Malia, Light, and Blora did not know what to say or how to react.
They never expected that things would take a turn like this, for a moment, Malia said.
"You should be dead..."
"Nobody can block the attack of our leader."
Her voice was cracking as she spoke. Maybe for the first time during her mission and standing as the enforcer of Light Upon Us, she was afraid.
She did not like this feeling at all. It was strange and not the feeling that she sought when she joined the cult in the first place.
Conrad shook his head.
There is no reason to speak and tell anything to these people.
He was already not feeling that great in terms of how this mission went on. If not for his life-saving ability, he would be dead for real.
That was a big mistake on his part.
In an instant as his eyes landed on Malia, he vanished from his existing place and manifested just behind her, and with a simple right-to-left swing, he beheaded the woman.
Now that he was angry and fed up with the mission. He was not taking his time to keep on fighting but focused on the direct and fastest way to kill.
In a sense, it was his first time that he acted with clear, boundless killing intent against his enemy and did not make a joke or a learning opportunity of it.
The beheading of Malia made Light and Blora come back to their senses, but it was too late; the eyes of Conrad were blank; nothing could be read from them.
He vanished again while Reginald and others jumped back for a moment to take it all in. They were too shocked but happy within.
As Conrad appeared again, this time he was behind Light. One slash, Light dodged it; two slashes, he was cut down a little bit; and with the third slash, he was cut from up to down—he was basically cut from the middle like a birthday cake.
When Conrad only focuses on killing and does not make any time for opponents to fight back, even Light, an enforcer of the Light Upon Us, has no chance to just stay still and die.
They can only dodge one or two moves of Conrad when he is bloodlusted.
With Light also dropped to the ground, dead and mutilated, Conrad turned his eyes to the last standing member.
Blora.
"So, you were the one that blocked all information..." he said for a moment.
Blora can hear her heart pounding in her chest, and the sound is resonating in her head like somebody is hitting her with a hammer constantly.
She took a step back, and sweat started dropping to the ground and making the dirt ground wet from the amount of it.
She doesn't know what to say; she tried every part of her mind to find a word to say to keep her alive.
"You created most of the problems," Conrad said again, and then he targeted her and then again vanished.
"No!" For survival, Blora tried to use her ability to protect, but the activation of the ability was a lot slower than Conrad blinking and appearing in front of her.
As Conrad appeared, he just swung the blade like he was trying to hit the butterflies, elegant and slow, a pretty calm swing, and cut a slash on her neck.
Compared to a beheading and getting cut in half, this was more of a torture than a mercy.
The blood started gushing out from Blora's neck to the ground; she dropped to her knees, holding her hands to stop the wound, but it was no use.
She could not say anything or even breathe properly due to blood sipping into her lungs and choking her out.
Conrad said nothing as he just watched her die from the bloodlust; it took forty seconds for her to pass away and then another forty seconds to finally die.
All these seconds, no living being spoke anything and did anything more than just watch.
Reginald, Adarte, and Lina gulped at the same time.
Conrad turned to look at Reginald and then smiled.
"For a moment I thought you wanted to betray the team of ours."
Reginald smirked.
"Of course not..." he said as he took a step back, not because he was afraid but because it just seemed appropriate in the moment.
Conrad then nodded.
"We should take the heads of these people to complete the mission."
Reginald and Adarte nodded and started working, while Lina said to Adarte.
"Where is Anisa?"
Adarte nodded.
"I put her in a small hut, five hundred meters south from here; you cannot miss it."
Conrad nodded.
"Let's go."
"Finish what you do here and meet us at the hut, then we leave this area." Conrad said, and then, holding the hand of Lina, vanished.
While Conrad vanished with Lina, Reginald and Adarte looked at each other, and Reginald could not help but ask.
"Did you see him act like this?"
Adarte gulped and shook his head.
"No."
"I never saw him this serious and bloodthirsty in other fights that I have seen him fight or act in."
"This is the first time I felt like I was not talking to Conrad but a monster that is not from here."
Reginald let out a cold breath.
"I don't think he is a monster, but the feeling that he gave did make me think that he is not from here."
Adarte thought for a moment and then kept his mouth silent. All the things they had been through were too much, and he was too tired to think about Conrad and his character for the time being.
Conrad and Lina came to the hut Adarte was talking about and entered.
Conrad saw Anisa lying on the bed and then used Gyo to watch her.
When he used Gyo and inspected her body in detail, he nodded.
"I understand it," he said. Lina turned to look at him.
"She is not poisoned but cursed."
"We may need to send an exorcist to deal with this if she wants to be like in the past."
