At his praise, Holly Winslow's eyes curved into crescents. She tilted her little face up and asked expectantly, "Dad, my teacher complimented me. Is there a reward?"
Wyatt Winslow glanced at her before turning his gaze back to the road. Without asking what she wanted, he said, "Yes."
Holly kept her eyes on him. Seeing the corner of his mouth twitch up, she giggled. "I don't need a reward. I just want my dad."
The car swerved slightly. Wyatt quickly steadied the steering wheel. The inertia made Holly lurch to the side.
Wyatt reached out a hand to steady her. "Keep your seatbelt on."
After that, Holly obediently refastened her seatbelt and didn't say another word to distract Wyatt.
The car passed the Delian Community and headed toward the county center, stopping in the mall's parking garage.
Holly asked, puzzled, "Dad, where are we going?"
"Shopping." Wyatt didn't elaborate.
