Chapter 18 - EIGHTEEN-The two sides of the Umbravele

Ashmaris pov's.

The clouds darkened.

Something moved from behind the shadow of the trees.

It smells like death itself.

"Reform!" I ordered my men, some who haven't shifted yet start to shift to their dragon form.

I will burn this entire forest down if I don't find Junia.

Then something appeared, red glowing eyes in the dark. They were standing behind shadows, I glanced around and they were around us.

They were waiting to attack.

They start moving really fast, screeching like some wounded bird.

They came out of the shadow, They looked like half plants and shadows. Their body was thin and their teeth jagged, they were short in height too.

Mirelings.

I have only read them in books, no one has seen one before, except those that have seen them but didn't live to tell the story.

They are known for being dangerous and could eat up a whole dragon in an instant.

My heart skipped a beat, I could still see Junia. She must have survived them.

One came after me and I smashed the ground right now. I breathe out, acid into the shadow. Then fire.

My men did the same but they kept coming. My fire or my acid had worked against them.

Then there was a loud screeching sound louder than the one I have heard before and they all rushed out in a thousand.

"Take flight!" I roared as I started to fly, my wings flapped but they were slow. Some of my men couldn't escape the Mireling as they climbed over themselves to pull some of them down. I could hear their screams.

I forced my way out of the tangled web of the forest, thorns tore my wings and my body.

And when I got out, I crashed against the ground near the border.

And everything went blank.

My head feels heavy as I sit up. I was back in my Chamber. I glanced down at myself. I was wrapped in bandage, when I shifted a sharp pain shit through me.

I haven't healed yet.

The door to my chamber opened, and my sister stepped in.

"Ashmaris, you are awake" she called, a small smile on her face. She looked like she had been crying.

"Why are you crying?" I questioned her, my hands went to her face.

"I was so scared," she murmured, "I thought I lost you."

"No, I won't leave you. You know that" I whispered.

"Malrien found a lot of venoms in you. It even slowed down your healing ." Ignara told me. "And you couldn't find Junia"

"Yes the forest…"

"The men told me…you were lucky to have survived."

"I still need to go and—"

"Draven. You can't just go in there again. What if she isn't in there you can still feel her can't you?"

"Yes"

"What if she heads back home. If she is alive she wouldn't be anywhere but at her home" Ignara explained. "Why if she had tricked you into going to the Umbravele"

Ignara was right. I was blinded by fear that she might die going into Umbravele.

That I didn't see her, set a trap for me. She knew I would go after her.

Wasted lives of strong men.

If someone had helped her escape, they wouldn't let her go into Umbravele.

I fisted my palms.

"Send men to Seelie kingdom. I don't care if they slaughtered thousands to get her. They should bring her back."

"I don't think—" Ignara started, I didn't let her finish.

"Make sure she is here by tomorrow evening. They should be sent out now." I ordered.

I have tried to be good with her but she just fooled me. Played like an idiot.

"Okay" Ignara said as she stepped back and walked out of my chamber.

By afternoon, I got better. My anger subsided. I just wanted her to trust me but it seems I can't trust her, I do have to force her to stay even if it is by force.

Some of the Lords came to visit me out of that they were scared of me dying to make sure I was still alive to make one of their daughters queen.

Ignara is angry at me, I could feel it the instant she walked out of my chambers but I am doing the right thing.

The only way I could make Junia stay this time is fear.

And I know Ignara will disagree but people fearing you is a way to take control at all times.

I walked out of my chambers and followed Ignara's scent till a rooftop. "Sister" I called.

She turned to me, "Draven."

"You are angry at me," I told her.

"I don't just think using force and violence to bring her back is a good idea," Shale answered without beating around the bush.

"I know but I already made up my mind" I replied to Ignara.

"Someone help her—" Ignara said but I didn't let her finish before asking.

"Do you know who it is?"

I will rip that dragon heart out the instant I go find out who helped her escape.

"Come seat" Ignara tapped next to her on the bench she was sitting on, I went to her and sat down next to her. "You shouldn't let anger blind you, Draven."

Her voice was soft and calm.

I nodded.

"I could smell the need for you to kill," Ignara said.

"No, I am not—" I wanted to deny but Ignara knew what was about to happen and shit me off.

"You can't lie to me Ashmaris" she laughs, "Uncle and our cousin are near already. You need to keep your injuries secret" Ignara patted my head.

I glared at her and she started laughing at me.

"They will take your injuries as weakness to attack. I suspect they had something huge planned." Ignara said in a serious note.

"What is the Umbravele like?"

"You don't want to know."

"There is an adage that says you can see two side of Umbravele"

"There no two sides it all dangerous"
