Nora's POV
The conversation with Lena had gone better than expected, and now I found myself drawn to James's office like a moth to flame. He sat behind his desk, hair still damp from his shower, fingers dancing across his laptop keyboard. The sight of him made my pulse quicken.
"I take it everything went well with your sister," James said without looking up.
I crossed the room slowly, enjoying the way his eyes tracked my movement. When I reached his desk, he pushed back his chair, creating space for me to settle onto his lap. The gray sweatpants he wore made my mouth go dry. There was something devastatingly attractive about seeing him so relaxed.
"Very well," I replied, wrapping my arms around his shoulders. "She's bringing Elodie to the book event tomorrow."
James smiled, his hand threading through my messy hair, brushing it aside to expose the sensitive skin of my neck. The simple touch sent electricity down my spine.
"They'll both enjoy that," he murmured.
