Mindy Miller glanced down at the time on her phone. It was almost noon. "Why don't we head back now? I'll have the kitchen make some soup for Laura."
"Okay."
Laura Lowell agreed, then poked Aiden Shaw's arm. "You're coming with me."
"Wherever you and the baby go, I'll go."
Aiden Shaw dotingly nuzzled Laura Lowell's head, then took her overcoat and helped her put it on.
Marian Miller stood up from the sofa as well, advising worriedly, "Laura, you're two people now. You have to be extra careful when you're out and about. Don't get any bumps or bruises. If there's anything you're craving, just call Mom, and I'll buy it and bring it over."
"I know, Mom. Don't worry."
Laura felt like she'd become a precious commodity.
After calling the housekeeper, Mindy Miller insisted on having Marian Miller over for dinner, but Marian said she needed to make another trip to the mall—there were still so many things she hadn't bought for her granddaughter.
