The giant axe and the star collided violently, creating a deafening crash.
A violent shockwave of energy raged within the barrier. Aston felt an unstoppable, immense force travel up the handle of his axe. The webbing between his thumb and forefinger instantly tore open, and the bones in his entire arm groaned under the strain.
In that same instant, the long sword, brimming with endless killing intent, silently pierced through his back and out his chest.
Aston's body went rigid. He looked down in disbelief at the cold, blood-tipped point of the blade protruding from his chest.
The fury and fighting spirit in his eyes vanished as quickly as air from a popped balloon, replaced by endless confusion and despair.
He opened his mouth as if to say something, but only a gush of fresh blood filled his throat.
The phantom Blood Lion behind him let out a mournful, unwilling cry before, with a BANG, it completely disintegrated into countless motes of light and vanished.
