As she spoke, Renee Jennings pushed Six behind her, her voice gentle. "Six, does your leg still hurt? Don't worry. Aunt Renee is here, and I won't let you be mistreated."
"Renee Jennings, are you out of your mind?" Naomi Kenway froze, her expression turning to ice.
"Me? You're the one with the problem," Renee Jennings retorted. "How could you have the heart to order Six around when she's in this state? Nina, you're so selfish, always trying to get out of work. Do you really need someone else to run your errands for you?"
Annoyed by the racket, Naomi's expression turned completely cold. "So self-righteous, sticking your nose into everything. You'd better shut your mouth right now, or I won't hesitate to throw you out."
Naomi rarely lost her temper, but when she did, it was overwhelming.
