In the Kazekage's tower, everything remained exactly as Daigo had left it, except that his office had been occupied by the Third Kazekage.

He was the one responsible for guiding the village while the young leader was away during his training period to improve his strength.

In the center of the office, a dense cloud of white smoke slowly dissipated to reveal Daigo's figure. He had not crossed the great gates of Sunagakure, nor had he been escorted by the guard of honor through the main streets; he had returned directly to the epicenter of his office.

As he stood up, Daigo exhaled a long, deep sigh, feeling the dry, familiar air of his home for the first time in twenty-four months. He was in his normal state, with no trace of the yellow marks or the emerald glow of Sage Mode, but his mere physical presence filled the room in a way it hadn't before.

He had grown significantly; his shoulders were broader, his jawline was more defined, and his gaze possessed a cold calm and a maturity that is only acquired as the years pass.

He approached the large balcony of the office, watching as the sun hit the village. Fixing his gaze on the streets, he noticed the smiles of children and new faces he didn't remember.

He also saw that the tunnel remained active with new people entering and leaving; he couldn't be happier to see how everything was going.

A roar of shouts drew his attention toward the coliseum area. With a fluid and almost imperceptible movement, Daigo used the shunshin, disappearing from the office and instantly reappearing on the edge of the stadium's highest roof.

From there, like a hawk watching its territory, he fixed his eyes on the central arena.

Two academy students, as far as he could see, were in the middle of their final graduation exam.

Just as Daigo had ordered before leaving for his training, the mediocre and generalist training had died to give way to technical specialization.

One of the students wielded a katana with a fluid kenjutsu technique, moving quickly to find his rival's blind spots. His opponent, a boy with a determined look, held a long staff, moving it with a dexterity that turned the wood into an impassable barrier.

Daigo nodded to himself, pleased to see that the level of the students was much higher than in previous years. The battle was a tense dance of steel against wood, an exchange of blows that sent sparks flying and kicked up the dust of the arena.

Finally, the staff user managed to deflect a side cut from the katana and, with a quick lever movement, disarmed his opponent, positioning the end of the staff right at the rival's neck.

The victory was decided.

Daigo nodded, noting that while the technique lacked some polish, it was at least enough to disarm his opponent and win the battle; he would have to read the files from these years to see which students showed promise.

Without warning, a swirl of pink crystals erupted in the very center of the arena, kicking up a curtain of glowing dust that momentarily blinded those present. The crowd, which a second before was shouting with fervor, fell silent at the scene.

When the crystal vanished, Daigo was there, standing between the two children. The astonishment was general; for many of the inhabitants and new ninjas, the Kazekage was the reason everything had been going perfectly for the Sand lately.

And although he hadn't presented himself to the public in two years, everyone expected him to come out soon, so seeing him here was a joy for everyone, who shouted his name:

"FOURTH KAZEKAGE! FOURTH KAZEKAGE! FOURTH KAZEKAGE!" those were their synchronized shouts, causing Daigo to remove his hat in response.

When the public seemed to calm down, Daigo cleared his throat, using chakra so that everyone could hear him.

"Hello everyone, I am glad to see that the village and its citizens are happy. As you may already know, there is already a winner who will become a ninja of Sunagakure," Daigo said, looking at everyone, who began to shout again.

Looking at the two children, he could notice their eyes of fascination at seeing him and the respect they had for him without having seen him even once.

"Be happy," Daigo declared with a voice that carried a peace that reassured the children, looking both students in the eye.

"You have demonstrated the tenacity and specialization that this village demands of its ninjas. Not only will the winner become a ninja; both of you have proven worthy of wearing our headband. Today, both of you have passed the academy exam".

This made both children smile at having managed to become ninjas. The public also supported them, making Daigo feel it was time to leave.

Seeing the person in charge of the final exam, he nodded to him before disappearing again in a swirl of crystal.

Appearing in one of the hallways outside the coliseum, Daigo sighed at all the noise, although he felt the familiar presence of someone waiting for him. Looking over, he smiled. It was Sasori.

Though his hair was a bit longer and his "baby fat" had completely disappeared.

"You've returned more changed than I expected, Daigo, though as always already causing trouble," Sasori said in his usual tone of voice, though there was a flash of recognition in his eyes.

"Same goes for you, Sasori. Look at you, you don't even have that baby fat you always had; you're a bit taller now too," Daigo said, observing him.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, obviously, I'm 16 now. Don't ignore my question; you're already causing trouble and the council sent me to find you," Sasori said, sighing.

"They're already calling me? Well, let's go there. I want to see what they've done and have them tell me about it. how is Grandma Chiyo and Karinna doing," Daigo asked as they began to walk.

"Grandma is perfect; she's helping me lead the puppet unit and improving many things," Sasori said.

"And Karinna?" Daigo asked him again. At this, Sasori looked away.

"Fine as well," he said in a low voice.

Daigo, using his seismic sense, noticed how Sasori's heart rate seemed to increase, causing him to crack a smile.

"So my little brother has a girlfriend now and doesn't want to tell his big brother?" he said, hitting Sasori on the back.

Sasori, surprised, only nodded understanding he can't hide anything to Daigo. "I don't know how you knew, but yes. We started dating a year ago... and she forced me," Sasori said.

"Heh, I expected as much. If it were up to you, you'd never do it. Congratulations. Let's use shunshin, because if we don't, we'll never get there," Daigo said, and they both disappeared.

Upon entering the room, Daigo found that everyone was already gathered, alerted by the news of his return and his appearance at the coliseum.

The Third Kazekage, who had been in charge of the daily management of the village during his absence, stood up to formally hand over command.

The councilors quickly deployed intelligence reports detailing the global situation.

"Well, now that I'm back, I can tell you that things went quite well for me. Now it's my turn to get back to work, though I see things went well in these two years. I'll need a summary of everything," Daigo said, sitting in the Kage's seat.

"Of course, Kazekage-sama. Everything has gone as you ordered. First, Sunagakure's economy is better than ever," one of the veteran councilors began.

"The trade routes in Kanzaki and throughout the Land of Wind are safer and more profitable than they have been in decades. Even the Daimyo has sent letters expressing great satisfaction with the work Suna is achieving".

Daigo, who listened to the councilor speak, also looked at the papers showing the growth as well as the businesses they had been conducting.

"Not bad. Things have been going up. We've also received many civilians and merchants from other countries," Daigo said aloud.

"That is correct, Kazekage. We have taken care of bringing in new merchants and even doing business. Civilians have also moved in, although we have placed them in a zone where they will be on trial before becoming full citizens of Sunagakure".

"Perfect decision. Surely among the civilian families there are spies from the other villages, although the Anbu will take care of that. Let's continue with the next thing," Daigo said.

Thus they continued with the summary for Daigo. The exterior panorama was much more turbulent and demanded immediate attention.

He learned that Iwagakure remained mired in a slow recovery process after the losses of the war. On the other hand, Konohagakure was flourishing again, recovering its brilliance under the command of the Fifth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. Meanwhile, Kumogakure maintained small fights and constant skirmishes against Konoha in the border areas.

The most critical point turned out to be Kirigakure. The Village of the Mist was deeply upset and resentful over the loss of its 7 legendary swords and the death of its Kage, and they had even been sending sporadic attacks against various routes of interest. Under the command of the new Mizukage, Yagura the Jinchuriki, they had imposed a brutal rule: the systematic purge of all bloodlines and clans with kekkei genkai.

This interested Daigo more, who thought this wouldn't happen, but in the end, even if things change, there are others that never will.

"If they are stupid enough to discard their own strength, we will be smart enough to welcome it," Daigo sentenced, his interest awakening immediately at the possibility of strengthening Suna.

"I want us to prepare missions to contact those clans and recruit them. We will gain that strength for Sunagakure, as well as the bloodlines".

"Kazekage-sama, we understand your idea of recruiting, but I don't think we have space to bring in many clans," Chiyo said, having said nothing until then.

"Grandma Chiyo, don't worry. I have new plans and ideas that will help expand the village, so we can find a place for these clans".

The councilors, understanding that the Kazekage seemed to have everything already planned, nodded, interested in the proposal, but the discussion was suddenly interrupted when Rasa entered the meeting room with a look of extreme urgency.

After greeting those present, he addressed Daigo directly, indicating that what he brought was of full importance.

"I have received alarming information about an attack on a village," Rasa explained, spreading a report with detailed information on the table.

"All its inhabitants have been massacred and the houses were completely destroyed by gigantic crystal spikes. The attacks are very similar to your crystal".

Rasa fell silent for a moment, staring Daigo in the eye while the rest of the council held their breath.

"As we all know you have been away training for these two years... I have to officially ask you if you were the cause of this".

Daigo read the information about the destruction. "It wasn't me," he replied in a voice that admitted no doubt. "This is of the utmost importance; if there is someone else out there using crystal, we have to find them before the other villages do".

"That's right. With your fame, Kazekage-sama, and your crystal, this person cannot fall into other hands. They must be brought to Sunagakure," another councilor said.

"Then there is no one better to search than me. I will take a squad and leave right now," Daigo said.

"Daigo, I understand your urgency, but you cannot go. You are the Kazekage and there are matters you must attend to. You will have to leave the search to someone else," the Third Kazekage said.

"I think the same. You must assume your responsibility. You've been away and now you want to disappear again," Ebizu said.

At this, Daigo could only nod. He wanted to go see who this person was that had used the Shōton, but he couldn't; he had to stay here. Thinking about who to send, he thought of Sasori, but he would take too long to reach the zone, until a name came to his head.

"Fine, I'll stay. I know who will take charge of this. Pakura is in kanzaki. Use the high-importance bird and tell her to go find this person. I want them alive," Daigo said.

"Perfect, I'll do it right now, Daigo," Rasa said as he disappeared from his position to go to the messengers' area.

Thus the meeting continued, although Daigo was barely listening; he was trying to remember who from the anime used crystal. He knew there was someone, but he didn't remember their name.
