[Two Months After Rescue - Estate Gardens]
Rain and Prapai sat by the pond, watching koi swim lazily. They'd fallen into a comfortable routine—morning coffee together, walks in the garden, quiet evenings reading side by side.
Rain was beginning to feel something beyond friendship.
"P'Pai?" Rain said suddenly. "Can I... can I try something?"
"Of course."
Rain slowly reached for Prapai's hand. Just holding it. Testing how it felt.
Prapai stayed still, letting Rain control everything.
Their fingers interlaced. Rain focused on the sensation—warm, gentle, nothing like Phayu's possessive grip.
"Okay?" Prapai asked softly.
"Yeah," Rain breathed. "Yeah, this is okay."
They sat like that for an hour, just holding hands. Such a simple gesture, but for Rain, it was monumental.
Choosing touch. Wanting touch. Not fearing it.
When Rain finally let go, Prapai smiled. "Thank you for trusting me."
"Thank you for being patient."
[Later - Rain's Therapy]
"I held Prapai's hand today," Rain told Dr. Anong. "On purpose. Because I wanted to."
"That's wonderful progress. How did it feel?"
"Scary at first. But then... nice. Different from before. Better."
"You're reclaiming physical affection on your terms. That's huge." Dr. Anong made notes. "Are you developing feelings for Prapai?"
Rain considered. "I think so. But I'm terrified of relationships. What if I can't tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy? What if I repeat patterns?"
"That's a valid fear. But Rain, you're not the same person you were with Phayu. You have awareness now, therapy, support. And Prapai has been nothing but respectful of your boundaries."
"I know. He's been amazing. But what if I'm too broken for a relationship?"
"You're not broken. You're healing. And healing people can still love and be loved." Dr. Anong smiled. "The question is: do you want to explore these feelings with Prapai?"
"Yes," Rain admitted. "But slowly. Very, very slowly."
"Then tell him that. Communication is the foundation of healthy relationships."
Rain nodded, feeling hopeful and terrified in equal measure.
