Chapter 97 — "The Day the Sky Broke"
Life went on.
It always did.
No matter how many wars they fought or how many friends they lost, the world kept spinning. The sun kept rising. People smiled again, even if those smiles carried old shadows.
Team Flash began to breathe easier. Slowly. Carefully. Some wounds closed, some didn't. But still… they lived.
And then Barry did something no one expected.
He proposed.
Not with lightning, or some grand Flash moment—just Barry Allen, on one knee, holding a ring in the quiet corner of Jitters where he first met her.
Patty Spivot said yes through tears.
And just like that, there was hope again.
---
The invitations were sent across the multiverse.
Kara Danvers. Kate Kane. Oliver Queen. Sara Lance. Jax. Nate. Cisco even figured out how to send one to the Time Bureau (they declined but sent flowers).
It was to be held at STAR Labs—on neutral ground, a place of memory and family. No enemies. No suits. Just friends, laughter, and the binding of two souls.
Caitlin helped with the arrangements.
Cisco made the tech unhackable.
Even Joe cried when he read the vows ahead of time.
And on that day, the sun shined bright over Central City.
---
Barry stood at the altar in a sleek black suit, his tie slightly crooked, his nerves firing faster than even his speed could control.
Cisco stood beside him as best man, smiling so wide it almost hurt.
Caitlin sat in the front row, tears welling up. Even Iris had returned, leaning into Caitlin's shoulder
And then came the music.
Patty walked in, hand-in-hand with Joe West, in a white dress that shimmered like sunlight on water. Her eyes were fixed on Barry like he was the only one in the room.
When she reached him, Barry whispered, "You look like forever."
And for the first time in a long time, everything felt… right.
The ceremony began.
Vows were exchanged.
Promises of forever and through all timelines, universes, and paradoxes.
When the officiant asked if anyone objected, Cisco chuckled and whispered, "Don't tempt fate."
And then—
Just as Barry leaned in to kiss his bride—
The sky cracked.
A breach tore through the center of the room like someone had taken a blade to reality itself.
And out of it marched men in black and red.
Their faces covered in helmets adorned with a twisted lightning symbol. Their uniforms bore the unmistakable, sickening emblem of the Reich.
Earth-X.
"Get down!" Oliver shouted, drawing an arrow from under his jacket faster than anyone could react.
Kara launched upward, ripping through her dress as her cape flared out. "It's them. The Nazis. Earth-X."
Barry grabbed Patty, vanishing them to safety in a burst of lightning before returning a second later in the Flash suit.
Cisco activated the lab's shields. "They breached right into the ceremony. We've got a serious problem!"
Caitlin, already mid-transformation into Killer Frost, froze the nearest soldier before he could fire.
More poured in.
Dozens.
Then a woman appeared behind them. A cold, brutal smile on her lips.
Overgirl.
Kara's twisted doppelgänger from Earth-X, dressed in blood-black armor and bearing the same face as Supergirl—only colder, sharper, wrong.
"You took too much from us," she said, staring at Kara. "And now we take it back."
"Not today," Kara replied, launching forward.
Their fists collided in midair, the shockwave blowing out every window in STAR Labs.
Barry blurred through the fight, knocking soldiers off their feet, but they just kept coming. More breaches opened—Earth-X reinforcements.
Patty, safely hidden behind a forcefield, watched in horror as the wedding turned into a warzone.
Cisco ran to her, opening a breach. "I'm getting you out of here."
"No," she said, eyes fierce. "This is my family too."
They didn't argue—just moved together. Cisco opened breaches to give Kara aerial space and let Sara and Oliver tag team the central unit.
Caitlin blasted ice while Jax tackled two stormtroopers to the ground.
And then came the one they feared.
A black blur moved through the crowd.
Fast.
Too fast.
Faster than Barry.
He hit Barry from behind, sending him crashing through the wall and skidding across the pavement outside.
When Barry looked up, blood running from his mouth, he saw him.
Dark Flash.
An Earth-X speedster clad in obsidian armor, his face twisted with glee.
"Nice tux," Dark Flash said with a smirk. "Shame about the wedding."
Barry pushed himself up, breathing hard. "You're not welcome here."
Dark Flash vanished in a streak of black lightning—and the fight truly began.
---
Inside the lab, Overgirl pinned Kara against a console.
"You're soft," she sneered. "Weddings. Love. Friendship. Weakness."
Kara gritted her teeth. "Maybe. But at least I know who I am."
She blasted Overgirl with heat vision and tackled her through the ceiling, straight into the sky.
Sara fought hand to hand with one of the commanders, her white dress stained in red. She twirled and stabbed with lethal precision.
Oliver covered her, arrows flying in rapid succession.
"Remind me never to RSVP to a multiverse wedding again," he muttered.
"You love it," Sara grinned mid-kick.
---
Outside, Barry was being pushed to his limits.
Dark Flash was ruthless, fast, unpredictable.
"I've run through every version of you," the villain hissed. "This is the one who cried at his brother's funeral. How poetic."
Barry flared with speed. "This is the one who's going to stop you."
He zipped up the building, redirected lightning, and collided with Dark Flash in midair—lightning on lightning, rage against cruelty.
They crashed back into the battlefield.
---
Eventually, reinforcements came.
Kara returned from the sky, Overgirl unconscious in her arms.
Cisco breached in more allies—Diggle, Alex Danvers, even Heatwave.
And finally, with one last coordinated strike, they pushed Earth-X back.
The final breach closed.
And silence fell.
---
Inside what remained of the lab, the wedding was in ruins.
Broken chairs. Blood on white rose petals. A cracked altar.
Barry stood in the center, suit torn, holding Patty's hand.
She looked up at him, smiling through the dust.
"Still want to marry me?" he asked softly.
Patty nodded. "More than ever."
