Chapter 167 - Chapter 169 Reunion

Seeing the way Finney disappeared, Carl Johnson was slightly startled, but he was even more excited by what Finney had said—he could see his daughter tomorrow.

"Pack...yes, I need to pack properly."

Looking at the messy surroundings, Carl Johnson realized what was happening, muttering to himself, his large hands trembling with excitement.

Meanwhile, Finney, after returning home, told him about her father.

  "Did you really find him?"

Hearing Finney's words, Skye was equally excited. After waiting so long, she was finally going to see her biological father, which made her both excited and a little apprehensive.

"Finney, do you think he'll like me?"

Skye nervously scratched her hair, asking with a worried expression.

"Don't worry, he's practically going crazy thinking about you. He wouldn't care if you were a little ugly." Finney rolled her eyes, answering nonchalantly.

This was clearly not a correct answer. Skye glared angrily at Finney, turned around, and went back to her room to start packing, preparing for their meeting tomorrow.

The night passed quietly, and early the next morning, Skye and Finney, who had been on edge all night, arrived at Carl Johnson's clinic.

  "Does he live here?"

Looking at the dilapidated house and the malicious glances from the thugs they'd encountered on their way there, Skye felt a pang of sadness and guilt.

  "Alright, let's go in,"

Finney said, knocking on the door.

"Get out of the way! I'm not seeing patients today!"

Carl Johnson's irritable voice came from inside, mistaking Finney for one of the thugs and thieves who had come seeking medical help.

  "It's me!"

Finney shouted back, speechless. Immediately, there was a clattering sound from inside, and a moment later, the clinic door opened.

Carl Johnson, dressed in a white suit, his hair and face neatly groomed, stood before Finney and Skye, a nervous smile on his face.

The moment he saw Skye, a mix of emotions flashed in his eyes: surprise, joy, nervousness, and a touch of bewilderment.

"Why are you here so early? Come in, come in,"

Carl Johnson said hastily, not daring to acknowledge Skye directly, and hurriedly invited Finney and Skye into the house.

Compared to yesterday, the house was much tidier, but the basic conditions were still there, and it wasn't something that could be completely changed in a day. Fortunately, neither Skye nor Finney seemed to mind.

From the moment Carl Johnson appeared, Skye's gaze never left him. This was the biological father she had been searching for for so many years. Upon finally meeting him, she suddenly didn't know what to say.

"What would you like to drink? Tea or coffee? I bought a lot of drinks; if you don't like any, I'll go buy some more!"

Carl Johnson asked nervously, rubbing his hands together. His gaze kept trying to look at Skye, but when he noticed her staring at him, he looked away.

  "No need."

Seeing the awkward and evasive Carl Johnson, Finney decided to help him. Turning to Skye, she said, "Carl Johnson, he is your father."

Hearing Finney's words, Carl Johnson stiffened instantly, finally looking Skye directly in the eye, a self-perceived friendly smile on his face, his large hands nervously placed beside his legs as he stood ramrod straight.

"You…how have you been these past years?"

Skye realized she wasn't as prepared as she thought; for example, she couldn't even bring herself to call him "Dad.

  " "I'm fine!"

Carl Johnson spoke nervously, then looked at Skye and asked, "And you? You've suffered a lot these past few years, haven't you?"

Finney rolled her eyes. At home, Skye had endured almost every hardship imaginable; if it weren't for her ability to vibrate, she'd probably have gained at least twenty pounds.

"No, they've been very good to me!"

Skye shook her head. This was the truth; she had indeed been very happy at Finney's house. If it weren't for her deep-seated obsession, she wouldn't have needed to search for her biological parents.

Although Finney had mentioned it yesterday, seeing Skye admit it herself made Carl Johnson truly believe her, and a pang of sorrow gripped his heart.

Carl Johnson pulled himself out of his thoughts and asked, "By the way, I heard him say that your name is now Skye?"

"Yes, that's what I named myself."

Skye looked embarrassed. When she first went to Finney's house, she hadn't considered staying, so she didn't want to be given a name and insisted they call her Skye.

Later, after their relationship improved and she decided to stay, she got used to it and didn't bother to change it, so it continued until now.

"Actually, your mother and I gave you a very nice name."

Carl Johnson looked at Skye nervously. Although he was incredibly tough and easily angered in front of Finney, he was very cautious in front of Skye, not daring to raise his voice for fear of frightening her.

  "Really? What is it?"

Skye asked happily. She didn't have any particular attachment to her current name; in fact, she wished she could have the name given to her by her parents, like everyone else.

As she spoke, Skye unconsciously took Carl Johnson's arm, making him even stiffer, while feeling an unprecedented joy and happiness in his heart.

Finney watched the two talking, not wanting to disturb them, and walked a short distance away, leaving them some space.

As they talked, Carl Johnson gradually relaxed, a genuine smile on his face, and began to tell Skye everything about her, as well as the interesting things that happened before the disaster.

They talked for the entire morning.

After so much conversation, the two finally felt comfortable with each other, like a real father and daughter.

  "Finney, thank you."

Skye led Carl Johnson to Phineas and thanked him sincerely.

Carl Johnson, standing beside her, glanced at Finney, nodded awkwardly, and said thank you as well. Eighty percent of Skye's story had been about Finney, which made him unconsciously hostile towards her.

"I wonder when we can find Mom, so our family can truly be reunited!"

Skye said expectantly. Meeting Carl Johnson made her even more eager to see her mother. She never thought that the dream of a family reunion could actually come true.

Hearing this, Carl Johnson was also filled with anticipation. He longed for a family reunion even more than Skye. However, when he saw Finney's gaze, he suddenly remembered their conversation from yesterday.

Turning to look at Skye's happy and expectant face, he resolved to do everything he could to bring Jiaying back to normal.

Just as Skye and Carl Johnson were happily discussing where to eat next, there was a sudden knock on the clinic door.

Just as Carl Johnson was about to unleash a furious roar, he suddenly remembered Skye was still beside him, quickly suppressing his anger and saying in a normal voice, "I'm sorry, the clinic is closed today. Please go see a doctor elsewhere!"

  "Dr. Carl, it's me!"

A female voice rang out from outside the door, and then she simply pushed the door open and walked in.

Seeing Finney and Skye, the newcomer was slightly surprised, but when she saw Carl Johnson in a suit, dressed as if going on a date, she was immediately taken aback.

   Sigh~
