Yara Ross's expression turned grim as she listened to Eleanor Bishop. "Eleanor," she said angrily, "did you upset Jason again?"
"Jason, Jason... Mom, is he the only one you care about?!" Sometimes, she truly wondered if she was her mother's actual daughter, or if Jason Lockwood was her son.
"Eleanor Bishop, what nonsense are you spouting! Is that any way to talk to your mother?"
Eleanor Bishop felt utterly exhausted, body and soul. When she spoke, her voice was tinged with pleading. "Mom, I came back so late last night. Aren't you going to ask what happened?" Even a single question would have kept her heart from feeling so cold...
"What else could have happened? Eleanor Bishop, don't change the subject. Just tell me the truth, did you upset Jason? If you did, go and apologize to him right now," Yara Ross snapped, jabbing an angry finger toward the door.
