Chapter 69 - Chapter 69

The moon hung like a jagged silver hook over the Land of Fire, casting sharp, elongated shadows across the rugged, mountainous terrain surrounding the Fire Temple. The ancient forest, usually a sanctuary of midnight silence, now vibrated with the violent tremors of awakening chakra. The ground groaned, ancient roots snapped, and the air grew thick with the scents of pulverized stone, ionized ozone, and burning wood. The four rogue ninja had executed their strategy, scattering the Leaf village reinforcements across isolated battlefields to ensure their tomb-robbing operations could proceed unhindered.

Deep within a jagged, subterranean ravine that had been violently torn into the earth by rogue chakra, the frontline vanguard of Konoha slid to a halt. Yamato's standard-issue boots skidded across loose shale, flanked immediately by Kakashi, whose left eye already gleamed with the spinning crimson of the Sharingan, and Asuma, who was casually lighting a cigarette despite the oppressive atmosphere. The air down here was suffocatingly dry, smelling heavily of crushed bedrock and ancient dust.

Standing before them, blocking the only narrow exit out of the ravine, was Fudō. The man was a towering mountain of a human being, his massive shoulders broad enough to fill the canyon pass. His face was etched with harsh, heavy lines, and a smug, immovable grin sat beneath his dark eyes.

"Three Leaf village elites," Fudō rumbled, his voice sounding like two tectonic plates grinding together in the dark. "You think your little titles can stand against the absolute weight of the earth?"

Yamato didn't waste breath on a reply. Bringing his hands together into a cross-sign, he instantly flooded the stone floor with his unique, specialized chakra. "Wood Style: Wood Locking Wall!"

Massive, sturdy wooden beams erupted from the jagged stone beneath Fudō's feet, rapidly interlacing like the ribs of a giant beast to cage the massive brute. But before the wooden canopy could fully snap shut, Fudō let out a deep, roaring laugh. He didn't attempt to dodge. Instead, he simply drew back a colossal fist, his skin instantly shifting from a fleshy tone to a dull, metallic, rock-hard grey. "Earth Style: Rock Armor!"

Fudō slammed his hardened fist directly into the oncoming wooden beams. The impact was deafening—a sharp, explosive crack echoed through the ravine as the dense, chakra-infused wood splintered into thousands of flying shards. The raw physical force of the strike sent a powerful shockwave traveling straight back down the canyon.

"My turn," Fudō mocked, stepping out from the wreckage. He brought his massive palms together, executing a single, deliberate hand sign. "Earth Style: Tectonic Slate!"

The entire ravine convulsed violently. The flat stone floor beneath the Konoha shinobi suddenly fractured into massive, jagged plates that began violently tilting, rising, and slamming into one another.

"Scatter!" Kakashi shouted, his Sharingan tracking the shifting vectors of the stone plates.

Yamato leaped into the air, his fingers blurring through a rapid sequence of hand signs. "Wood Style: Deep Forest Emergence!" From the very cracks of the shifting stone plates, massive, twisting tree trunks erupted with terrifying speed. The aggressive roots tore deep into Fudō's fractured slates, forcefully binding the moving earth and halting the tectonic traps by sheer volume and pressure.

As the shifting rocks ground to a halt against Yamato's dense wood barrier, Asuma blurred forward, his movements a masterclass in close-quarters assassination. He drew his twin trench knives, channeling his razor-sharp wind chakra into the blades. The blue energy extended past the metal, humming with a high-frequency buzz that could slice through diamond.

"Let's see how tough that armor is!" Asuma roared, dropping low beneath Fudō's massive swing. He spun fluidly, executing a vicious upward slash. The wind-infused trench knives cut cleanly through Fudō's rock-hard skin, leaving a deep, smoking gouge across the brute's chest. Fudō grunted in pain, stumbling back as blood seeped past his shattered stone coating.

"You bastards!" Fudō roared, slamming both palms onto the canyon wall. A massive avalanche of boulder-sized rocks detached from the ceiling, plunging directly down toward Asuma.

Before the debris could crush him, a blinding flash of blue lightning illuminated the dark ravine. Kakashi appeared directly above Asuma, his right hand coated in a violently crackling sphere of high-density electricity. "Lightning Blade!"

With a surgical strike, Kakashi drove the Lightning Blade straight through the center of the largest falling boulder, shattering it into harmless pebbles. He spun mid-air, channeling the lightning chakra down into the ground. The elemental advantage tore through Fudō's earth-based defenses, traveling up the brute's legs and paralyzing his movements with a massive jolt of electricity.

"Yamato, now!" Kakashi commanded as he landed lightly on his feet.

Yamato slammed his palms together. Massive wooden bindings wrapped securely around Fudō's chest and arms, anchoring him directly to the deep roots of the canyon floor. Fudō thrashed wildly, but between Asuma's wind slashes, Kakashi's paralyzing lightning, and Yamato's absolute restraint, the earth titan was thoroughly locked down.

In a completely different sector of the forest, the environment had shifted from natural woodland into a nightmarish maze of smooth, towering stone walls that stretched high into the night sky. This was the work of Fūen, the tactical trap and illusion specialist of the grave robbers.

Inside the claustrophobic stone corridors, Ino took the absolute lead, standing at the front of the formation with her eyes closed. Sakura and Sai flanked her, adjusting to her rhythm. Every time they turned a corner, the walls behind them would silently shift and lock into place, trying to disorient them. The air was thick with a sweet-smelling genjutsu haze.

"Don't let the fog fool your senses," Ino commanded sharply, her fingers formed into a precise sensory hand sign. Thanks to the deep chakra theory Naruto had drilled into her during the journey, her sensory perception was operating at a completely mutated level. She wasn't just sensing presence anymore; she was tracing the exact frequency of the elemental chakra holding the maze together. "The stone walls are just extensions of her own chakra network. Focus your minds."

From the top of the towering walls, Fūen's mocking laughter echoed down. She stood perched on the rim, tracing her fingers along a glowing map scroll. "Welcome to my playground, little Leaf village pests! Let's see how you handle a total collapse!"

With a flick of Fūen's wrist, the massive stone walls on either side of the trio violently contracted, rushing inward like a giant crushing vice.

"Sai, extract us now!" Ino ordered, refusing to let panic break her focus.

Sai, acting as the perfect second lead, reacted instantly to her command. His brush blurred across his scroll. "Super Beast Imitating Drawing!" Three massive ink eagles erupted from the parchment. The trio leaped onto their backs just as the stone walls pulverized the air beneath them. The ink birds soared upward, gunning for the open sky.

"Too slow!" Fūen shouted, clapping her hands together to manifest a solid purple chakra ceiling. "Barrier Style: Labyrinth Dome!"

"Sai, dive left! Sakura, brace for landing!" Ino called out the moment she saw the barrier form.

The leading ink bird smashed into the energy shield, dissolving back into raw ink. As they plummeted back into the maze, Sai skillfully drew a massive ink serpent mid-air, catching the group and breaking their fall perfectly as they touched down in a new, narrow corridor.

Before the dust could even settle, Fūen manipulated the walls to split, intending to separate the team. But Ino was already moving. She dropped into a low, fluid stance—the exact close-quarters posture Naruto had polished for her.

"Sai, I need a visual blind spot on the upper eastern quadrant to force her down. Now!" Ino commanded.

"Understood," Sai replied seamlessly. He sprinted forward, his brush cutting through the air to unleash a massive swarm of ink bats that flooded the upper corridors, completely blinding Fūen's line of sight and disrupting her map coordination.

With Fūen distracted by Sai's aggressive counter-visuals, Ino clapped her hands together, channeling her newly refined elemental affinity deep into the stone foundation. She recalled Naruto's pointers on balancing physical stamina with precise elemental transformation.

"Earth Style: Earth Core Disruption!"

Ino slammed her palms onto the focal wall. Instead of trying to smash it with raw physical power, she injected her chakra directly into the structural joints of Fūen's jutsu. The stone violently vibrated, its molecular density collapsing from the inside out. With a thunderous explosion, the focal wall shattered into dust, completely ruining the maze's architecture and forcing a startled Fūen to lose her footing, tumbling down into the dirt corridor right in front of them.

Fūen scrambled to her feet, her face twisted in rage as she drew a flurry of wind-laced kunai, hurling them straight at Ino's chest. "You annoying little blonde witch!"

Ino didn't retreat. Utilizing the high-speed evasion and weight-shifting pointers Naruto had taught her, she blurred forward. She twisted her torso fluidly, letting the first kunai graze past her shoulder by a mere millimeter. Ducking beneath the second blade, she closed the distance instantly, slipping right into Fūen's guard.

What followed was a masterclass in swift, precise taijutsu. Ino drove a sharp palm strike directly into Fūen's ribs, followed by a rapid, spinning heel kick that shattered Fūen's defensive posture. Fūen gasped, completely overwhelmed by the speed and fluidity of Ino's physical assaults.

As Fūen stumbled backward, trying to raise her hands to form a desperate barrier sign, Ino's hands were already finished with a secondary elemental sequence.

"Water Style: Rushing Jet!"

A high-pressure stream of water erupted from Ino's palms, slamming heavily into Fūen's midsection and launching her violently down the corridor.

"Sai, seal her!" Ino yelled, stepping back as she maintained her sensory lock.

Sai blurred past Ino's flank, his ink-covered scroll unrolling beneath the airborne rogue ninja. "Super Beast Tracking Turn!" Massive ink bindings shot out from the canvas, wrapping securely around Fūen's limbs the moment she hit the ground, pinning her firmly to the earth and leaving her completely neutralized.

The towering walls of the maze slowly crumbled away, turning back into ordinary, broken rocks as Fūen's consciousness faded.

Sakura walked up from the rear, her eyes wide with absolute awe as she looked at the defeated rogue ninja and then back to her friend. "Ino... that was incredible. Your elemental control and taijutsu... when did you learn to move like that?"

Ino wiped a stray strand of blonde hair from her face, a confident, triumphant smirk playing on her lips as she thought of the blonde jōnin who had spent hours polishing her technique. "Let's just say a certain idiot gave me some highly effective private lessons. Come on, let's group back up with the others."

Deep within an isolated, ancient clearing where the old stone monuments of the Fire Temple stood like silent sentinels, the air was sharp with the whistle of cutting wind. Sora was locked in a furious, high-speed exchange with Furido, the enigmatic leader of the grave robbers.

Sora's movements were frantic, driven by a volatile cocktail of lifelong rejection and a desperate desire to prove his own existence. He swung his right arm forward, his fingers clawed as he channeled his highly refined wind chakra. "Wind Style: Beast Wave Gale Palm!"

A massive, crescent blade of compressed wind, shaped like the feral claw of a giant beast, tore through the grass, screaming toward Furido.

Furido, standing completely calm in his dark, tattered robes, didn't even draw a kunai. He held a heavy, traditional iron monk's staff (shakujō) in his right hand. As the wind claw neared, he simply spun the staff in a fluid, circular motion. The heavy iron rings attached to the top of the staff clinked rhythmically, creating a high-frequency vibration that perfectly dispersed the wind chakra, causing Sora's attack to dissipate into a harmless gust of cool air.

"Is that truly the extent of your power, Sora?" Furido taunted, his voice smooth, elegant, and dripping with an unsettling, paternal condescension. "You fight with so much anger, yet your strikes are empty. Look at how the Fire Temple treated you. They sealed a curse inside your only son and locked you away like a dangerous weapon."

"Shut up! You don't know anything about me!" Sora screamed, his face contorting with rage.

As his emotional stability collapsed, the seal on his right arm began to pulse with a dangerous, malevolent energy. A thick, bubbling shroud of vermillion, burning chakra began to slowly leak from his skin, taking on the horrific, feral shape of a demon claw. The ambient temperature in the clearing skyrocketed, the grass beneath him instantly turning to black ash.

Furido stood back, watching the dark transformation unfold with a look of absolute satisfaction. "Yes... let the demon fire consume you. Fulfill your father Kazuma's true dream and wipe the Hidden Leaf Village off the map!"

"I said shut up!" Sora roared, completely losing control as the vermillion chakra expanded, threatening to turn him into a mindless beast.

"Man, what a drag," a lazy, sharp voice echoed from the trees.

Before Sora could leap forward to attack Furido, a long, slender black shadow stretched across the scorched grass, snaking between the stone monuments and connecting directly with Sora's shadow. Instantly, Sora's body went completely rigid, his feral movements locking in place.

"Shikamaru?" Sora growled, his red, slit-like eyes glaring over his shoulder.

Shikamaru stepped out from the foliage, his fingers locked in the Shadow Possession sign, sweat dripping down his temple from the sheer strain of holding down the immense, boiling weight of the Nine-Tails' chakra. "Choji, now! Don't let the white-haired guy interfere!"

"On it!" Choji yelled, leaping high over the stone monuments. His body expanded rapidly mid-air, his right arm swelling to the size of a villa. "Partial Expansion Jutsu!"

Choji drove his colossal fist directly down toward Furido. Furido's eyes narrowed, and he brought his iron staff up, channeling a massive burst of wind chakra to parry the immense physical weight. The collision created a powerful shockwave that shattered the surrounding stone sentinels, forcing Choji back as Furido leaped out of the dust cloud, his eyes locked onto the two new arrivals.

"More Leaf village pests," Furido sneered, adjusting his robes. "You think a simple shadow can hold back the divine fire?"

"It doesn't need to hold it forever," Shikamaru replied calmly, his brilliant mind already calculating the tactical variables. "Just long enough for us to snap this idiot out of his temper tantrum. Choji, form a perimeter! Don't let the staff-user get close to Sora while I suppress this chakra!"

Choji popped a food pill into his mouth, his muscles expanding as he took a defensive stance in front of Shikamaru. Furido twirled his iron staff, the rings clinking ominously as he prepared to dismantle the tactical duo, while Sora continued to roar against the binding shadows, the vermillion chakra sizzling against the dark energy.

Far ahead of the other battlefields, in a serene, moonlit meadow where the river wound lazily through the valley, Naruto stood completely unbothered. His hands were tucked deeply into the pockets of his white jacket, his posture projecting the absolute indifference of a man waiting for a delayed train.

Standing across from him, Fūka's beautiful, sharp features were violently twitching with a mixture of shock and sheer, unadulterated fury. Her sultry, seductive persona had completely evaporated, replaced by the wounded pride of a predator whose ultimate trap had been treated like a mild inconvenience.

"You insolent, arrogant little brat!" Fūka hissed, her long, crimson hair whipping around her shoulders like wild serpents as her chakra began to violently fluctuate. "No one... no one looks at me with that face! I am going to peel that smug expression right off your head, and then I am going to drain every single drop of your soul until you're nothing but a hollow, dried-up husk!"

Naruto didn't even pull his hands out of his pockets. He just sighed, rolling his eyes slightly. "Look, lady, I already told you: I'm not interested. You're wasting your breath, you know? If you're going to attack, just do it already. I've got a lot of training to get back to, and this whole field trip is seriously ruining my schedule."

"Die!" Fūka screamed. Her hands flew through a rapid, flawless sequence of hand signs. "Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!"

She opened her mouth, unleashing a blinding volley of dozens of small, highly concentrated spheres of roaring orange flame. The projectiles curved through the air erratically, tracing unpredictable paths as they converged on Naruto from every single angle, threatening to incinerate him on the spot.

Naruto remained entirely stationary until the very last possible millisecond. Just as the leading fireballs were about to scorch his clothes, his right hand shot out from his pocket, his fingers pressing firmly against the specialized storage seal tattooed onto the back of his skin.

"Water Style: Surging Cascade!"

A massive, high-pressure torrent of crystal-clear water erupted from the seal like a bursting dam. With a casual, sweeping motion of his arm, Naruto directed the massive wave in a perfect 360-degree circle around himself. The roaring fireballs slammed into the dense wall of water, instantly extinguishing with a massive, deafening hiss that filled the entire meadow with a thick, blinding cloud of white steam.

Inside the dense fog, Fūka's eyes narrowed. She didn't hesitate; she instantly shifted her internal chakra network, her spiritual energy transforming from Fire to a completely different elemental affinity.

"Lightning Style: False Darkness!"

From her outstretched palms, a massive, jagged bolt of pure, piercing blue lightning crackled to life, tearing through the white steam with terrifying speed. Because the air was heavily saturated with moisture from Naruto's previous water jutsu, the lightning bolt amplified in size and lethality, branching out into a lethal web of electricity that raced directly toward Naruto's position.

"Got you," she smirked.

But as the lightning tore through the center of the steam cloud, it didn't strike flesh. It tore directly through a perfect Shadow Clone, which instantly dissolved into a cloud of harmless white smoke.

"Looking for me?"

Fūka's heart skipped a beat. The voice came from directly above her. She snapped her head up, her eyes widening as she saw Naruto hovering in the air, his silhouette perfectly framing the full moon. He had used the cover of the steam to launch himself high into the sky, completely evading the electrified ground.

Wasting no time, Fūka shifted her chakra once again, her affinity instantly transitioning to Wind. "Wind Style: Flower Scattering Dance!"

A massive, howling cyclone of razor-sharp, chakra-infused wind currents erupted from her body, rising up to meet Naruto in the sky. The swirling vortex was sharp enough to slice through solid steel, creating an absolute barrier that no physical attacker could penetrate.

Naruto, suspended in mid-air, remained completely calm. He brought his hands together into a cross-sign. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Two clones materialized beside him in the air. Grabbing the real Naruto by the arms, the two clones used every ounce of their physical strength to violently launch him downward, acting like a human slingshot. The real Naruto shot through the air like a bullet, his trajectory bypassing the outer rim of the howling cyclone.

As he neared the ground, he spun his body fluidly, landing in a perfect, low crouch just three feet away from Fūka's blind spot.

Fūka gasped, quickly spinning around to face him, her hands already forming new signs to switch to Earth Style for a defensive barrier. But she was too slow. Naruto's sensory network had been tracking the precise fluctuations of her chakra the entire time. He had noticed a highly specific anomaly: every single time she switched between the five basic elements, her core chakra signature would briefly disconnect from her physical body for a fraction of a millisecond, shifting toward her long, crimson hair.

Im an idiot, Her hair isn't just an accessory, Naruto calculated instantly, his blue eyes turning sharp and analytical. It's the actual vessel for her souls. The bodies she uses are just stolen shells.

Instead of launching a massive, destructive jutsu that might destroy the evidence, Naruto executed a lightning-fast, precise sequence of close-quarters taijutsu. He slid beneath her outstretched arms, his hand snapping out to grab her wrist, twisting it sharply to lock her joints and completely disrupt her ability to form hand signs.

"Let go of me!" Fūka screamed, thrashing wildly. She leaned her face forward, her lips parting as a ghostly, translucent aura of pure spiritual energy began to emerge from her mouth. She was attempting a desperate, point-blank Executioner's Kiss to forcefully tear his soul from his body.

Naruto didn't flinch, didn't lean back, and didn't show a single shred of fear. He simply raised his left hand, a miniature, perfectly formed Wind Style: Wind Rasengan spinning to life in his palm, its brilliant green light illuminating the clearing. He didn't thrust it into her chest; instead, he brought the high-frequency spinning sphere directly into the path of the oncoming spiritual aura, the intense wind friction completely shredding and scattering her soul extraction technique before it could even touch his skin.

"I already told you twice," Naruto said, his voice dropping into a low, completely commanding tone that vibrated with absolute authority. "I'm. Not. Interested."

With a powerful, fluid sweep of his leg, Naruto kicked her ankles out from under her, slamming her firmly onto the grass. Before she could attempt to migrate her consciousness to a new element or escape into the earth, Naruto brought his green, wind-laced palm down, halting it a mere millimeter away from her forehead. The immense, rotating wind pressure from the Rasengan pinned her down entirely, the sheer kinetic force threatening to pulverize her skull if she made a single movement.

Fūka lay paralyzed beneath him, her eyes wide with a profound, terrifying realization. She had spent decades hunting and consuming the souls of powerful, high-ranking shinobi across the nations, always utilizing her beauty and elemental versatility to dominate her prey. But the boy standing over her right now wasn't just strong—he operated on an entirely different level of tactical awareness and maturity. Her charms were useless, her element-shifting had been completely exposed, and her life was now entirely in his hands.

"Now," Naruto said, his expression completely neutral as the green glow of the Rasengan reflected in his eyes. "You're going to tell me exactly what Furido's ultimate plan is for the hidden tombs, and you're going to do it right now, you know?"
