Chapter 16 - too soft for the throne....

Xan came to Dian with hurried steps his face was tensed.

"They couldn't Assassin's failed he said quietly.

Dian did not looked surprised he sit without any expression change.

He sat in his chair relaxed, carefully pouring tea into two porcelain cups. The warm liquid flowed steadily, without a single tremor in his hand. Steam curled into the atmosphere between them.

"Sit down lord xan ," he said calmly.

Xan hesitated for a moment, unsettled by Dian's composure, then obeyed. He had expected anger. Rage. At least disappointment.

Dian's children Santi and roselv was playing with dragon toys there they are shouting and making little noises

Dian signal their made to take them away.

She quickly took the children away from the room.

Dian looked at them while they went out.

He slowly then lifted one cup, took a slow sip, then rose from his chair. He moved closer and rested a hand on Xan's shoulder, his touch almost reassuring.

"You need not worry, Lord Xan," Dian said softly. "Kalies was never our true enemy in this game we don't have an enemy it's about doing what's right"

Xan frowned. "But he killed them. Easily."

Dian faintly smiled.

"That only tells us he is… stronger and we need to be careful Nothing more." He leaned closer, his voice dropping. "If anything, this failure has clarified matters."

Dian returned to his seat, swirling the tea thoughtfully.

"Our focus should remain where it belongs—on the Arkan Clan." His expression darkened, just a little. "That is where the real danger lies."

He exhaled slowly, as if weighted by responsibility.

"I confess, I am deeply worried about Queen Gorika's judgment," Dian continued. "She seems… untroubled. Blind, even." He shook his head. "At this rate, the Arkan Clan will overrun the Seven Gates before she ever lifts a hand."

Xan's eyes widened.

"Think about it " Dian pressed on, his tone calm but poisonous. "those low life's tricksters, Pagans—creatures once beneath us—ruling over the sacred Gates." His jaw tightened. "Is that the future she envisions?"

Xan clenched his fists. "She still seeks peace… even after Knox was attacked and she doesn't care about us.

"Peace," Dian repeated with quiet disdain. "And she keeps Yakoboo as her adviser." He let out a humorless breath. "A fatal weakness."she forgets that he is our enemy too".

Xan's voice hardened. "Perhaps… the Queen is too soft for the throne."

Dian looked at him then—slowly, deliberately.

"I will never allow harm to come to the Seven Gates," he said. "We are the noblest order. Chosen by the Goddess Cilena herself." His eyes gleamed. "We were born to rule. To control the lesser clans."

Before Xan could respond, the chamber doors opened.

A guard bowed. "Lord Dian. The Queen requests your presence at the council."

Dian inclined his head. "I am coming. Inform Her Majesty."

As the guard withdrew, Dian rose smoothly, his expression once again composed—almost gentle.

He turned toward the council hall, already wearing the face of loyalty.

Behind that calm exterior, plans continued to sharpen.
