Since Celia Sterling had put it that way, Adeline Lowell nodded. "I think your decision is excellent."

She had been worried that reverting to her Summer Sutton identity would create distance between Celia and those two men. But now, this was clearly the best choice. It was also a double insurance for Celia Sterling; she wouldn't have to worry about anyone bullying her, nor would she have to fear a repeat of what happened to Sylvia Lowell, who fell for the wrong man.

But now that things had come to this, some matters could be laid to rest. Adeline Lowell said, "In that case, you don't have to concern yourself with the rumors about a marriage contract with The Ninth Master. I shouldn't have brought it up. My apologies."

"It's nothing. I know you're just looking out for me, Aunt," Celia Sterling said with a noncommittal smile.
