After Vera hung up, she saw a long line had formed behind her. Only then did she remember that in this day and age, you still had to wait in line to use the phone at school. She had made several calls, and a lot of time had passed.
Some students behind her had grown impatient and were starting to complain.
Vera felt she had made people wait too long, so she sheepishly apologized to the student behind her before dashing off to pay the bill. She had to admit, phone calls were a bit pricey in this era. Fortunately, she wasn't a truly broke student.
Just as she was about to head back to her dorm, she heard someone call out to her, "Vera Xavier!"
She turned and saw Shane Caldwell. If not for seeing him right then, she would have almost forgotten that he had also been accepted into Veridia University.
