Zachary Preston and Rona Langdon were just coming downstairs when they saw Vera's state. Rona asked, "What's wrong? Why is your face so red? Did you do something you feel guilty about?"
Vera had no intention of explaining anything to her. She just said, "Can we leave for Grandpa and Grandma's house now?"
Zachary Preston nodded. He was also a little curious seeing Vera's flushed face, but he didn't ask.
Cara Preston shot her a sidelong glance and ground her teeth, but said nothing.
Her grandparents' home was also in the countryside, not too far from Xavier Village where Vera had lived before moving back to the city. Only one village separated them.
Their arrival made her grandparents very happy. However, their expressions grew a little complicated when they saw Vera. In their eyes, although Vera was their granddaughter, they had never lived with her, so things always felt a bit awkward.
After coming inside, Vera obediently called out, "Hi, Grandpa! Hi, Grandma!"
