Chapter 228 - Chapter 229 – I am Solomon! One of the Seven Grand Servants who stand at the pinnacle of all Heroic Spirits!

Seventh Singularity: Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia

"Hahahahahahaha!"

The laughter of Wise King Gilgamesh rolled on; he was doubled over, and beside him Merlin wore the same mysterious smile, as if they'd heard the best joke in the world.

Watching the two of them, Siduri maintained her gentle smile, for once at a complete loss for words.

"I can't—this king is going to die laughing."

Wise King Gilgamesh recalled what Lev had just said and burst into laughter, as if he couldn't help being tickled.

"That Lev actually said something like that?"

Although Merlin often used Clairvoyance to check on Chaldea and was ready to help the moment they faced unimaginable hardship,

he truly hadn't expected the being named Lev to utter those words.

To anyone else, those words might have drawn grave frowns and frantic speculation about what sort of "king" he meant.

After all, this was no trifle—the king he spoke of was a terror who had overturned all human history.

By Lev's own assessment he was merely a subordinate; far more dreadful beings stood above him.

Yet to Wise King Gilgamesh and Merlin, the line was downright hilarious—yes, explosively funny.

"I can't—this king is dying of laughter! If that Lev ever learned Romani Archaman's identity, what face would he make? Bwahahahahaha!!!"

"No, Siduri, this king thinks he's actually glimpsing the underworld—hahahaha!"

Wise King Gilgamesh roared with mirth; perhaps never before had he laughed so unrestrainedly. The mere scene in his mind made it impossible to stop.

Whether it was Lev's reaction upon discovering Romani Archaman's true self,

or the later moment when Romani Archaman learned Lev's 'real identity',

both promised supreme comedy. Thus the king laughed without restraint, until he almost saw a golden-haired beauty waving at him with a smile.

He drew a sharp breath—he mustn't fall here—and for the moment stifled his delight.

"..." Siduri kept her gentle smile, momentarily at a loss for words.

"However..."

Chin propped on his hand, the king watched the multi-anime projection screen. "Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash—quite remarkable. What they're experiencing is swiftly maturing the once-green youths."

On-screen, Fujimaru and Mash's adventures in the Singularity flashed by; though much was fast-forwarded, choice clips showed their growth.

And ever-present, Doctor Roman backed them from within Chaldea, feeding them intel and providing live commentary.

"Mm, their journey will reach its end," Merlin murmured, gaze soft as he watched Fujimaru, Mash, and the doctor behind the scenes. "So I'd love to see their faces once they learn who Romani Archaman really is."

"After all... confronting that fellow will require the grand order itself."

Merlin's words carried a hidden meaning, and Wise King Gilgamesh nodded in agreement.

One-Punch Man World.

"Just as I thought," Genos said, eyes fixed on the footage. "That Lev has clearly been replaced."

"Same skin, utterly different aura. The Lev in the memories looked decent, but the current one's been... possessed."

Genos sounded pleased—his deduction had hit the mark.

"Still, more than that, I think this so-called king deserves our attention."

Tornado watched Mash and Fujimaru on-screen, voice calm. "That whatever-king is the real mastermind, probably the final boss."

The intel Lev let slip was plenty: he was only one piece, a pawn tossed into that era.

The whole world had lost its king's favor—hence its ruin.

From that alone it was clear Lev worshipped the king; Tornado didn't quite get why,

but it showed Lev was small fry. The true villain was that king.

Just as Riku and Shuvi had to seize the star cup to end the war, Fujimaru and Mash must defeat that king to save human history.

"From what we know, yes. Yet since that incident, Doctor Roman has acted perfectly normal."

Genos studied the doctor on-screen: no odd behavior, just steady support for Fujimaru and Mash.

Perfectly in line with a mere physician—at most offering intel from within Chaldea.

But the scene at the video's start still nagged at him.

And in the founding director Marisbury's dream, the man behind him—was that Doctor Roman?

If so, how could a mere doctor participate in a Holy Grail War between Servants?

Or had he served only as an information officer even then?

These questions made Genos eager for what came next—and puzzled over how Roman could stay so "normal."

In Genos's mind, the doctor should stand out far more.

"Maybe that's just how he is," Saitama muttered, noticing Genos's frown. "He's hiding something, sure, but that's probably his real self. When the time comes, he'll drop the bombshell."

Saitama was getting interested. Earlier videos had twists, but most were guessable.

This one was different—titled "Meteor Shower of the Utmost Heavens."

What did that even mean? A sky full of shooting stars?

The opening focused on Doctor Roman, then shifted to Mash and Fujimaru.

The doctor himself became a side character, popping up only for quips or history lessons.

Yet anyone who'd seen the opening knew he was no simple man.

So, as the story unfolded, they waited eagerly to see what game-changing card the doctor held

and whether he'd play it to aid Mash and Fujimaru.

"Probably just like you think, sensei," Genos nodded; he never contradicted Saitama.

Genos knew that every time his teacher spoke, the words carried a meaning only Saitama himself could grasp.

It was never something Genos could decipher so easily, so he recorded every utterance and pored over them in private.

Watching the master and disciple, Tornado shook her head as though they were beyond salvation.

Who says the mastermind has to be some so-called king? Uchiha Madara was thought to be the final boss, wasn't he?

Then Ōtsutsuki Kaguya popped out of nowhere; the real string-puller might not be any 'king' at all.

The video rolled on.

By now Fujimaru had cleared Singularities One and Two; at this moment the foe of Singularity Three had just been defeated.

It had been Flauros, one of the seventy-two demon gods, and the girl-princess Medea.

After their loss, Fujimaru demanded to know who was truly in charge, but Princess Medea could only say her freedom to answer had been stolen.

She had lost, Magus to Magus, to that hidden enemy.

Dr. Roman was stunned—not a Servant, but the Magus Princess Medea herself had been beaten?

Perhaps because the fight was already over, she warned Chaldea that as magi they could never equal 'that person'.

So go gather the stars, she told them—those glittering stars.

Stars that outshine both mankind and bestiality, that never vanish in tempests, that illuminate the heavens.

With those words Princess Medea departed.

After her exit the Singularity mended; the others began to leave, the Servants fading one by one.

'Well then, time to say goodbye.' David smiled at Fujimaru and Mash. 'You two will have it rough, but hang in there and do your best.'

'Two people squabble, a hundred compete, a thousand clash—true in every age. Just fight your own battles.'

He turned to go, but Mash quickly called, 'Wait! You know about the seventy-two Demon God Pillars, don't you?'

'Are… are those things truly demons? The doctor insists they can't exist.'

David raised an eyebrow at the puzzled girl. 'Oh? He said that? Then why ask me?'

'…' Mash stared, respectful yet exasperated. 'You're King David of Israel—of course you'd know.'

'You're the father of the legendary King Solomon who summoned the seventy-two Demon God Pillars.'

'Fou-fou~~~'

Fou chimed in, as if seconding her point.

'Ugh…'

David looked troubled, sighing. 'Solomon is indeed my son, but summoning isn't my department.'

Roman muttered, 'Some help you are.'

The ever-gentle King now turned sharp. 'Harsh words—so what's your proof those things aren't demons? You're the one who denied it.'

'W-well…' Roman faltered. 'It's just… the impression is off, or rather…'

'Hahaha~' Da Vinci cut in, amused. 'Roman's a huge Solomon fan—has worshipped him forever!'

'Hey!!!' Roman squeaked, half-embarrassed, half-shouting. 'Leo! That was confidential!'

Da Vinci kept laughing. 'So you can't accept that demon because "my beloved Solomon would never have such awful taste"?'

Roman's face twisted; he gave up hiding it. 'Exactly! The seventy-two Demon God Pillars are the origin and pinnacle of summoning!'

'How could they be those hideous monsters? We're talking about King Solomon! The one with ten all-powerful rings, builder of Jerusalem's temple, who made Israel prosper!'

'Why would such a man command those things—let alone try to wipe out humanity?!'

Cornered as a fanboy, Roman's voice cracked with fervor.

He was adamant: those ugly creatures could not be the true Demon God Pillars, and Solomon could never be the mastermind!

Da Vinci turned back to David. 'So, Dad, what do you think? Is Solomon connected to that demon or not?'

'Hmm.'

David answered solemnly, 'Solomon would absolutely do something like this—he's basically a cruel, twisted good-for-nothing.'

'!!!!!'

The verdict shattered Roman on the spot. 'How could you! I can't trust anyone anymore!'

'Hahaha~ sorry, sorry.' David chuckled warmly and apologized.

'Solomon and I weren't close; raising kids bored me.'

'Still, the fool was honest—he'd never try to erase human history unless all ten of his secret lovers betrayed him at once.'

Mash and Fujimaru gaped. What?! Had they just stumbled on some terrifying royal gossip?

King Solomon had ten clandestine mistresses?!

Mash blurted, 'You just made him sound even worse!'

Roman wailed, 'Just how awful is Solomon's image now?!'

David smiled. 'I'll take my leave. Call me if you need me.'

With that he vanished.

Roman sighed, drained. 'Still no solid intel on the Demon Pillars… but a link to Solomon is looking undeniable.'

'Doctor?' Mash caught the odd note in his voice.

Roman quickly thanked Francis Drake; without her, Chaldea would have wandered far longer.

Drake brushed it off and asked if, once history was corrected, she would still remember them.

The answer was no.

So she told Mash she had found her own wish—and perhaps one day they would understand what that was.

She understood why she had swung her shield to the very end.

Finally, after a brief exchange, the Chaldea group left that era, and Francis Drake also set off on a journey of her own.

Outside the video.

Type-Moon/Fate World, Sixth Singularity, Sacred Round Table Domain.

"It really makes one sigh; I wonder how Captain Drake is doing."

Fujimaru Ritsuka watched her past self with Mash and felt deeply moved; every Singularity they had experienced was a precious memory for the two of them.

"If it's Captain Drake, she's probably living life to the fullest."

Mash also smiled; to her, Captain Drake had been a kind of guide, showing her which direction to head in and helping her discover her own path.

Even now, Mash still didn't fully grasp what Captain Drake had meant, but she kept those words close to her heart, certain that one day she would understand.

"..."

Da Vinci said nothing, rubbing her chin as she recalled the conversation between David and Dr. Roman in the video; a strange gleam flashed in her eyes.

Unlike Mash and Fujimaru, who were reminiscing about Captain Drake, Da Vinci remembered this scene all too clearly.

Put simply, it was the first time she had ever seen Romani so 'flustered.'

Although the video hadn't shown her side of the room, Da Vinci had been there—standing right next to Romani Archaman.

She knew exactly how colorful his expression had been, like a painter's palette.

The kind of sight that could make someone burst out laughing; at the time she'd been too busy smoothing things over to think about anything else.

But now, considering Romani's unusual attitude toward the Demon Gods, his jabs at King David, and… his depth of knowledge about King Solomon.

'A fan of King Solomon?' Da Vinci mused, a playful smile tugging at her lips as if she'd stumbled upon something fascinating.

She kept quiet, though; Mash and Fujimaru hadn't caught on yet, and she wasn't about to spoil the surprise.

Anyway, it was only a little theory of hers; once she had proof, there would be plenty of time to tell them.

Without realizing it, Da Vinci had once again latched onto a crucial piece of information.

Meanwhile, Fujimaru and Mash, none the wiser, were chatting about their experiences in the Third Singularity.

What stuck in Mash's mind most was that, as the Servants departed, the goddess Eurayle had given Fujimaru a kiss.

The memory had left a deep impression on her.

Fujimaru, however, brushed it off—just a little 'peck' between girls, nothing to fuss over!

Detective Conan World.

"King Solomon and King David?"

Kudo Shinichi had finally pulled himself together after Shuvi and Riku's deaths. Reviewing the scenes, he spotted several oddities.

When Dr. Roman and King David spoke, two normally gentle personalities had somehow turned 'confrontational.'

Not truly combative, yet their conversation gave Shinichi a peculiar feeling.

Like a father and son bickering: the son insists something is impossible, the father insists it's possible!

Shinichi knew the dynamic well; his own father had lectured him countless times as a kid.

Back then, he'd been just a boy in Hawaii, picking up all sorts of skills from his dad.

What stuck in his memory was how those spats had mirrored the exchange between Dr. Roman and King David.

"Why does it feel so familiar?" he wondered, but didn't dwell on it; the real culprit mattered more.

The mastermind was probably not the real King Solomon, but rather a 'fake Solomon.'

David had even joked that, although his son had quirks, wiping out human history wasn't his style.

Unless all ten of his secret lovers betrayed him at once, he wouldn't even consider it.

Perhaps these Demon God Pillars weren't genuine, but counterfeit.

A mighty being, idolizing Solomon, had fantasized that he was the true King, and over time convinced himself of it. He created the seventy-two demon gods and devised a plan to annihilate human history.

That was the most plausible theory given the current information.

Shinichi had other hypotheses—maybe everything was a bluff, Solomon and the seventy-two demon gods mere red herrings.

The real culprit could be someone else entirely, yet that seemed unnecessary.

Anyone capable of erasing human history ought to be terrifyingly powerful; why hide their identity?

Chin in hand, eyes bright with intellect, Shinichi watched Fujimaru and Mash head for the Fourth Singularity. "Let's see whether my deduction is right or wrong!"

His spirits fully restored, he shook off his earlier gloom.

Unless another tragedy on the level of Shuvi and Riku struck, nothing would faze him!

"Still, this plot keeps getting better." Reinvigorated, he lost himself in the joy of deduction; as for his promised trip to the amusement park with Ran?

That could wait! No rush!! He'd go right after the video ended!!!!

He had no idea how much of the video remained, but he wouldn't leave until he'd seen it through.

Magical Girl Illya World.

"As expected."

A sparkle flashed in Miyu's eyes—she had guessed correctly again.

"Amazing…"

Illya looked on enviously; why was Miyu always right? Once might be luck,

but this often? Luck couldn't explain it!

Miyu really was incredible—seemingly capable of anything. So unfair!!

Illya longed to impress her for once, yet every time they competed she lost. So frustrating!

"Miyu's incredible," magical ruby chimed in, surprised that Miyu's earlier prediction had just come true. Did she possess future sight?

Wait—future sight sounded less absurd than deducing Solomon from just a name.

"No," Miyu murmured softly, shaking her head. "Now I'm no longer sure the culprit is King Solomon."

"Why? Because of what King David said?"

The magical ruby floated in mid-air, shrugging it off. "Maybe King Solomon really did break up with him over ten secret lovers, so now he's taking revenge on society and wiping out humanity."

"Please don't let that be the reason." Illya's expression turned complicated. If human history was really destroyed for something like that, it would leave everyone speechless.

"Hahahahaha—"

The magical ruby laughed loudly as it circled around Illya.

"Lady Miyu, what do you think?" the magical sapphire asked Miyu for her opinion.

"Mm." Miyu gave a small shake of her head. Watching the footage, she said calmly, "Unless the so-called 'King Solomon' shows himself right now, I think Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash's journey should go smoothly from here."

"After all, the hardest part is behind them; they've already built up plenty of experience erasing Singularities."

Miyu felt she was stating the obvious—because in the previous recap video, even against Tiamat the primordial mother goddess, Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash had joined forces with other Servants and defeated her.

In the upcoming Singularities, they probably wouldn't face anything too difficult. Still, Miyu thought… if she were the mastermind,

seeing Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash ruin his plans, she'd definitely make an appearance—either to assert her presence or to crush them outright and keep them from interfering.

That was Miyu's reasoning; anyone could work that much out.

"Got it—next, 'King Solomon' will appear!"

At that moment the magical ruby cut in, utterly serious. "I'm ready."

"…" Illya stared at the magical ruby in exasperation. "Miyu said 'unless right now'—don't jump to conclusions so fast!"

"Heh-heh-heh—" the magical ruby snickered.

The video continued to play.

Fujimaru Ritsuka's group arrived at the Fourth Singularity. With help from a band of Servants led by Mordred, they defeated every enemy in their way.

Just before parting, Mordred smiled at Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash. "Anyway, thanks for everything. You really saved us."

"Londinium was spared—no one ravaged it except me."

With that, Mordred grinned. "All's well that ends well. See ya—"

"Um… Mordred." Mash looked troubled. "There's one thing I want to tell you: that Servant just now was clearly out of control."

"It must be because of Makiri Zolgen's final incantation and the special circumstances of this manifestation in the fog… right?"

"I think… that Servant didn't appear with any intention of her own."

In the final battle, the Servant who stood in Mordred and Mash's way was the Artoria (Alter) they'd seen before.

Of course, compared with the earlier girl-form Artoria,

this Artoria (Alter) was clearly more mature; you could tell just from her figure that she'd grown a lot.

Mordred and Artoria are parent and child (mother and child). Seeing her appear, Mordred assumed it was a deliberate move against her.

So she 'went berserk'!

Now that Mordred had calmed down, Mash brought it up.

"What, trying to comfort me?" Mordred sounded odd; she didn't like the idea. "Don't. I don't want to fight you again while we're saying goodbye."

"N-no, that's not it." Mash flustered. "I… didn't mean… that."

"We only said what we wanted to say," Fujimaru Ritsuka added.

"…"

Mordred fell silent, then burst out laughing. "Hah! I see. Well, I sure said plenty!"

"True, you hit the mark. Fine, I'll let you off the hook—damn it… I shouldn't have said those weird things to Fran."

As the scene prepared to fade out, two figures appeared. A book-carrying man smiled at Mordred. "Oh my, the rebellious knight is rather soft-hearted."

"No matter who it is, if someone pities you, you're supposed to cut them down without mercy—that's what I thought your character was."

The speaker was Shakespeare, the famous writer.

"Wrong." A snarky blue-haired boy showed up, voice reminiscent of the earlier Dio. Looking at Shakespeare, he said, "This guy just gets tied down by bonds with certain opponents—look at Fran and you'll understand."

The blue-haired boy was Andersen, another renowned writer.

"…" Mordred eyed the pair, surprised but 'kindly' saying, "Only showing up after everything's over? Fine—line up and I'll lop all your heads off at once!"

"Huh?!"

At that moment a well-built blond man with an axe appeared—Sakata Kintoki, a Servant who'd barged into this battle.

He sighed on arrival. "I rushed here in a panic—why is it full of weirdos?"

"Are these two Servants? Need a hand?"

"Huff-huff!!" A woman with fox ears and Tail showed up—Tamamo-no-Mae, another gate-crasher alongside Sakata Kintoki.

Panting, she complained, "Geez, wait for me! You ran too fast, Kintoki!"

"!"

Andersen gave Tamamo a disgusted look. "Those fox ears look familiar. Saber, do what you want with Shakespeare, but hear me first."

"Priority target: take out the fox-ears first. Can't say why, but she looks like trouble."

Clearly, Andersen didn't like Tamamo-no-Mae.

Yet Mordred laughed. "If I'm finishing anyone off, you're included!"

Tamamo stared at Andersen, exasperated. "You precocious brat, always picking on me!"

"Beep-beep—"

Dr. Roman's hologram appeared. Smiling at the crowd of Servants, he said, "Hahaha, it's getting lively. Since everything's settled, this feels like a perfect happy ending."

"Yeah, let's all get along," Fujimaru Ritsuka nodded, then looked toward the Holy Grail ahead. "Doctor, we have to retrieve the Grail."

"…Ah." Roman remembered the Grail was still sitting there. "Right, we need to collect it."

"But with no threats left in this era, I got careless—wait?!"

Roman's face turned shocked. "What is this reading?!"

Mash froze for a second, not sure what was happening.

"Everyone, watch out!!!" Dr. Roman said quickly. "Part of the underground space is warping!!! Something's appearing—a phenomenon completely different from a Servant's manifestation."

"Unknown? No, it's more like a Spiritron Transfer. Impossible—who besides Chaldea could control that technology?"

By now Dr. Roman's image had begun to break up with static, as if something were jamming it.

"Um… Senpai, something's wrong." Mash's face turned visibly frightened. She looked at Fujimaru Ritsuka. "Nothing seems off, yet… I've got chills down my spine!"

"The space is opening! Here it comes!!!"

Dr. Roman shouted!

As his voice rang out, a huge hole tore open in the air ahead; countless eye-studded tentacles thrust through, forcing the gap wider.

Every Servant present snapped to alert; Mash stepped in front of Fujimaru, shielding her.

A creeping dread seized them all—not just those on site, but even the people watching through the feed felt overwhelming terror.

Something horrific had descended upon this Singularity.

The visitor had yet to arrive, but his voice preceded him—a man's voice.

"Marshal Mage Gilles de Rais."

"Founder God of the Empire, Romulus."

"Heroic spy, Jason."

"And the divine scholar, Nikola Tesla."

The unseen speaker listed the names of those Fujimaru and Mash had already defeated.

With a hint of scorn and arrogance, the voice added, "I thought they might be of some use, yet they couldn't even play the part of a lackey. How dull."

Arrogance—his first impression.

"Boring, so boring," the man sneered. "Humans truly degenerate with each passing era."

"Ahhh—damn it!" Dr. Roman cried in frustration. "Sheba's unstable; we're only getting audio. What's happening over there?! Mash?!"

"I—I don't know." Sweat beaded on Mash's brow; she could barely breathe. Staring at the breach forced open by the Demon God Pillar, she reported, "A humanoid silhouette is walking slowly toward us."

Sakata Kintoki hefted his axe and stepped ahead of Mash. "Back off, lady. That thing's bad news—not something a decent girl should look at."

Tamamo-no-Mae's expression turned grave. "You're right; I'm outta here. With only two Tails left, even a glance feels like it'll stain me."

Kintoki glanced at her and silently griped: Like hell you care—you should be the one in front!

"Hey! What's with this ridiculous mana?"

Even the fearless Mordred gaped. "It's past dragon-class—more like…"

Shakespeare, equally grim, continued, "The realm of demons, of angels? No, far beyond even those."

"Though a mere Magus in name, I can tell," he went on.

"The foe commands an inexhaustible font of mana; his very being could crush a domain's sovereignty!"

"He is as the gods' creation—nay, a god himself!"

Shakespeare turned to Andersen with a wink. "Am I wrong, dear Andersen? Should we not withdraw for a rest?"

Andersen shot him a flat look. "Must you always exaggerate? Even if he is a god, there ought to be a category. The only deity I fear is the Editor-in-Chief."

"Still…" Andersen clenched his teeth. "I agree on fleeing. I never expected the genuine article to appear at this stage."

"Genuine article? What do you mean?!" Dr. Roman, blind to the scene, panicked. "Fujimaru! Report your status!"

"Oh?"

The male voice returned, apparently having heard Roman. Calmly he said, "So you, too, are audible yet invisible."

"Chaldea severed itself from the time-axis, becoming a refuge none can find."

"Even these eyes that see every future, that discern all, can barely observe Chaldea."

"Thus you survive—ugly, pitiful, pointlessly clinging to life."

"A skiff adrift upon the void, refusing to accept the fate of extinction—both Chaldea and the individual Fujimaru Ritsuka."

"Stains left upon the incinerated pages of human history."

"And the sole fools who dare defy my grand design!"

Mash's knees shook as she raised her shield; instinct screamed that the approaching being was catastrophe itself.

Still, she reported, "Doctor, what exactly is appearing before us…"

"Who are you!" Fujimaru shouted at the distant figure. "Are you the 'King' Lev spoke of?!"

At last the silhouette stepped into full view: a white-haired, brown-skinned man in red-and-white robes, ten rings upon his fingers, strolling like a sovereign into the Singularity.

He gazed down with indifference, as though nothing below merited his notice.

Yet Fujimaru's question drew a curious sound from him.

"Hmm?"

Surveying Fujimaru and the Servants, he said placidly, "What, have you not realized? Are you apes with no teacher to guide you?"

He had not expected them still ignorant of his identity.

But he smiled faintly. "No matter—I favor such ignorance. Ask, and I shall answer."

His expression turned solemn; locking eyes with Fujimaru, he declared:

"I am the ultimate objective you seek."

"The king who commands the seventy-two demon gods and brings ruin to mankind."

"My name is Solomon!"

"One of the seven grand orders, standing atop countless formless heroes!"
