The man crouched down, his warm palm cupping Hannah Hale's ankle as he carefully slipped the high heel off her foot.
Blood steadily oozed from where the shoe had rubbed her skin raw. Hannah Hale sucked in a sharp breath, the pain nearly bringing tears to her eyes.
The man placed Hannah Hale's foot on top of his own shoe and looked up slightly. "Hold on to me. I'll help you take the other one off."
Hannah Hale's head throbbed with a dizzy ache. She looked at this man. Her intuition told her he meant no harm and didn't seem like a bad person.
Without thinking much more about it, Hannah Hale placed her hands on the man's shoulders.
"Let me take you to the hospital. That wound on your foot needs to be dressed."
