…Not yet and the court demands only the results could be informed to the family"
…
Commissioner Chai: "But are you?Grateful with your promotion?"
She can't reply. Too sudden. Too quick. Too unexpected
He then placed one of his hand of Yu Ting's shoulders and whispered to her ear
Commissioner Chai: "I expected rewards for your 'promotion' "
Commissioner Chai slowly placed his hands onto Yu Ting's chest, grabbing it slightly before Yu Ting got up abruptly, making Commissioner Chai flinched
Yu Ting: "I'm sorry, SIR!" She shouted as she quickly left the office, pushing everything away from her path and entered a stall in the toilet
Inside, Yu Ting leans onto the wall with trembling legs, pill bottle on her hand as she swallowed several pills into her mouth.
Yu Ting: "Stop...Stop" She muttered while covering her body with her hands to nobody
She then began vomiting onto the toilet bowl for a few seconds, the sounds echoing through the toilet.
After vomiting, she calmed down slightly when she accidentally looked at a photo of her university life…She pondered for a few seconds before rushing to the crime unit department where she accidentally bumped into them
Crime Unit Officer: "Watch it!"
Yu Ting: "I'm sorry, but for the Li Heng case, can you hand it to me?! Please, I have orders from the Commissioner!"
Crime Unit Officer: "...Look, I need proof"
Yu Ting: "Please, just this once!"
The Crime Unit officer looked visibly angered however still gave the documents to Yu Ting unwillingly before she rushed to the mental hospital
Back at Li Heng's home, the silence filled the home as the normal warmness being replaced by cold silence air. Li An took one last glance at Li Heng's untouched room, thick dust fills the room and furniture, his worn clothes, his things remained unmoved before closing the door firmly
She then enters her bedroom and saw a family photo of the desk, she picked it up with trembling hands and looked it closely as tears silently drops from her face, onto the floor. Sitting silently at the bed breaking down.
Wu Shao Ning stayed outside the room, leaning on the door, listening to his wife breakdown while he's powerless to do anything
Listen
As the sound of his wife sobbing fills the once warm house
