Chapter 28 - Another World

After observing the Goddess's world, Makoto used the abilities he had obtained from Erin to detect other worlds. He could sense several worlds close to the Goddess's realm, and soon realized that one of the worlds he detected might be the world he had lived in previously. From several directions, he also sensed worlds that were extremely powerful.

After deciding on a direction, Makoto chose to head toward a world that was not overly strong, yet still stronger than the Goddess's world. Without hesitation, he completely erased his presence so that he would not be detected by any beings that might exist within this chaotic space.

Makoto then used one of Erin's abilities to travel toward the chosen world. After flying for an unknown length of time and passing several worlds weaker than the Goddess's realm, he finally arrived before another world with a fairly strong dimensional barrier. Although it was not as strong as Eryndal's, it was clearly stronger than the Goddess's world.

Standing before this new world, Makoto did not sense the holy aura of a god or goddess ruling it. He could feel a sacred aura, but it was different from that of an active deity—more like a lingering remnant of divine power. This led to two possibilities: either the god who ruled this world was currently absent, or that god had already perished.

Makoto approached the dimensional wall and placed his hand against it, then used Erin's power to synchronize his frequency with the world's barrier. Once the frequencies aligned, his hand passed through effortlessly. Without further thought, Makoto flew into the world, leaving no trace on the dimensional wall.

After passing through, Makoto found himself falling from the sky.

"Why is it that every time I go to another world, I end up skydiving?" Makoto muttered inwardly.

As he fell, he surveyed his surroundings. As far as he could see, there were only dense forests and distant mountains. After falling for a while, Makoto finally hit the ground, creating a small crater.

"Hm, I landed in a pretty decent place—much better than the barren edge of a desolate world," Makoto said.

Makoto then used Sakai to scan the surrounding area. After a short time, he grasped the situation. The forest was filled with numerous monsters, some of them quite powerful. He also detected a small city located deep within the forest. Inside the city were several fairly strong auras, and not far from it were two particularly powerful ones—one of which was slightly stronger than Tomoe and Mio.

After confirming that there were no immediate threats, Makoto revealed himself again, having concealed his presence with camouflage. The moment he did, the world itself detected his existence.

[Unique individual confirmed: Misumi Makoto]

[Confirmed: Generating Unique Skill — Super Body]

[Confirmed: Generating Skill — Mana Regeneration]

[Confirmed: Generating Skill — Mana Manipulation]

[Confirmed: Generating …]

Hearing these sudden voices in his head, Makoto was confused. He looked around, unsure of what had just happened.

"At times like this, I really wish I had an assistant who could explain what's going on," Makoto sighed.

[Confirmed: Generating Extra Skill — Assistant]

Makoto grew even more confused upon hearing the voice again.

"So what exactly is happening?" Makoto asked.

[Answer: Individual Misumi Makoto has acquired skills.]

"Skills? Then who's talking right now?" Makoto asked.

[Answer: This is the effect of the Extra Skill — Assistant.]

"Then how did I suddenly obtain a whole bunch of skills?" Makoto asked.

[Answer: The world detected the abilities of Individual Misumi Makoto and generated skills accordingly.]

"So skills have different categories?" Makoto asked.

[Answer: Skills are divided into several types: Common Skills, Extra Skills, Unique Skills, and Ultimate Skills.]

After hearing the explanation from the Assistant skill, Makoto recalled an anime he had enjoyed in his previous life, though he had not yet fully confirmed his suspicion.

"What's needed to upgrade a skill?" Makoto asked.

[Answer: Magical energy and soul energy are required to create and upgrade skills.]

"Then can I turn the Extra Skill: Assistant into a Unique Skill?" Makoto asked.

[Answer: Yes.]

[Proceed to upgrade Extra Skill: Assistant?]

[Yes / No]

Without hesitation, Makoto answered, "Yes."

He felt his magical energy and soul power decrease slightly, but they instantly recovered.

[Confirmed: Extra Skill — Assistant has successfully evolved into Unique Skill — Perfect Assistant.]

Hearing this, Makoto smiled.

"Looks like I've found something advantageous," he said.

"Erin, can you hear me?" Makoto asked through their soul bond.

"I can hear you clearly, Onii-chan!" Erin replied cheerfully.

"How much time has passed since I left?" Makoto asked.

"Only a few hours since you left," Erin answered.

"Looks like I'm pretty lucky," Makoto said. "I'll send you my coordinates. Once you're ready, you can create a portal. After Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki pass through, you can close it."

At the same time, in the world of Eryndal, Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki were still standing and waiting for news.

"Tomoe-san, should we ask Erin-chan about Waka-sama?" Mio asked.

"Better not," Tomoe replied seriously. "We don't know what's happening out there. It's best to wait for Waka to contact us so we don't disturb him if something important is happening."

"Tomoe nee-chan, Mio nee-chan, Shiki-san! I've received news from Onii-chan!" Erin exclaimed.

"How is Waka-sama?" Mio asked impatiently.

"Mio, don't rush. Let Erin tell us first," Tomoe said.

Shiki remained silent, focusing intently on Erin.

"Onii-chan is fine. He's arrived in another world. He's also given me his coordinates to create a portal connecting the two worlds. Once you've finished preparing, Tomoe nee-chan, Mio nee-chan, and Shiki-san can come through the portal," Erin explained.

"Tomoe-san, let's go to Waka-sama right away!" Mio urged.

"Wait a moment, Mio. I need to inform Ema that we'll be gone for a while," Tomoe said.

"Then hurry up!" Mio replied.

Tomoe contacted Ema via telepathy.

"Ema, it's me."

"Yes, Tomoe-sama. Is there something you need?" Ema asked.

"Waka, Mio, Shiki, and I will be leaving for a while and won't be reachable. If you need approval for something, contact Komoe—she knows how to reach us," Tomoe said.

"Understood. I wish you a safe journey," Ema replied, unaware of where they were headed and assuming they were going to the Goddess's world.

"Everything's ready. Erin-chan, can you create the portal now?" Tomoe asked.

"Of course, Tomoe nee-chan," Erin replied.

Erin closed her eyes and focused on detecting Makoto's coordinates. Once she found them, she created a portal connecting the two worlds. It began as a small vortex in the air, gradually expanding. When it was large enough, Erin stabilized the space and time within it. Once stabilized, the portal no longer looked like a vortex, but like a mirror, faintly reflecting the scenery beyond.

"The portal is stable. Tomoe nee-chan, Mio nee-chan, Shiki-san—you can pass through now," Erin said.

Without hesitation, they stepped through the portal. After they passed, Erin closed it.

On the other side, Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki saw Makoto standing before them. As they were about to speak, a sudden voice echoed in their minds, halting their movements and forcing them into combat-ready stances as they cautiously scanned their surroundings.

Seeing this, Makoto simply shook his head.

"Stop. The voice you're hearing isn't an enemy—it's the voice of this world," Makoto said.

Hearing his command, Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki lowered their weapons.

"Waka, what exactly is going on?" Tomoe asked, with Mio and Shiki also looking to Makoto for an explanation.

Makoto explained the system of this world: every living being was granted skills by the world itself. Skills could be formed based on physical traits, talent, diligently trained abilities, or even strong desires. In essence, skills were achievements acknowledged by the world. He also explained the different types of skills and their distinctions.

"So skills are abilities we already possess that have been recognized by this world," Tomoe said.

"Basically, yes," Makoto replied.

"Then what skills did you all obtain after coming to this world?" Makoto asked.

"I gained several skills, such as [Unique Skill: Illusion Master], [Extra Skill: Memory Reading], and many others," Tomoe said.

"Waka-sama, I obtained [Unique Skill: Predator], [Extra Skill: Infinite Regeneration], and many more!" Mio said cheerfully.

"Waka-sama, I obtained [Unique Skill: Researcher], [Extra Skill: Analysis], and others," Shiki added.

"It seems only your core characteristics became skills. We can discuss how to develop them later—looks like we have a guest," Makoto said, glancing toward the city he had detected earlier.

Suddenly, something fell from the sky at incredible speed.

BOOOM!

An explosion occurred not far from Makoto and the others. Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki instantly moved in front of Makoto to protect him.

As the dust cleared, a young girl with pink hair stood at the center of the crater.

"Nice to meet you. I am the only Dragonoid, also known as the Destroyer—Demon Lord Milim Nava," she declared.

"Who are you? And why do I sense dragon aura from that blue-haired woman?" Milim asked in confusion.

"Oh? Looks like we're getting quite the lively welcome, Waka," Tomoe said warily.

The tension between them rose.

"Wait a second!" someone shouted as they flew down from the sky and landed beside Milim. "Milim, didn't you say you wouldn't go on a rampage just now?" said a blue-haired boy.

Upon seeing them, Makoto became certain of the world he was in.

This was the world of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken.

"Tomoe, Mio, Shiki, calm down. They're not enemies," Makoto said.

"Good afternoon. My name is Misumi Makoto. If I may ask, where are we?" Makoto asked.

"My name is Rimuru—Rimuru Tempest. As you can see, the girl beside me is Milim, and this place is the Jura Forest," Rimuru replied.

"How did you come here without knowing where you were?" Rimuru asked.

"We came from another world using a special ability, which is why we didn't know our location," Makoto explained. He felt there was no benefit in lying, especially since Rimuru and Milim weren't evil.

A short while earlier, before Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki passed through the portal, Milim had been chatting with Rimuru.

"Delicious, delicious—this is really good!" Milim said while eating honey.

"That's good to hear," Rimuru replied.

"Hey, hey," Milim said.

"Hm?" Rimuru responded.

"You don't want to become a Demon Lord?" Milim asked.

"Why bother with something so troublesome?" Rimuru replied.

"What!? A Demon Lord! It's cool, right? You admire them, don't you?" Milim exclaimed.

"Nope," Rimuru said.

"Huh!?" Milim gasped.

"Huh?" Rimuru tilted his head.

"Then what's the benefit of becoming a Demon Lord?" Rimuru asked.

"You get to fight strong opponents—it's fun!" Milim said.

"I've had enough of things like that. I'm not interested," Rimuru replied.

"What!? Then what do you enjoy in life?" Milim asked.

"A lot! I have so much to do that I'm overwhelmed," Rimuru answered.

"Then besides fighting, what's the benefit of being a Demon Lord?" Rimuru asked again.

"None, but… you can command demons and humans!" Milim said.

"That sounds boring, doesn't it?" Rimuru replied.

"Huh!?" Milim exclaimed.

"Well then, I'll be heading back. Take care," Rimuru said.

"Wait! You must be doing something more exciting than being a Demon Lord, right?" Milim asked.

"That's not fair! Not fair! I'm mad!" Milim shouted, swinging at Rimuru.

"Even if you're mad…" Rimuru said.

"Tell me!" Milim demanded, squeezing Rimuru's slime body.

"Then make me your companion! Take me to your village!" Milim said.

"Are you a sulking child?" Rimuru said, slipping free.

"Fine, fine—but there's a condition. From now on, call me Rimuru-san," Rimuru said.

"Don't joke around! That's backwards!" Milim protested. "You should call me Milim-sama!"

"How about this: I call you Milim, and you call me Rimuru. Deal?" Rimuru suggested.

"Fine—but only you. Only my fellow Demon Lord friends get to call me Milim," Milim said.

"Yeah, yeah, thanks. Then from today on, we're friends," Rimuru said.

"…Yeah," Milim replied.

"Next, I'll take you to the village—but don't go on a rampage again, okay? Promise me, Milim," Rimuru said.

"Of course, I promise, Rimuru," Milim replied.

Suddenly, several powerful auras appeared, causing Milim and Rimuru to look toward the forest.

"Rimuru, looks like something interesting is over there!" Milim said, flying toward the sensed auras.

Watching her leave, Rimuru said, "Everyone, go back to the city. I'll chase after Milim," as he transformed into a human form and flew after her.
