Chapter 4 - FEAR AND DEATH

Fear and Death –

Yuri's POV

It seemed today was going to be another bad day. Why? Because I had that dream again—the one that drags up the past I tried to forget.

If you're reading this record, I am Yuri, daughter of the Primordial Sovereign Dragon King, the Sky Father. His real name… I'd rather not say. Anyway, I shall now tell the forgotten tale of the day heaven—and its ruler—fell.

It started as a normal day. The twelve of us, the Zodiac Dragon Sovereigns, strongest existences in the entire floating kingdom of Elysia, stood gathered in the throne room. Elysia itself rested in an isolated spacetime, a secluded domain of heaven and earth, and we were its guardians and administrators of its will in the outside world.

My father sat in his human form atop a throne woven from purest white light and drifting stars. Even seated he looked imposing, easily over six feet tall. His hair hung past his back, a shimmering cascade made from countless threads of starlight that shifted colors in a spectrum like gentle waves.

His left eye resembled the endless night sky—stars flickering, galaxies twisting within a deep cosmic void. His right eye was closed, because when he opened it, the light of the first primal star poured out, too perfect and overwhelming for even us to meet directly.

His alabaster skin radiated calm strength. Intricate golden circuits glowed faintly beneath it, carrying divine essence like golden blood. Above his head hovered a golden crown with 9 coloured precious stones engreved into it and twelve edges, and at each point a small white star floated.

This was the Primordial Dragon Sovereign king—the most perfect being

So when he said,

"Today, I will die,"

the world seemed to tilt.

It was fundamentally absurd. In his true dragon form he had twelve wings, each carrying a sealed divine authority. Nine halos marked him as a being of pure light, each governing a heaven. His power could erase worlds; his authorities could create them. His body, when unveiled, stretched the size of an entire solar system. Even time and space bent under his will. Elysia itself was born from the shell of his egg.

There was no being in the universe that should have been capable of killing him.

Before any of us could speak, a vile, overwhelming presence crashed onto the realm. It washed over Elysia like a tide of poison. Instantly, we moved to intercept—everyone except me. My father's authority over space locked around me, pinning me in place.

I turned toward him, confused, but he spoke before I could ask.

"Yuri, every enemy you have fought in here were either traitors or cosmic horrors I allowed in to train you. But today… I did not let this one in."

He exhaled slowly, as if each breath carried weight.

"I couldn't stop it. That is why. Every single one of your peers will die here today. Even reincarnation will not be possible for them."

A tear slid from his closed right eye.

"Please… let me save at least my daughter."

I should have noticed something was wrong already. If he truly wanted me out, he could've just teleported me away. He didn't—because this intruder was overriding his dominion over the domain.

Before I could speak, three quiet knocks echoed on the throne room doors.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

The silence afterward was suffocating.

I immediately sensed the enemy. I took my stance, reached for the katana at my side, awakened every rune inside me, and bent my will into the ether. In the same instant I drew my blade, slashing against the very fabric of reality itself, forcing space to split apart—

—or at least i tried to.

Something pressed the blade back into its scabbard.

A split-second later:

BOOM

The doors shattered. The sound reached us after the fact, as if reality lagged behind the destruction.

The presence that poured in was abyssal and maddening in nature. Space distorted slowly around it. A dark amethyst mist crept into the room, carrying a miasmic aura. Something unfathomable —#●■○**##■●□—slid into my mind, slowly turning me insane, stripping me of my sanity .

And then i realised that i was paralysed.

Not from a spell. Not coerced. But

Pure instinctive FEAR pinned me in place—the kind that freezes all equally.

Then He appeared before me.

A towering man, lean and unnervingly composed. His alabaster skin looked like porcelain, pale and cold like a doll. Two long black horns rose from his head, parting the bangs of his hair.

His hair flowed down his back like the void of space itself—black, endless, dotted with countless twinkling stars. His pupils were pitch black, but inside each eye sat several dark irises, like many eyes watching from one.

Black, misty circuit markings glowed faintly along his neck, creeping upward but never reaching the face. His mantle was obsidian, engraved with amethyst runes that pulsed gently with ether and corrupted mana.

He had stopped my blade by casually stepping on its hilt—striking a pose like he had all the time in the world.

My blood reacted violently, as if recognizing him.

He tilted his head and smiled faintly.

"Didn't think I'd live to see you all grown up like this, lil sis."

My breath stopped.

This entity—this nightmare—was my brother. A brother I never knew existed.

He lifted his gaze to my father. The air instantly turned sharp, as if the ether itself had been honed into blades aimed at him.

"Long time no see, old man," he said with a quiet, melancholic grin.

"How does it feel? Seeing the son you abandoned after your little affair with the night mother? Even though you knew the consequences."

Father had… an affair? The thought barely formed.

"You can't deny it," the intruder went on, voice slipping into mockery. "Your pathetic drop in power is proof enough. The great Primordial Sovereign Dragon King falls for the deception of the night mother, conceives a child he shouldn't have, then abandons them both. All while knowing having a child would drain your authority and your life."

His expression flattened.

"Well, whatever. I'm here to take my crown."

My mind was already cracking under everything happening. I couldn't process any of it.

Father spoke softly, defeated.

"At least let my daughter go. She has no part in this, Rai—"

"Ah, ah."

The intruder raised a finger.

"Don't call me that name. Use my honorific true name—The Mad Prince."

The Mad Prince sighed lightly.

"And as for my little sister Yuri… I'm not so cruel as to kill her."

My heart dropped when he smiled and revealed what he'd been holding.

The twelve horns of the Zodiacs.

Broken.

Bloodied.

Dead.

He dropped them to the floor like trash.

"But deicide?" His smile sharpened. "That sounds a lot more fun."

Before I could react, space around me twisted. I was flung far, suddenly outside the palace.

Elysia was ruined.

Buildings crushed. The sky torn apart. The kingdom's luminous bridges broken and drifting. I ran for the exit portal without looking back.

But I slipped.

Above me hung three of my fellow Zodiacs corpses in their colossal true dragon forms, each impaled through the chest by massive dark crystalline spikes. When I looked down, I stumbled over the human-form corpse of another—and next my best friend's severed head rolled to my feet and stared up at me with empty eyes.

My Tears blurred everything. I ran harder and faster than i ever could.

Thunderous booms shook the heavens behind me. The clash between my father and the Mad Prince tore against the very fabric of reality. I didn't dare look back until the portal swallowed me.

I shifted into my etheric form and stepped through.

But as the particles of my body shot through space, I turned back once.

And saw it.

My father's true dragon body drifting in the void of space.

Tattered and battered.

4 Wings severed, 3 half-sewn, 3 corrupted by abyssal powers, and the last 2 chopped off with clean slashes.

All except 2 of his Halos were shattered into cosmic dust.

Scales cracked open with his golden blood sipping through.

A leg cut off.

Horns split cleanly in half.

A monstrous amethyst-and-obsidian crystalline spear made of ether and corrupted mana impaled straight through his chest.

The Primordial Sovereign Dragon King.

The Sky Father.

The most perfect creature.

Is DEAD
