Chapter 61 - Chapter 61

Chapter 61: Crimson in the Anime!

It's a pity I'm in Kanto, not Hoenn.

The strongest trainer in Kanto, openly, is Lance.

As for the hidden one, it's naturally our Viridian City Gym Leader, the philanthropist on the surface, the boss of Team Rocket behind the scenes, known as 'Gibbon of the Earth'!

Bai Yu's preferred type is Steel; no one would refuse the perfect Steel type.

Aside from dealing with Fire-type Pokémon, Steel's resistances are outstanding, giving it a significant advantage against Fairy, Dragon, and even Water-type Pokémon, and its move set is relatively comprehensive.

"Forget it, let's deal with that guy in the game first."

Yesterday, Bai Yu had already swept through all the gyms in the game and headed towards Hoenn City. He logged off as soon as he arrived.

Since he has some free time today, he might as well take down the Hoenn Elite Four, and then the Hoenn Champion, Steven.

After winning the Champion title, he'll see if he can challenge a second playthrough and find the legendary Pokémon of the Hoenn region.

Just as Bai Yu was about to start, he heard a knock on the door.

"Gym Leader, someone's here to challenge the gym."

A girl's voice came from outside; the girl was Sabrina, the receptionist who had been transferred from Goldenrod City.

  "A challenger at this hour?"

Bai Yu hadn't expected anyone to come and challenge the gym at this hour.

He walked along the corridor towards the gym's arena.

There was only one boy there, standing quietly, his gaze darting around with curiosity. This was his first time challenging a gym other than the eight badges.

But at this hour, almost midnight, a trainer had come to challenge him.

  Bai Yu had never seen

anything like it. "He's the challenger? A boy, but he seems familiar."

Bai Yu looked at the boy; the hat he was wearing and the tension in his body made him feel like he'd seen him somewhere before.

The lights inside the gym were dim, and Bai Yu couldn't see clearly for a moment.

"Yes, he's the challenger this time."

The receptionist realized something and quickly turned on the lights in the arena.

"Are you the Gym Leader of Macha?"

The boy wearing a hat's eyes lit up when he saw Bai Yu come out.

He thought the other party had already rejected his challenge application.

"I am Bai Yu, the Gym Leader of Macha. And you are?"

Bai Yu frowned. The boy in front of him looked very much like Ash, the differences between them were very small, but Ash had seen him before, and if he were to challenge, he wouldn't ask if he was the Gym Leader.

"I'm Ahong from Florman City. I'm very sorry to challenge the Gym at this time."

Ahong's face showed a hint of apology. At this time, the Gym usually didn't accept challenges, and he had come to try his luck, but he didn't expect the other party to accept.

  "Ahong?"

Bai Yu frowned. He thought the other party was Red.

After all, besides Red, Bai Yu couldn't think of anyone else who could look somewhat like Ash.

"Can we start the match?" Ahong's face was always smiling.

"Okay, let's begin the match." Bai Yu nodded and walked towards the arena.

His mind replayed scenes from the past, finally settling on the Indigo League. He knew who his opponent was: Hiro, the trainer who only appeared in the anime and eliminated Ash in the round of 16.

His Pokémon were almost identical to Ash's; in some ways, Hiro was also a Red, just a different kind of Red, lacking the terrifying talent of a typical Red.

"Too bad~ he didn't win the Indigo League championship in the future either." After eliminating Ash, Hiro's storyline ended smoothly, appearing only in the story version with very little screen time.

His existence was merely to prevent Ash from winning the championship; the same was true for the other suddenly appearing contestants, the strongest of whom was the legendary Pokémon Darkroc.

"Now, the Gym Battle with the Macha Gym Badge as the stakes begins. The challenger is Hiro from Formosan City."

"The rules of the battle are 2 vs 2. Gym Leader Bai Yu goes first. The match ends when one side's Pokémon is unable to battle."

  "The match begins!"

With the league referee's intervention, Bai Yu no longer needed to repeat the rules,

which indirectly reduced his troubles considerably.

"Unlike other gym leaders, I use multi-type Pokémon and will use corresponding tactics based on the opponent's Pokémon's type."

"My preferred method is Spikes; I hope you're prepared for the battle." Bai Yu's lips curled slightly, and he spoke in a flippant tone.

Ahong didn't react for a moment. Spikes?   What kind of tactic was that?

"Swampert, it's time for you to go in."

In the game world, Bai Yu had been constantly improving Mudkip's strength, and now Mudkip had evolved into Swampert. He hadn't used it during the vacation island.

This match deserved to let it out for a breath of fresh air; it couldn't just keep battling in the game world forever.

With a flash of white light, a Pokémon covered entirely in blue, resembling a giant toad, appeared before Ahong.

"What kind of Pokémon is that?" Ahong was astonished, seeing this Pokémon for the first time.

"A Pokémon from the Hoenn region, Swampert." Bai Yu patiently introduced the Pokémon before him.

  "Swampang?!"

Ahong frowned, taking out his Pokédex.

'Ding~ Swampert, Water/Ground type, found in the Hoenn region.'

In the midst of a Pokémon battle, Ahong had very little information, only knowing the Pokémon's type and location.

This was to ensure fairness and prevent opponents from using their Pokédex for intelligence gathering.

  "Then you go, Butterfree!"

Facing the Swampert, Ahong threw his Poké Ball.

A flash of white light, and Butterfree appeared on the field.

Ahong's team was almost identical to Ash's, the only difference being Ash's Charmander. Ash evolved into Charizard, while Ahong only evolved into Charmeleon.

"Butterfree~ Using this Pokémon against Swampert?" "

That makes sense, the only Pokémon in Ash's team that can handle Swampert is Bulbasaur." "Clearly, Ahong

's team only has one starter Pokémon."

The Butterfree in front of him didn't seem very strong; it wouldn't take too long to defeat it.

Bai Yu raised an eyebrow. Ahong was too weak now, even weaker than Xiao Shi and the others.

But then again, if Charizard hadn't thrown the match, the opponent wouldn't have advanced.

  "Hydro Pump!"

A blue beam of light condensed in Swampert's mouth, continuously gathering to create a blue beam that shot directly at Butterfree.

"Quick, dodge! Butterfree!" Ahong panicked for a moment, his command hesitant.

The next second, the water cannon passed through Butterfree's body, and Butterfree fell from the sky, instantly losing its battle ability. A single water cannon had defeated that Butterfree.

  Ahong

had never seen such a powerful water cannon before. The Swampert's strength alone surpassed any of the gym leaders they had encountered before.

  "Gulp~"

Ahong swallowed hard, a hint of fear creeping into his heart.

"Ultimately, it's just an anime adaptation; it's about the same level as Ash now."

Bai Yu wasn't surprised; Ahong's Pokémon weren't strong to begin with.

Ash simply trusted his Charizard too much, assuming it would willingly join the battle.

If it had been a different Pokémon, Hiro wouldn't have won.
