"Miles Xavier, you..." His response left her unsure how to react.
She had been furious with Rosalind Paxton and her daughter, and what Miles did had certainly been a way for her to let off some steam.

The two servants behind her gestured for her to leave.
Joan Shaw glanced back at them, then turned to look at Miles Xavier.
Finn Norris was gone, which meant she was truly alone in Novaterra. And since her English was poor, she probably wouldn't get very far if she left on her own.
"Um... Boss Man, can I stay here for one night? I'll buy a plane ticket home tomorrow..."
"I could let you stay. But you'll have to give me a reason I should want to."
'Well...' She couldn't exactly tell him they'd been intimate, so he should let her stay for old times' sake.
But she just couldn't bring herself to say it.
"If you don't want to keep me, then fine. I'll leave..." She gritted her teeth, turning and brushing past Miles Xavier.
