Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 17

Aria POV

The day moved just like before. Everything going on without my willingness, its like stand in kne place and watching moving everything like someone playing a video in front of your eye's, you felt you're not part of this video or life...

Today was Rajveer's wedding ceremony.

I wore a simple white dress—not fancy. I looked normal.

No matter what I wear, it doesn't change my body or skin color.

I remain the same.

Even if I apply makeup, it doesn't change anything.

Now, I don't even feel like putting makeup on my face.

"Aria... Aria, come take pictures of us," Sarah ordered me.

I took her iPhone and started clicking pictures of her with her boyfriend.

She held his arm and smiled in front of the camera. I took their photos.

She grabbed the phone and said, "Thanks! Let's go to the menu section."

She spoke to her boyfriend, who barely paid attention to her.

He was continuously staring at another girl—the one who gave him a wide smile.

She dragged him toward the food counter. I was standing there alone, holding a gift. The groom hadn't arrived yet. There was a big crowd—everyone seemed rich and important.

I pulled a chair and sat down, trying to calm my anxiety and discomfort.

"Excuse me," a voice came from behind.

I turned back. A man was holding a white bouquet.

"Can you please hold this for a minute? I need to tie my shoelace," he asked politely.

I took it from him. As he bent down to tie his shoe, I looked at the bouquet—it was beautiful.

White roses, fresh and elegant, with a small note: Congratulations.

It looked perfect.

For a second, I imagined—if I ever got married, would my guests also bring blessings, wishes, and gifts like this?

But that was only in my imagination. Something that could never come true.

He stood up — his sharp features and tall height caught my eye. It felt like I knew him, or maybe we had met before. I couldn't remember when or where, but he gave me that kind of familiar vibe.

I handed his bouquet back to him. He kept looking at me. I avoided eye contact. I really don't like these kinds of places — crowded parties or wedding ceremonies.

My breath caught in my throat as the groom entered. They looked perfect together — the bride in her white dress, and the groom in his black coat. He looked excited and genuinely happy.

A married couple now…

Just a few months ago, he was single.

I used to think about him…

But now, he's married — a married man.

Everything alright?" the man beside me asked, trying to start a conversation.

I looked away toward the other side—not directly at him. "Hmm," I muttered, and just nodded, as I always do. I didn't have many words floating in my mind, and forming sentences—talking, chatting—felt difficult for me.

I went on stage where the newly married couple was sitting quietly. I handed them a gift.

Behind me was a line of girls—all employees.

When I gave them the gift, the bride took it. I was actually giving it to Rajveer, but… never mind.

I had completed the most difficult task.

Now, everyone was asking me about my partner, about my personal life... whether I'm dating someone or still single.

How could I tell them all that I'm alone?

And now, my expectations are gone.

I don't expect anything anymore…!

""Aria… did you eat dinner?" the manager asked me.

She's brilliant. She became a manager purely through her hard work, and I truly respect her.

I didn't know she remembered my name so well… even my face.

The first and last time we met was four years ago—during my interview.

She liked my answers back then and believed that one day I would outshine everyone here.

But her prediction turned out to be wrong.

"Not yet, ma'am," I said, bowing slightly in front of her.

She gently held my hand. "Come with me," she said softly.

Like an elder sister, she led me to the food counter.

"Sit here," she instructed kindly.

I sat down.

Everyone around was looking at me suspiciously.

They were probably wondering—Why is the manager sitting and eating with her?

Very few people like her would ever do this.

After all, I'm just a simple, ordinary employee… nothing special, nothing in a high post.

"Them? Who do you mean?" I asked again, still trying to process everything.

"Them… your team," she replied with a smile.

"They'll be working under you now."
