The meeting point for the Five Kage Summit was heavy with a thick, suffocating atmosphere. The Samurai guards were on high alert, ensuring that every corner was covered for the most important figures in the Shinobi world. Five Kages, each with two personal bodyguards, sat alongside Mifune, the leader of the Land of Iron.
Daigo, along with Pakura and Sasori, were the first to arrive. Daigo took his place at the table, but he didn't care for the formal rigidity of the summit. He made himself comfortable, leaning back with his bare feet resting on the edge of the oak table. His Kazekage hat was tilted forward, casting a deep shadow over his face and hiding his eyes.
To his right, Pakura stood with her arms crossed, her cold eyes scanning the room, ready to defend Daigo at a moment's notice. To his left, Hiruko the puppet containing Sasori stood motionless. Though it didn't look like it was in a combat stance, its metallic scorpion tail was coiled and primed to strike at any threat.
After a few minutes of waiting, the double doors of the hall swung open with a bang. Raikage Ay entered as if he were walking into his own office, flanked by Killer B and Dodai. Ay stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Daigo's posture. The veins in his neck bulged, and a flicker of blue lightning danced in his eyes.
"I see they don't teach manners in the desert, or maybe the sun has dried up all your brains," the Raikage growled, his voice echoing through the hall. "Take your feet off that table, brat, or I'll tear them off right here."
Daigo didn't move a muscle. He slowly lifted the brim of his hat with his index finger, revealing a pink eye that glowed with a gélid calm that stood in stark contrast to the Raikage's fire.
"You seem energetic today, Raikage. Shouldn't a greeting come first?" Daigo responded with a smirk.
Killer B let out a chuckle and began tapping a rhythm with his hands. "Yeah! The sand boy's got style, but if my brother gets mad, he turns into a whirlwind with fifteen swords!" B rapped.
"Not bad, Jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails, though you might want to work on that closing line," Daigo remarked.
"Not bad yourself! You seem to recognize talent. I think the same; how about this new verse—" Killer B started, but Ay interrupted him by slamming his fist onto the table.
Before the Raikage could speak, the doors opened again. Ōnoki, the Third Tsuchikage, floated in a few inches off the ground. His face was dead serious as he scanned the room, escorted by his son Kitsuchi and Rōshi, the Jinchuriki of the Four-Tails. The air became unbearable; the rivalry between Iwa and Kumo had reached a boiling point, especially for Ay, who had lost his father to Iwa shinobi.
"You're just like your father can't lower your voice. And Suna... always sending children to do a man's job," Ōnoki hissed, landing in his chair with a groan from his joints. "So, you're the new Kazekage, Daigo? Did the Third resign after the defeat he took?"
"I wonder the same about your village sending an old man to a Kage meeting. Don't you have a replacement?" Daigo retorted. "My Sensei is relaxing in the village. He knows I can handle everything."
Ōnoki could only glare at him in silence. It was a point he couldn't defend; despite having a massive number of shinobi, none were currently strong or wise enough to take his place as Tsuchikage.
A heavy silence followed until the doors opened for a third time.
The arrival of Orochimaru shifted the tone of the room. The Sannin entered with a terrifying calm, wearing the robes of the Fourth Hokage. Following him were Minato Namikaze, whose presence radiated a light that made a vein pop on Ōnoki's forehead, and to everyone's surprise, Hiashi Hyūga, whose pale, cold gaze analyzed every chakra flow in the room.
"Oh, so the Fourth Hokage, Orochimaru, honors us with his presence," Ōnoki said sarcastically. "I see Konoha was so desperate that they decided you were the best choice for a leader. Truly desperate times."
Orochimaru let out a sibilant laugh, sitting across from Daigo. "Tsuchikage, morality is a luxury for those not at war. Konoha needed results, and I am the man of results. At least I don't have to float to feel superior to the rest."
Minato crossed eyes with Daigo. The Yellow Flash gave a brief nod—a gesture of professional respect—which Daigo returned with a coldness that Minato hadn't expected.
The tension spiked even further when the Mist delegation entered. Daigo had felt their presence from afar: Mangetsu Hōzuki, escorted by Ringo and the young Yagura Mangetsu form the start came here to see a was to take back the swords Daigo had taken from his village.
With all the Kages finally at the table, the atmosphere turned deadly. Daigo stared at Mangetsu; both knew their previous battle wasn't over.
"That eyepatch looks good on you. A shame it didn't work out the way I planned," Mangetsu said to Daigo, who only smiled.
"A shame indeed. Though I think I look better this way. Next time, I'll turn you into a crystal statue," Daigo replied.
The other Kages watched the interaction between these two young leaders with curiosity. However, the chatter stopped when the door opened once more and Mifune entered with two samurai. He cleared his throat to command the room.
"Welcome, Kages. We are here to find a way out of this war. Let us begin."
Raikage Ay slammed the table again. "I want reparations from Iwa! Their Explosion Corps destroyed three of our supply bases outside of conflict zones. That is a violation of the laws of war!"
"Laws of war?" Ōnoki mocked. "You talk of laws while your ninjas were trying to kidnap heirs of other clans to steal Kekkei Genkai. Don't talk to me about honor, Ay. If your bases were destroyed, it was because of your own incompetence."
"Say that again, old man!" Ay shouted, standing up.
"Enough," Orochimaru intervened, his voice cutting through the shouting. "Your bickering is useless. It's obvious you both want to stop us from growing stronger since you've been pushed out of the war. Konoha proposes a redesign of the borders. If Suna returns Kanzaki and Iwa stops its constant expansion, we can establish a demilitarized zone."
Daigo let out a dry laugh. "It's funny that the one who has lost the most territory is the one proposing to 'redesign' borders. Kanzaki belongs to Suna. We won it because you couldn't keep it. I won't give up a single inch of fertile land just so Konoha can recover."
"Fertile land?" Mangetsu asked, speaking up for the first time. "Daigo, let's talk about what really matters to the Mist. You have the Samehada and the Kabutowari. Those swords are the soul of my village. Return them, and the Mist won't be a problem for Suna for a long time. We could even strike a deal."
The other Kages were shocked to hear that Suna had both swords, especially Samehada, the most powerful of the seven.
"I've said it before, Mizukage," Daigo replied, locking eyes with Mangetsu. "It's not that simple. The only way you're getting them back is for a Bijuu. If the Mist wants its toys back, it must hand over a weapon of equal caliber. I'm not going to re-arm your ninjas just so they can stab me in the back later."
"A Bijuu is too much!" Ringo Ameyuri yelled, her sharpened teeth glinting. "You're asking for the balance of nations!"
"If you're so desperate because you lost three swordsmen to a Konoha Genin, that's not my fault," Daigo stated, making Ringo grit her teeth in fury. "My offer is the only one. Take it, or get ready to see your swords in the hands of Suna ninjas."
The summit continued for two hours of useless haggling. Suddenly, Daigo's body tensed. It wasn't a physical move, but a surge in his chakra. Through the network of crystals he had buried in the soil of Kanzaki, he felt a specific vibration: Arata's emergency code. A massive explosion had occurred.
"It's over," Daigo said, standing up so fast his chair flew backward.
"We aren't finished here, Kazekage," Mifune said, frowning.
"Mifune, I don't think any of these Kages want the kind of peace you do," Daigo replied, his eyes fixed on Orochimaru, who wore a smirk of wicked satisfaction. "My instincts told me that with you as Hokage, I couldn't lower my guard. Mifune, while we are sitting here talking, Orochimaru's ninjas are on their way to Kanzaki. I'll make it clear to everyone here: Suna is not what it used to be. If you want war, I'll give it to you."
Without warning, Daigo, Pakura, and Sasori smashed through the ceiling in a burst of speed, vanishing into the snowstorm. Moments later, Orochimaru and his team did the same.
Several kilometers away in a frost-covered pine forest, the Suna team was intercepted. The ground exploded as hundreds of white snakes rose like a wall of flesh and venom. In front of them, the Yellow Flash appeared in a blinding spark. Orochimaru landed softly on a snake's head, while Hiashi Hyūga stood with his Byakugan activated, his veins bulging around his eyes.
"We won't let you return, Daigo-kun," Orochimaru hissed. "Danzō has a job to finish in Kanzaki, and you have no business there."
Daigo didn't look at the snake. His pink eyes were fixed directly on Minato Namikaze. The man everyone said was the savior of the Leaf held his kunai firmly, but his eyes were shadowed by a doubt that Daigo caught immediately.
"Minato," Daigo began, his voice heavy with a disappointment so deep the wind seemed to stop. "Did you accept this? Did you accept your village becoming a nest of rats that stabs people in the back during a peace summit?"
Minato didn't lower his weapon, but his voice trembled slightly. "Sometimes... you have to get your hands dirty to secure the future of those we love, Daigo. Konoha cannot allow Suna to control the pass to the Land of Fire."
"I see," Daigo said, letting out a bitter laugh. "I expected much more from you. I saw you as a rival worthy of respect, someone with true strength. But now I understand why you weren't chosen as Hokage. You don't have the spine to lead—only the obedience to be the attack dog of a snake like Orochimaru and a coward like Danzō."
Minato's face contorted with pain, but his combat stance grew even more rigid.
"I am deeply disappointed in you," Daigo declared as pink crystals began to coat his arms, forming brilliant gauntlets. "You aren't the Yellow Flash of Konoha. From now on, you're the Yellow Rat of Konoha."
Orochimaru let out a shrill laugh. "How touching! Minato-kun, looks like you've lost a fan. Now, let's kill them."
Daigo's chakra exploded, melting the snow in a ten-meter radius as pink crystals began sprouting from the earth, creating a forest of daggers ready for the slaughter. The true battle had just begun.
