Chapter 169 - Chapter 171 The Blind Man

Reina looked at Finney, unwilling to accept this answer. She considered herself an excellent person; as a child, she had easily outmaneuvered adults on the streets, and now she moved effortlessly between various organizations, gathering intelligence for Carl.

But Finney suddenly told her that she wasn't actually excellent, and even had significant flaws. How could she accept this?

  "Who are you?"

Reina stared at Finney, unconcerned about Carl Johnson's presence, and asked in a deep voice, "Why should I believe you?"

"You're the one asking me for help, yet you expect me to prove it!?"

Finney glanced at Reina indifferently, ignoring her. Just as he had said before, whether she was willing or not was her own business. If she was willing, he would help her out casually; if not, she could do whatever she wanted.

Seeing Finney's displeasure, Reina felt a chill. Being adept at socializing, she knew some people shouldn't be easily provoked. Even without knowing Finney's identity, the fact that he was acquainted with Skye's father made her wary.

"Sorry, I got a little excited. To be honest, I still don't know how to address you,"

Reina quickly changed her attitude, no longer needing Finney to prove anything. She moved closer to him, her voice gentle, and asked Finney with a pitiful and aggrieved expression.

Seeing Reina's appearance, Finney hadn't even uttered a word when Skye inexplicably felt annoyed.

She couldn't help but feel a pang of pity for Reina, "Shouldn't you introduce yourself first?"

Seeing Skye's action, Reina was slightly taken aback, then smiled, completely unconcerned by her attitude, and said, "You can call me Reina. I'm an orphan. If it weren't for Dr. Carl's help when I was little, I might have starved to death. All these years, I've wanted to repay him and do things for him."

Hearing this, the kind-hearted Skye's eyes showed a hint of heartache. She hesitated for a moment, then introduced herself, "Skye , oh, but you can also call me Daisy."

Long-standing habits aren't easy to change, and Skye still preferred to introduce herself by her original name, but immediately added a sentence after a moment's hesitation.

  "Finney,"

Finney casually chimed in. He didn't particularly like Reena, but he wasn't exactly hostile either; she was simply pursuing power.

If it weren't for the system, he'd probably be on the path of pursuing various powers himself.

Hearing Finney's name, Reina was slightly taken aback. It wasn't that she'd heard of him, but rather that she was surprised by the relationship between Finney and Skye—they seemed to be siblings!

"Hello, Mr. Finney, could you perhaps give me some time to consider the awakening?"

Reina asked Finney. While she didn't want to accept Finney's explanation, she wasn't entirely distrustful.

After all, he might have already succeeded. Thinking of this, Reina couldn't help but steal a glance at Skye, curious about what ability she had awakened.

  "Take your time, no rush,"

Finney nodded. Anyway, Skye's mother hadn't been found yet, so even if Reina wanted to awaken now, he couldn't find the Terrigen Crystal to help her.

"Could I have your contact information?"

Reina quickly continued. Carl Johnson no longer needed her, and to seek refuge, she needed someone else. Although she didn't yet know Finney's identity or strength, her intuition told her that Finney was no ordinary person.

  "Give me mine!"

Skye suddenly interrupted Finney, who was about to speak. She didn't want Finney to have too much contact with Reina.

Seeing Skye's sudden stop, Reina was somewhat surprised. Then, seeing her expression, she seemed to understand something. She smiled, went to Skye's side, and said kindly, "Then I'll trouble Daisy."

She called Skye Daisy, partly to continue ingratiating herself with Carl Johnson, and partly because she could tell Skye didn't dislike the name.

Reina was indeed very skilled at understanding people and managing interpersonal relationships.

Watching the two women, Skye and Skye, chatting and laughing together, quickly move on, Finney turned to Carl Johnson and asked, "Is she the one you're using to investigate the obelisk?"

Carl Johnson hesitated for a moment, then nodded and whispered, "She's very intelligent and knows how to handle things, so I kept her around to help me investigate."

"How did you figure out she's an Inhuman?"

Finney was curious. Skye's mother was an Inhuman, so Carl's guess was understandable, but how did he figure out about Reina?

Carl Johnson glanced hesitantly at the two people not far away, then whispered to Finney, "I guessed!"

  "..."

Finney's eyes widened, staring blankly at Carl, speechless. She couldn't help but feel a pang of pity for Reina, knowing that the obelisk would turn an ordinary person to ash if they touched it.

"You've really harmed a lot of people!"

Finney sighed softly. Actually, Skye didn't know that the information she had seen was slightly edited. For example, to revive Jiaying, Carl Johnson had used the people of an entire village to restore her life force.

Hearing Finney's words, Carl Johnson's face showed guilt. He suddenly felt that his blood-stained hands were unworthy to touch his lovely, kind daughter.

"So, what are you planning to do next?"

Finney, not caring that Skye was being pestered by Reina, took the opportunity to ask Carl about his plans, such as whether he wanted to stay in this place any longer.

"I want to be with Daisy!"

Carl Johnson said without hesitation. Although he felt guilty about what he had done back then, he wouldn't give up on reuniting with his daughter.

Finney glanced at him but didn't speak. Perhaps this was why he couldn't locate the two of them with the 'compass'. He was worried that after Skye found her biological parents, she might separate from him and start a new life.

Their conversation ended on this topic, but Skye and Reina were chatting away.

"Daisy, what ability did you awaken?"

In just ten minutes, Reina had gained Skye's trust to a certain extent, so she took the opportunity to ask one of the questions she most wanted to know.

  "Hmm…"

Skye hesitated slightly, unsure whether she should tell Reina this question. She unconsciously turned to look at Finney, just in time to see him walking towards her.

"Finney, Lena wants to know about my ability,"

  Skye said to Finney.

"I'm just curious. It's okay if it's inconvenient to show you,"

Reina quickly explained. She didn't know enough about Finney. Although Skye had told her some things about Finney, it was all based on her own subjective interpretation and couldn't be used as a reference.

"It's fine. Let her see if you want."

Thinking of Carl Johnson's earlier comment about 'guessing,' Finney felt a bit sorry for Reina and said nonchalantly.

Reina's face lit up with surprise, and she looked at Skye with anticipation.

Skye hadn't prepared anything. She glanced around the room and saw the surgical instruments on the operating tray not far away. She held her palm up to them, and in less than three seconds, the instruments began to clang.

If you listened carefully, it was the melody of Symphony of Fate!

  "Amazing!"

Reina's eyes were filled with amazement and envy. She thought again about Finney's ability to foresee the future and wondered what it would be like to use it.

Just as Reina was about to ask Skye if her ability was to control metal, she suddenly saw Finney's expression change. A longsword appeared in her hand, and she was instantly enveloped in silver armor.

The next second, the air rippled, and a blind man appeared before them, startling the two women.

Finney, sensing the unusual spatial fluctuations and quickly equipping himself with 'Possessed by Evil Spirits,' was somewhat surprised to see him. She hadn't expected such a coincidence; everyone had suddenly appeared at once.!
