Chapter 122: Witness to the End
One Earth after another vanished.
Each time, it was the same: the sky tore open, the air went still, and then the red wave came—consuming everything. No resistance held. No planet stood a chance.
And still, the Anti-Monitor marched forward.
He wasn't in a hurry. Destruction was inevitable.
Back on Earth-Prime, the atmosphere inside STAR Labs had become thick with dread. Cisco had long since stopped counting the lost Earths. Caitlin sat in silence, staring at a map of flickering Earths on the Cortex screen, blinking out one after another. Nora stood with her arms crossed, jaw tight, trying not to cry again.
Then, without warning, the Monitor reappeared.
He stepped out of a rip in space-time like a shadow stepping out of firelight. No sound. No entrance fanfare. Just cosmic stillness.
He looked directly at Barry.
"It is time," the Monitor said.
Barry didn't move.
"No," he replied firmly.
The Monitor tilted his head, as if he hadn't heard correctly. "You are the Paragon of Love, Barry Allen. You must take your place. The others are gathering as we speak."
"I said no," Barry repeated. His voice didn't rise. It didn't falter. "Not without Dante."
Team Flash all turned to look.
Nora's eyes widened in silent support. Cisco muttered "Damn right." Even Wells raised an eyebrow at Barry's defiance.
The Monitor's brow twitched. "He is not a Paragon. He is unstable. He carries within him not just the Speed Force, but remnants of the Void Force. He is dangerous."
"I don't care," Barry replied.
"You risk the future of the multiverse for him?"
"I risk it for family," Barry snapped. "And if you can't understand that, maybe you picked the wrong god damnit Paragon."
Dante looked at barry who just said god damnit Wich was like this highest level of bad words barry can speak
Dante smiled proud smile " look at you. They grow up so fast"
Barry looked at him confused and smirked " you know I'm older than you"
Dante smile still there " hi . If we count it with the sped force of yours and void force of mine... Guess what I'm older than you by Jesus Christ on cross"
A tense silence filled the room.
The Monitor's cosmic patience began to thin, the lights in the Cortex flickering under the pressure of his presence.
And then—Dante spoke again but this time to the Monitor
With his usual swagger and that sarcastic fire in his voice.
"You know what?" Dante stepped forward, arms crossed, a smirk on his face. "Let's stop pretending I want to be one of your chosen few. I don't care about your damn Paragons. I don't care about the prophecy or destiny or whatever cosmic brochure you handed Barry."
The Monitor turned his gaze slowly toward him.
Dante didn't flinch.
"Hell, I've never been a hero. I'm not noble. I don't wear capes. I curse too much, smoke too often, and I definitely don't make motivational speeches."
He looked around at everyone—at Nora, at Cisco, then back at Barry.
"But I do give a damn about the people standing in this room. And it'll be a cold day in hell before I let my friend walk into oblivion with your smug, galaxy-brained self without backup."
A ghost of a smile flickered on Nora's face.
The Monitor's expression didn't change. "You would die."
Dante grinned. "You think I haven't already?"
Silence.
Then he added, voice low and laced with strange wonder, "Take me with Barry and the other Paragons. Not as one of them. Not as some grand savior. But as a witness."
"A witness?" Caitlin asked.
Dante turned to her, then to the others.
"I want to see the end. I want to watch how it falls. Maybe... I just want to see how far it goes before everything snaps. I don't know. Guess I've always had a thing for disasters."
He chuckled bitterly. "I mean, if I'm going to die anyway, might as well enjoy the fireworks."
Barry placed a hand on his shoulder. "You're not dying."
Dante looked at him, eyes glinting red. "Everyone dies, Barry. But if I go down, I go down watching the universe burn beside my best friend. That's a hell of a better ending than most people get."
The Monitor studied Dante carefully.
"You would go into the void willingly. Knowing you are not one of the Seven. Knowing your existence threatens the balance."
Dante shrugged. "I've been threatening the balance since I was born."
Another pause.
Then—The Monitor slowly raised a hand, and space split open behind him, revealing a dark corridor of stars and shadow.
"Then so be it."
Barry stepped forward.
Nora ran to him, hugging him tight. "Be careful, dad."
He smiled down at her, brushing a tear from her cheek. "I will. You stay safe, okay?"
"I'll protect the team."
Dante ruffled her hair. "That's my girl."
Then he looked at Cisco. "If I don't make it back—"
"You're gonna owe me drinks for a year," Cisco said, cutting him off with a small smile.
Dante smirked. "Damn right I will."
The Monitor stepped into the portal. Barry followed. And without hesitation, Dante stepped through behind them.
And just like that—Team Flash watched their two strongest walk into the end of time.
The lights of STAR Labs dimmed once more, the echo of their departure lingering in the silence.
Nora wiped her face, steel settling into her voice. "We're not done yet."
And across the multiverse, the final battle approached.
