Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"This is Jena, you hold this money to take to the city," said Jira as she handed over a bag containing gold coins that had been divided in two. Jira would hold onto the coins to build their house, and Jena would hold onto the rest for their needs in the city.

"Yes, Mom," said Jena as she accepted it.

"Dad, Mom, I'm going to my room first. I want to rest," said Jena as she kissed Jiro and Jira goodnight. In the modern world, since childhood, they had always kissed each other goodnight at the request of their father and mother before going to bed. Now, when they were reunited in ancient times, they wanted to remind their mother of this habit so that she would remember them again. Jiro was, of course, happy to feel the love of his two daughters.

"Yes, go get some rest. Tomorrow you will go to the city and the trip will be tiring. You too, Jeslin, go to sleep quickly. Tomorrow you have to wake up very early," said Jiro softly.

"Yes, Father. Then I'll go to my room too and go to sleep first," replied Jeslin as she hurried to follow her sister.

They didn't go to sleep right away but chatted first to plan what they would do while in the city. Soon after, Jena heard her parents' bedroom door close.

Jiro and Jira immediately went to their room after making sure the outside door and fence were locked. They were worried that thieves might break into their house. Although they didn't have any valuables before, now they had a lot of gold coins, so they had to be more careful.

Soon after, they went to bed so they could wake up early in the morning because Jira had to cook lunch for her two daughters' trip.

"My husband, should we move to the city? To be honest, I prefer living in the village. Not only is this my birthplace, but the people here are very kind and often help us when we are in trouble," said Jira, expressing her feelings.

"I also feel conflicted. This village is where we met, got married, and had our two twin daughters, who used to be incredibly mischievous. But the villagers didn't mind their mischief. In fact, the village chief and the villagers believed that our two daughters would one day become the village's goddesses of fortune," said Jiro with a confused sigh.

They didn't realize that their conversation was clearly heard by their two daughters, who had sharp hearing. Jena and Jeslin fell silent and looked at each other when they realized how their parents felt indebted to the villagers and uncomfortable about having to move to the city.

"Sis, it seems like our plans have changed. This village is indeed very poor. How about we develop this village first? Once the village's income is stable, then we can plan our lives," Jeslin said, stroking her chin, looking thoughtful.

"Hm, I'll think about it again. Let's sleep now, it's late. We have to get up very early tomorrow," said Jena decisively as she laid down her aching body.

Jeslin still looked thoughtful, but after seeing her sister fast asleep, she also lay down. Not long after, Jeslin also fell fast asleep.

Jena and Jeslin felt like they had just fallen asleep when they heard their mother's voice waking them up because it was already morning.

"Jena, Jeslin, are you awake? Hurry up and get up, or you'll be late," Jira called out softly.

"Yes, Mom, we're awake," replied Jena as she opened the bedroom door.

"Wash your faces and eat breakfast right away. I've prepared warm water for you to wash your faces. I'll prepare some snacks for you to take on the trip," said Jira.

"Yes, Mom. Thank you," replied Jena with a slight smile.

Jena took a towel and a change of clothes, then walked to the bathroom in the backyard. In her heart, she complained because the morning air was very cold and she was too lazy to leave the house. However, because of her morning needs, she forced herself. As soon as she opened the kitchen door, the cold wind immediately hit her body, making her shiver.

"It's so cold," Jena muttered as she hugged her towel and hurried into the bathroom.

Jira, who saw her daughter shivering, felt sorry for her. After packing food for the trip, she made four cups of hot tea to warm them up.

Soon after, Jena came out of the bathroom and ran into the house. She saw Jeslin sitting at the dining table enjoying her hot tea.

"Go wash your face first, then have breakfast," said Jena.

"Yes, sis. Is the water cold?" asked Jeslin.

"Mom has made hot water. I've already filled the bucket. Hurry, or the water will get cold," replied Jena.

Jeslin immediately took her towel to the bathroom. Meanwhile, Jena enjoyed her hot tea and quickly ate breakfast so she wouldn't get hungry on the road. Soon after, Jeslin returned and filled her stomach too.

While Jeslin ate breakfast, Jena prepared their necessities for the trip and wrapped them in cloth. She also prepared drinking water. Actually, Jena wasn't too worried about not bringing any food because they could find food in the forest, but so their parents wouldn't worry, she still brought the food their mother had prepared.

Once everything was ready, they said goodbye to their parents. Jiro looked a little worried about letting his two daughters go to the city without adult supervision. After all, they were only fifteen years old. Although in ancient times that age was considered adulthood, for Jiro, who had lived in the modern world, that age was still considered adolescence.

"Dad, Mom, we're leaving. Don't worry too much about us. We can take care of ourselves," said Jena, seeing her father's worried face.

"All right, be careful. And take good care of your sister, Jena. You know she's always curious about many things and often speaks her mind. I'm worried she'll offend people in the city," said Jiro.

Jeslin just rolled her eyes.

"Dad, I'm an adult now and can control myself. So Dad and Mom, don't worry too much, right, sis?" said Jeslin, looking at Jena.

"That's right. Jeslin has changed and can control her behavior. Don't worry," said Jena, nodding.

"We're leaving now, Dad, Mom."

Jena and Jeslin hugged their parents, waved goodbye, and quickly left before the day got any later. They walked quickly, and once they were out of sight of their parents, Jena and Jeslin immediately started running, using their body-lightening technique to get to the city faster.
