Chapter 52 - Life together

[Six Months After Wedding - Their Home]

Rain and Prapai had bought a house together—a collaborative design project where Rain incorporated everything he'd learned about trauma-informed spaces.

Open floor plan, lots of natural light, a studio for Rain's work, a garden they tended together.

"Home," Rain said softly, looking around their living room.

"Our home," Prapai corrected, pulling Rain onto the couch beside him.

They'd hosted their first dinner party last week—Sky and his boyfriend, Pete and Vegas, Kinn and Porsche. The house had been filled with laughter and love.

"I never thought I'd have this,"

"It's real," Prapai promised. "And it's ours."

Rain's phone buzzed. Dr. Anong checking in—they'd reduced therapy to once a month now, Rain having made significant progress.

Dr. Anong: How are you doing? Any triggers this week?

Rain: Good week. Minimal anxiety. Feeling stable and happy.

Dr. Anong: That's wonderful progress. See you next month.

Rain showed Prapai the exchange. "A year ago, I was in therapy twice a week. Now it's monthly maintenance. I'm actually healing."

"You've worked so hard for this," Prapai said proudly.

[Rain's Office - Next Day]

Rain was meeting with a new client—a domestic violence shelter needing redesign.

"We want survivors to feel safe immediately upon entering," the director explained. "Many are fleeing dangerous situations. The space needs to communicate 'you're protected here.'"

Rain took notes, his mind already designing. "Clear sightlines to exits. Private spaces but not isolated ones. Calming colors. Natural light. Sound dampening for privacy."

"You understand this deeply," the director observed.

"I'm a survivor too," Rain said. "Different circumstances, but I understand needing to feel safe."

The director smiled. "Then you're perfect for this project."

Rain left energized. This was his calling—using his trauma to help others heal.
