"The deer calls 'youyou' while eating the wild apples," Si Shuo added with a light chuckle.
As if hearing their name, the cubs cried "youyou" twice, their voices milky yet clear and delicate.
Si Shuo found it amusing. She leaned against Xu Chi and peeked over.
The cubs were already in Gong You's and Ji Liang's arms. Both of them smiled and brought the babies closer for her to see.
The two little ones hadn't opened their eyes yet. Their tiny hands were clenched into tight fists, which they brought to their mouths to suckle. They must have been terribly hungry; their brows were furrowed and their lips pursed, looking as if they were about to cry any second.
Si Shuo smiled and poked the male cub's small deer antlers. "Your name is Xu Ye." She then touched the female cub's cheek. "Xuyou. Little Youyou!"
The two little ones paused their sucking for a moment, then buried their heads and went back to earnestly gnawing on their fists.
"Youyou, Xuyou!"
