Viserys paused, remembering that Clinton might have sent a raven to them, saying the Prince of Dorne had invited him to visit Dorne.
Ashara raised an eyebrow, her expression identical to Nymeria's. "Seems it's been arranged."
Viserys felt a bit awkward; he wouldn't have said that if he had known, but he didn't explain. Ashara looked at Viserys's expression and suddenly smiled.
"Forget it, I can't control you anyway," she said, her tone intentionally light. "Just don't forget me or despise me when I'm old and my beauty fades in the future."
"How could that be? I won't forget."
"That's good."
She looked up, gave Viserys a light kiss on the lips, and then rolled out of bed.
"Hurry up, it's time to get up," she said. "Dany is still waiting for us for dinner, and Rhaenys should be back soon..."
Just as she spoke, a Dragon Roar came from outside. Viserys walked to the window and saw a deep red figure approaching rapidly in the distant sky. Black Flame basically doesn't come to the castle now; it usually goes straight back to the volcano or the dragon pit next to it.
Melyas's scales shimmered with a metallic luster in the sunset, her wingspan about fifteen meters wide. On the dragon's back sat a slender girl in black and red riding gear.
Moments later, Melyas landed on the terrace. Rhaenys knew Viserys was back when she saw Ghidorah lying on the terrace. She jumped off the dragon and ran toward the castle. Though her hair was a bit messy, her face bore an excited smile.
When she ran into the dining room and saw Viserys, the smile on her face instantly grew brighter.
"Brother." She ran over, stopping in front of him, panting slightly. "You're back."
Viserys reached out and brushed a bit of dust from her cheek. "It's been hard on you. Why are you back so late?"
Saying this, Viserys reached out and pulled her into his arms, his arm tightly around her waist. Although Rhaenys was a bit shy at first, she soon immersed herself in the joy of Viserys's return.
Rhaenys shook her head and looked up at Viserys, her purple eyes sparkling with excitement. "It wasn't hard at all. Today Black Flame led us to find a Fire Lizards nest with over a dozen inside. Melyas ate two and is very energetic now. We even caught several, enough to feed her for days."
Viserys chuckled. "You went that far just for that?"
"Of course not," Rhaenys said. "I just wanted to practice flying more with Melyas to deepen our bond, so I can accompany you if there's a chance in the future."
After they talked for a while, the servants brought out the prepared food.
Tonight's feast ended simply because they were worried Viserys might be tired from the long flight after just returning. Almost all the talk at dinner was about Rhaenys and Black Flame's hunt today.
Of course, the women staying in Valyria also attended; after all, seeing Viserys back, they each had their own thoughts. Unfortunately, Daenerys and Rhaenys stayed by his side the whole time, so they found no chance to chat with him.
Especially Arya; she really wanted to know about the North and Winterfell, but seeing Daenerys happily clinging to Viserys, she didn't want to disturb them.
After spending these days with Daenerys, she knew Daenerys worried about and missed Viserys very much, just as she now worried about her family.
After the dinner ended, the sky had turned completely dark. Everyone went back to wash up.
Daenerys was the first to finish washing. She ran to Viserys's room in her nightgown and crawled directly into his bed, hugging his arm like she did when she was a child.
"Brother, I'm sleeping with you tonight," she said, her little face looking quite righteous.
Viserys looked at her expression and could only smile helplessly, letting her be.
After a while, Rhaenys came too. She wore a pale purple nightgown, her hair washed and dried, draped over her shoulders. She stood at the door, hesitating.
She was already fifteen, no longer the little girl who could crawl into Viserys's bed at will. But she really wanted to spend more time with her brother and hear about his experiences these past days.
So she made excuses for herself, saying she just wanted to hear stories of Viserys's trip and wouldn't do anything else, and since she was Viserys's future wife, sleeping together was normal.
When she finally stepped inside, she found a protruding figure already beside Viserys.
"Dany is here too?" she asked.
"Hmm?" Daenerys poked her head out from under the covers and looked toward the door. "Rhaenys, you come too. We haven't slept together in a long time."
Viserys moved inward to make room for her, lifted the covers, and patted the spot for her to come up.
Rhaenys's face flushed slightly, but she walked over and lay down on the other side of Viserys. However, she stayed a bit far from him, her body stiff, her eyes staring straight at the ceiling.
Then Daenerys, lying on the other side, became restless. She pulled Viserys's hand and looked at him expectantly. "Brother, you haven't told us about your trip to the Wall yet. I heard Sister Ashara say while I was bathing that you saw the Others and even killed several?"
Viserys glanced at her. "You're quite well-informed."
"Of course," Daenerys tilted her chin up proudly. "I am Daenerys Targaryen."
Rhaenys spoke from the side, "Brother just got back, can't you let him rest properly?"
Daenerys leaned on Viserys and looked at her. "Didn't you say you wanted to know too when you were bathing just now?"
Caught out, Rhaenys's face turned slightly red, and she snorted, falling silent.
"Brother, hurry and tell us," Daenerys urged, lying on her side, her purple eyes sparkling as she looked at Viserys.
Viserys thought for a moment and started from when he left Valyria. He talked about flying over the Narrow Sea, the sights seen above Winterfell, the Night's Watch at Castle Black, and the duel with Benjen.
"Brother, is this Benjen Arya's uncle? Did you win?" Daenerys asked.
"Yes, that's him. Of course, I won."
"Yay, I knew it," Daenerys said proudly. "Brother is the best."
Rhaenys nodded in agreement beside her.
Viserys continued. He spoke of meeting Maester Aemon, the old man's stories of the Targaryen family's past, and the relatives who had passed away. Rhaenys and Daenerys both grew quiet, listening silently, their moods inevitably turning heavy.
