Joan Shaw turned her head, her brow furrowed. How could she possibly believe her senior would betray her?
Miles Xavier knew she would misunderstand. He knew that in her heart, he would always be a man who would do anything to get what he wanted.
He let out a cold laugh and strode forward, grabbing her hand. 'Since she already thinks so poorly of me, I might as well not explain myself. Actions speak louder than words.'
He swept her up into his arms.
Joan Shaw pushed against him, resisting. She had finally managed to get away from him, and now she was being forced back to his side. She couldn't accept it.
She pulled her phone from her pocket, pushing him away with her other hand. She wanted to call Finn Norris and demand an explanation.
She had just dialed the number, but before the call could connect, Miles Xavier snatched the phone from her and slammed it onto the floor.
