Realignment didn't begin with agreement.

It began with honesty.

The system had settled.

That much was clear.

But systems weren't the only things that needed alignment after pressure receded. People carried residue. Habits formed under stress didn't disappear simply because the danger passed.

They waited.

To see if calm would hold.

I felt it the morning after the aftershock finally faded.

Not in urgency.

In choice.

I chose to stay in bed a few minutes longer. Chose not to reach for my phone immediately. Chose to breathe without counting the seconds between alerts.

"That's new," Adrian said softly beside me.

"Yes," I replied. "I'm not bracing anymore."

Bracing had been instinct.

A reflex built from anticipation.

It took effort to unlearn.

At work, the same shift unfolded.

Not dramatic.

Incremental.

I stopped scanning rooms for resistance. Stopped mapping conversations before they happened. When people spoke, I listened without calculating consequence.
