The mansion was silent, too silent.
I wandered through the dimly lit corridors, my heels clicking softly against the marble floor. Every shadow seemed longer than it should be, every creak of the floorboards louder.
Then I saw it — a door at the end of the hallway I had never noticed before. It was slightly ajar, a cold draft slipping out from the crack.
A shiver ran down my spine. I shouldn't go there… I whispered to myself.
Before I could decide, a voice echoed behind me.
"Zyra, that room is off-limits," Ethan said, appearing silently, as if he had been standing there all along. His eyes were sharp, almost dangerous.
"I… I just wanted to see," I stammered.
He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming. "Curiosity can be dangerous. Remember our agreement."
I swallowed hard, feeling both fear and something else I couldn't name.
Then, as I turned to leave, a faint, muffled sound came from the locked room — almost like a whisper or a soft cry.
Ethan's gaze followed me. "Did you hear that?" I asked nervously.
He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he simply reached out, closing the door with a firm hand, leaving only the eerie silence behind.
My heart raced. What was in that room? And why did it feel like the mansion itself was hiding secrets meant to scare me… or protect me?
