Laura Lowell was no stranger to her parents pushing her into arranged dates, so she could really sympathize with what Nancy was going through. Still, there was nothing she could do to help.
"Oh, heavens above! All you gods and saints out there, I'm begging you, please work a miracle and help me get through this! Please!"
With a miserable expression of utter despair, Nancy pressed her hands together in a desperate plea.
Laura Lowell patted her shoulder and casually picked up the remote to turn on the TV. "Don't overthink it. Just play along for now. You'll figure something out."
"I need to get to the bank right now and withdraw all my money. Otherwise, my parents might pull the rug out from under me, and if I'm not prepared, I'll be completely screwed."
The thought suddenly struck Nancy. She shot up from the sofa, grabbed her coat and bag, and hurried toward the door. "LoriaLaura, I'm heading out! If my parents ever drive me to the brink, you have to take me in!"
