Chapter 94 - {Mini Arc(2)}[Shuun-Vo/4-12c]

Chapter 4: The Meeting with Lumea-Vorr

Shuun-Vo hadn't planned to meet Lumea-Vorr.

She appeared in the fiftieth space, an underground chamber Shuun-Vo had created in the depths of an abandoned Cognitive Citadel. It was a dark, damp place, where the silence was so dense it seemed solid.

Lumea entered as if she knew the way. Her liquid form glowed softly in the darkness, adapting to the humidity of the environment. She didn't seem surprised to find Shuun-Vo there.

- "Kael told me you were spreading - she said, without preamble."

- "Kael talks too much."

- "Kael worries."

Shuun-Vo snorted. It was a rough sound, escaping his throat like a crack.

- "Worry is useless. It changes nothing."

- "You've changed - Lumea said." - "Before, you didn't create spaces. You didn't let people get close. You didn't sit with children."

- "How do you know that?"

- "Because I observe - Lumea said. - Just like you."

Shuun-Vo was silent. Lumea sat on a nearby stone, her liquid form adjusting to the irregular surface. She didn't look uncomfortable, Lumea never looked uncomfortable. It was one of the things that most irritated Shuun-Vo about her.

- "Why are you here? - he asked."

- "Because you're wearing down. And because I am too."

Shuun-Vo looked at her. Lumea-Vorr, the Mutable Master, the water that had chosen to stop. She looked the same as always: fluid, adaptable, serene. But there was something in her eyes, a weariness that Shuun-Vo recognized.

- "Are you spreading too? - he asked."

- "No. I'm withdrawing."

Lumea sighed. Her form rippled, like a puddle touched by wind.

- "During the Second Cycle, I refused to help. I saw what was happening, the Passive Ethical Neutralization, the intermediaries, the collapse, and I stepped away. I thought I was respecting others' right to choose. But I was just running away."

- "Running away is a choice - Shuun-Vo said."

- "It is. But it's not mine. Not anymore."

Lumea tilted her head, observing Shuun-Vo with an intensity that made him uncomfortable.

- "You create spaces where people can do nothing - she said." - "That's important. But you also need a space like that. And you can't create it alone."

- "I don't need anything."

- "You do. Your plates are cracking. You're tired. And for the first time since I've known you, you're afraid."

Shuun-Vo clenched his fists. The plates on his hands emitted a faint glow, almost defensive.

- "What do you want? - he asked, his voice rougher than usual."

- "I want you to come with me - Lumea said." - "There's a place I want to show you."

- "What place?"

- "A place where water chose to stop. A place where I learned to rest."

Shuun-Vo hesitated. He had never accepted invitations. Never followed anyone anywhere. His existence was defined by refusal.

But something in Lumea's voice, a note of vulnerability he had never heard before, made him consider.

- "Why would I go?"

- "Because - Lumea said, with a sad smile." - "You taught me that silence can heal. Now let me teach you that rest can too."
