Cecilia Adler thought for a moment before asking Claire Jocelyn for her opinion.
"Mama, if we change my name, will its meaning change?" Claire Jocelyn was mindful of her name's beautiful significance.
"Yes."
"I don't want it to change," Claire Jocelyn said cautiously. "Can we not change it?"
Cecilia Adler mused, "In that case, you can decide on your own name when you become an adult."
"When do you become an adult?"
Cecilia Adler patiently explained.
The little girl, only half-understanding, said with certainty, "I definitely won't change it when I grow up, because Daddy told me you should see things through from beginning to end. A name is the same—once you have one, it's for life."
Ian Quincy was speechless. 'When did I ever tell her that? It must have been *that person* who taught her.'
Even though she wasn't wrong, hearing it announced in public made his face flush slightly. "Go on and play. You're too young to be spouting such nonsense."
