Chapter 165 - Observer Of Matilda - Chapter 165

Eldras shook his head, and then Maven and Nelfin whispered at the same time.

At first, Eldras ordered Maven and Nelfin, but they followed for a moment and then stopped.

Instead of them, Eldras signaled them to stay with him.

While he sent Lilis and Laxon instead.

He believed, Maven and Nelfin would be more useful against this guy than following to enemies.

In the end, abilities of the twins, Maven and Nelfin worked if they are together.

"The Staff of Bone Twins."

The abilities of Maven and Nelfin as brother and daughter worked only when they wanted to activate them all together.

The Matilda Kingdom, as always, did not hesitate to hire and cultivate new users that worked without any morals whatsoever.

With their whisper, two staves manifested in their hands, a long one and a half-meter staff; each had their own staff.

They were conjurers.

Conrad Cane and Maven staff hit each other, and both blasted back, and Nelfin launched an attack from the left side.

Conrad jumped back, stepped on the ground, and then blocked the attack and then launched himself left to attack Maven, which he was blocked from.

"Those white bone-like staffs are conjured."

"It would be far-fetched, but it is most likely that they have some sort of enhanced capability..."

The Staff of Bone Twins needs a human leg bone and two of the twins to be in the same area to activate.

None of the twins are able to conjure the staff without the other not conjuring with them.

The human leg bone must belong to a freshly deceased corpse, and every month a new corpse and leg bones are needed to keep using the ability.

The twins were also able to formulate a calcium-like substance for the bones and make it even harder and much more powerful than usual.

A close-combat capability with an almost impossible staff weapon.

Simple, but it was pretty effective.

Conrad kept on clashing with the twins; with one eye he also kept on looking at Eldras.

Right now, he does not feel overwhelmed, but he will if this guy, who is the leader and most likely the powerful one as he can see from his nen, enters the battle.

Things may be more different.

At the very least, he would need to use other abilities to keep on fighting.

"Now."

"As long as I kill that guy who is able to tail me and find me where I go, I can go and escape if I want to."

Conrad thought, and then a strike hit his side belly, and he shot down to the tree behind him.

"Fuck!"

"I was distracted."

Conrad said he started feeling a little bit more sluggish.

"Am I getting tired?" Conrad thought, and then his eyes for a half second landed on Eldras, and then he blocked two more attacks from the twins.

"No."

"His power may have some sort of a link of conditions that involve observation."

"From the time battle started, he never moved or said anything."

"He kept on just looking at me without even blinking."

Eldras was not the best nen user when it came to close combat like the twins Maven and Nelfis.

His ability was called "Gaze of Evil – Observer of Matilda."

Eldras was a specialist, and his category was one of the big reasons why he was the leader in the first place.

The number of total NEN users in the whole Matilda Kingdom was about ten people. Now that three of them guarding the prince are killed, it was left with the seven.

The ability was similar to Benjamin Baton, the ability of the first prince of Kakin.

When royal guards under Eldras fight with an enemy, the ability can be activated.

Every time the ability is activated, a countdown starts within the mind of Eldras.

Each hour, the ability is active, and a debt is written within his mind and nen, the debt of life.

Each one-hour use of the ability adds a debt of one innocent life to him; after the ability ends, he has twenty-four hours to pay the debt; if not, the debt will be paid by the life of Eldras.

In return for such risks and harsh conditions, when Eldras observes royal guards fighting an enemy and he is about 200 meters away from the enemy, he is able to keep on weakening the target and make them more sluggish and distracted.

One of the limitations for just observing ability is also that Eldras can defend himself from the enemy; he uses the ability, but he cannot attack the enemy. Any counter-attack will increase the debt of life by a huge amount.

If he counter-attacks once, 1 minute of use of the ability will need one life; if he counter-attacks a second time, it will go down to ten seconds, and after the second time, each passing second will add one life debt, and there will be no fourth time, and the ability will be deactivated, and Eldras will need to pay the debt in one hour or pay it with his life.

Conrad already noticed that something is wrong.

More he was observed, more he was getting weaker and distracted.

"He is definitely using some sort of ability to keep me weaker."

"This is a good experience for me," he said.

Fighting against Nen users that are managed by another Nen user that is smart and capable is dangerous.

Not to mention when they share some sort of a bond with each other, an organizational or a family bond.

These bonds can be used for abilities and limitations to increase the power.

"Now."

"My target is that leader and the guy that's capable of tailing me."

"With my Blink, I can easily escape from these two."

"With that leader using the weakening ability on me, I have no real way to fight against these two in close combat."

"Now..."

"What to do, what to do..." Conrad thought and formed a plan within his mind.
