Miranda woke up to the sound of her phone vibrating somewhere beneath her pillow.
At first, she ignored it.
The room was still dim, and the comfort of her bed made it tempting to stay exactly where she was. After several exhausting days filled with calls, meetings, and endless congratulations, a few more minutes of peace sounded far more appealing than whatever awaited her on the other side of that screen.
Unfortunately, the phone refused to cooperate.
The vibration stopped for a few seconds before starting again almost immediately. Then another notification followed. Then another.
Miranda released a tired sigh and reached beneath the pillow.
The moment she unlocked the screen, her expression froze.
Thirty-seven unread messages.
Twelve missed calls.
Several social media notifications.
Multiple emails.
And more continued arriving every few seconds.
She stared at the screen silently.
